New research shows that men who can perform at least 40 push-ups in one attempt are less likely to suffer from heart disease within the next 10 years. Researchers from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health were the first to show how push-up capacity is linked to heart disease. They found that middle-aged men who can perform more than 40 push-ups in a single attempt have a 96% reduced risk of developing a potentially deadly condition and other related ailments, such as heart failure, compared to those who can complete no more than 10 push-ups. Work on building up to that number and then progress to T-pushups like I’m demonstrating which will put more stress on the shoulder area b/c of #shoulderstabilization. Try adding pushups to your routine 3x/wk for the next 4-6 wks, while slowly increasing your volume (reps) over time. #pushups #pushupchallenge #commitment #bodyweightexercises @harvardchansph (at East Sandwich, Massachusetts) https://www.instagram.com/p/BuyT_bxFl1J/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=7bu6qg97e2ha
