And another, and another, aaand he keeps going until he's straightened himself up and is pressing Kohaku's button repeatedly, in what sounds like a beat. LEEEETS BREAK IT DOWN

♕ CHILDHOOD:

Kimi and Kazu’s parents were (and are) often very busy, so they spent a lot of their early childhoods on inventing games of pretend to play. The one thing most of those games had in common was some sort of loose ‘hunter-versus-hunted”, “predator-versus-prey” theme. “Cats and rabbits”, for example. They almost spent more time on deciding who got to be whom than they spent on actually playing...until Kazu decided one day that actually, they didn’t want to be a smelly cat, ever, thanks. So things worked out fine.

✿ HAPPINESS:

Just looking into the mirror often cheers Kimi up! She’s a certain kind of vain about her face, see. First of all, the facial features she’s always known she’ll grow into are nothing if not “cute” -- doe eyes, button nose, near-eternal youth. The kind of face that compels one to think “innocence” -- that would compel people to think “innocence” here, too, under different circumstances. (In practice, on the other hand...)

Kimi tends to oversell the “twee” factor, in her facial expressions, in her mannerisms...in practice. So whether she herself actually comes off as “cute” to anyone is debatable. But her sense of vanity isn’t about that, so it’s okay! She’s got plenty to make her happy here.

♕ CHILDHOOD:

Kimi and Kazu’s room was absolutely stuffed with toys when they were young. (Technically it still is, even if only Kimi lives there now, and even if Kazu took about half of the hoard with them to Saipan.) For much of her childhood, Kimi watched as the collection steadily increased: in leaps and bounds on every birthday or major holiday, and at a steady trickle as she told her moms all about the exciting doodads the other kids had throughout the year. None of them were particularly expensive, but many were newly-released and fairly trendy at the time of their purchase, and that her family had money for this and not for, say -- pills and pillows and salves and insoles for her mothers’ ever-aching heads, necks, joints, feet -- was not something that young Kimi ever thought to question.

(She tended to break a lot of the toys she received, actually, driven by a desire to take them apart to see how they worked. Kimi feels kind of bad about this now. She has a number of colorful spare parts stuffed in a box somewhere, in case she ever finds the lost pieces needed to put those toys back together.)

☾- Are they prone to nightmares or dreamless sleep?

nightmares, yes! but i doubt he’s had much of those like, adrenaline-racing ones that make you wake up immediately in the middle of the night - more overall disturbing ones that make u wake up in mild discomfort. don’t ask me why. it’s gut feel for me

dreamless sleep sure why not, but he dreams quite a bit bc when he’s asleep he tends to be Deeply Asleep

☼ - Something that/Someone who makes them happy.

yutaka finds happiness in very simple things - laughing at a joke, eating nice food, goin out somewhere with friends! there’s many small things in life u look 4 happiness in yknow?? that’s what’s happiness is about! ☆ ～('▽^人)

but if it’s a person. u know he would never tell u but it Is his gpa whos like, the most consistent with making him happy, probably, but. his lips are sealed

♪ - Are they musically inclined?

he’s the definition of mediocre. he can kinda sing, but he’s only Alright and always cracks at high notes and can’t go very low. he’s alright with rhythm, but hasn’t had the dedication to learn how to dance. he could learn to play an instrument, but he doesn’t have much interest in playing or performing music. or even singing at all.

so he’s just there. he enjoys karaoke but that’s the furthest extent of his singing career

✓ - How do they react to praise?

yeah, that’s the usual kind of smug joke-y response you’ll get from him if you drop him a compliment. it’s obnoxious and it seems like he doesn’t appreciate ur compliment at all. that’s when he’s in his usual chipper mood tho, if u catch him when he’s being weirdly broody, he might a. not take u serious and scoff u off b. say thanks like eh.. thanks on the rare chance he thinks ur being serious

ODD NUMBERS!

1. What position does your character sleep in? ( i.e; stomach, side, back, etc. ) Describe why they do this — optional.

However The Hell He Wants™. basically, this means that Isamu usually falls asleep in whatever bizarre position he finds himself comfy in first, from completely starfishing on his back to completely curled up with his legs tangled up some weird way. He’s generally conscious to leave a spot open for Hana to curl up in next to him nowadays though, even if no matter what he always wakes up and she’s never stayed there in favour of sitting on his side or head or something. 

3. Does your character have an accent? What does it sound like?

Isamu’s accent is… well, he does speak with one, but it’s not entirely sure what the hell it is. He didn’t so much pick up the local way his parents spoke, so much as he mashed together all the ways his many childhood friends did. The only really consistent features are droppin’ the letters off the end o’ words sometimes, and just being all… real casual about it, for lack of a better word. It’s not a harsh accent, it’s one of those that kinda makes words flow and run together when speaking.

7. How does your character perceive themselves? Positive? Negative? Neutral?

Touched on this a bit in a previous response, but currently Isamu’s pretty positive towards himself! He currently sees himself as finally being on track to actually making something good of his life, with the HPA invite being a huge boost for that. The whole cat thing came about from a rekindled old love too once he took on the café job, so he’s riding on that now too. this is a guy currently pretty happy with himself. 

