SNAPPIN' STRAPS - GRAPHIC CRED: @PHEASYQUE - While back when I was still going to a commercial gym (before constructing the glorious OakBuilt Dungeon of Gains) I witnessed one of the funniest and most tragic lessons I ever learned. - There was a fella doing super wide grip weighted pull ups with straps to hold himself up. - Mid rep, one of the straps snapped and he came tumbling down onto the floor like a one armed rocket. All that muscle with the grip strength of a pre-pubescent girl… - And there’s a few lessons in this short story... - Numero Uno: - Don’t use straps. Chalk it up. Grip strength is true strength. (And you’ll minimize injuries, too.) - Numero Dos: - A wide grip for pull ups doesn’t give you more width, it actually engages your back less.. A more narrow grip will increase your range of motion, engage your lats more, and make it much easier to overload the exercise… - …i.e build more muscle with it. - Grip the bar just outside of shoulder width, then lock it in and pull. - That's all for now. - Stay yOAKed, - Mark - P.S: Not making gains sucks. Especially when you’re busting your ass. I see people who never build the physique they want. It’s awful. If you want to make sure that ain’t you, Hit the link in my bio. - - - - - #pullup #pullups #backday #backworkout #workouttips #exercisetips #fittips #fitnesstips #buildmuscle #bodyweightexercises #bodyweightworkout #liftweights #lifting #crossfit #musclegain (en Las Vegas, Nevada) https://www.instagram.com/p/B4i6DE3J6v_/?igshid=1766lfnyei6od