9. Does your character dream or are their nights filled with an empty blackness? Describe a dream they’ve had or a night they couldn’t sleep and what they did to preoccupy their time.

Isamu generally does dream, and they’re generally pretty nonsensical. Occasionally something or someone from a while ago features in a more realistic way, but most of the time it’s just standard absurd kinda daily life shenanigans. The kind where some dream stranger on the street can come up and tell you you gotta go pick up your rat delivery from space and ur just like oh yeah you’re right i do let’s go. if he can’t sleep (which sometimes happens a lot due to noise downstairs), he just kinda fucks around on his blog a bit or hangs out with a disgruntled Hana. just chillin until he gets sleepy enough to ignore whatever’s going on.

11. What do they think of creation? Do they believe in evolution or do they believe in God? What is their religion like?

He… doesn’t, really. Isamu has honest to god no opinion or thoughts on any of this stuff, he’ll just shrug at you if you ask. If you had to ask him to pick which he believed in more though, he’d probably say evolution due to looking so much into Why Cats Started Doing What They Did or something, but he’s really not fussed. 

13. Have they ever been so overwhelmed they had to stop and take a break from something?

Not particularly! The closest thing would be when the cat café gets busy; as the staff roster is fairly small and Isamu’s there quite a lot, continual work of whatever kind depending on his current kind of shift can fall on him, and he’ll get granted more breaks to deal with it, but even then he’s pretty okay. he doesn’t think on stuff enough to get overwhelmed by it really. 

15. Can they multi-task or must they focus on one subject at a time?

He can multitask, but… only because Isamu is the sort of guy to just shrug and go into things without really thinking through them first. Lends itself naturally to agreeing to start working on something while you’ve got five other things going on at the same time. 

17. Is your character an introvert or an extrovert? How do they handle big crowds of people?

Isamu isn’t particularly either strongly! He’s perfectly content to just hang out with a cat or with a whole bunch of people; so long as he’s having a good time he really doesn’t care. He handles big crowds the same way he always is, nothing really different about him at all. 

19. If your character was suddenly challenged, would they rather run away or stay and fight?

Really depends on the situation and how the actual challenge goes down… perhaps more likely to run away overall though. 

21. Your character has been granted 3 wishes; what would they wish for and why?

well immediately putting spoiler based ones aside lol. Isamu, being the daft soul that he is, would probably immediately wish for some way of being able to take in more cats at home (cause he loves ‘em, has always wanted one and especially after taking in the needy Hana, but there’s really only barely accommodation for her), some way of continually getting free fast food (cause he’s a junk food junkie and would think of this first…), and… for what he’s working on now to keep going well and stick around :’> (cause he’s super happy with how it’s going, as mentioned.)

23. Do they prefer romance or affection? What is the quickest way to your character’s heart?

Affection! Touched on this in a previous response, but while Isamu would really appreciate romantic gestures too, he’s a very affectionate person when it’s actually there. It kinda falls under quickest way to his heart too, being close with him like that; kinda.. appreciating him for who he is and all that good stuff.or compliment his cats or buy him a cheeseburger or somethin

27. If your character had one thing to say to their parents before they died, what would it be?

i cant… tell… which way round this is meant to be? assuming it’s isamu saying a last thing before he dies, it’d be ‘sorry for all the trouble’.

29. Does your character get restless when things are too quiet or do they favour solitude and silence? Why?

Isamu favours quieter times! It’s a long rooted issue from trying to go to sleep as a kid with the izakaya downstairs getting louder and louder as the night went on, so continuous loud times don’t really sit as well with him over quieter ones.

Shigure believes in the concept of soulmates, whether platonic, romantic or otherwise. With so many people in the world he thinks it’s only logic there will be a few people who could be your ideal matches in some shape or form. However, he doesn’t like the concept of destiny -because it takes initiative from people, control your own live my dudes- so he doesn’t think soulmates are bound to last? Yeah it’s possible for that to happen but ultimately people change, people make mistakes, its highly likely you’ll separate from your soulmates way before your life is over. Sure some people might say they aren’t really soulmates then but, eh it’s how he sees the concept.(Also as the above implies, he doesn’t think there’s ‘one true soulmate’ for everyone, people can have multiple) 

-----Whilst he’s not easy to fluster, there is one easy thing that’ll get to him more than he’d admit. It’s pretty simple but, the concept of giving him a gift without him requesting it from you means a lot to him? It doesn’t have to be fancy, just something with clear thought put into it and some care, I’m pretty sure you could just cook for him without him asking and it’d work too. To him it’s a indicator that you’re thinking of him and care about him on a deeper level. Admittedly he’s a shit and will play this off coolly and tease that ‘are you falling for me ;)?’ to hide the fact he’s a big goddamn nerd.

☂ - food headcanon

going back to the 35 facts thing i did, i said toshio’s no fan of rly hot drinks, which is why he typically drinks iced coffee instead. this sorta applies to food too - i.e., hot liquids. soups and stuff. not a fan, but he won’t turn them down if given any. tbh he tolerates them more if there’s like... y’know, stuff in it. noodles or veggies or w/e. but just plain ol hot liquid?? No Thanks
