White Base travels to Side 6, docking at Baldur Bay for repairs after their battle with the Camel Patrol Squadron.

Amuro takes some leave in the colony, and by pure chance reunites with his father, Tem Ray, who went missing during the attack at Side 7. Tem has suffered oxygen depravation from his time adrift in space, and his personality has become manic.

Later, when Amuro gets caught in the rain, he takes shelter at a house beside a lake. There, he meets a mysterious young woman who he feels an immediate connection with. She is Lalah Sune, the Flanagan Institute's star pupil.

Amuro meets Lalah again when his buggy gets stuck in some mud. This time, she is in the company of Char Aznable, who Amuro instantly recognizes, although they have just met. Despite the fact that Amuro is an enemy, Char takes the time to tow his car back onto the road. Amuro thanks Char for his help, and quickly leaves.

December 25, UC 0079 – 2:00 PM

Bernie engages Gundam NT-1 in his Zaku 2 FZ, drawing it away from Ribo's residential zone as planned.

Meanwhile, Al learns that the Federation have captured the Zeon fleet that was carrying the nuclear missile, and he races to warn Bernie, desperate to stop the confrontation with the Gundam.

Al arrives just as Bernie's Zaku is impaled on one of the Gundam's beam sabers. After being blown back by the Zaku's destruction, Al is discovers the Gundam's pilot is his neighbour, Christina Mackenzie, when Federation medics lift her wounded body out of the Gundam.

Although Bernie lost his life, he was able to completely wreak Gundam NT-1, preventing its delivery to the Federation's main forces. It was intended for White Base's Newtype ace pilot, Amuro Ray.

In the wake of the One Year War, the Earth Federation and Side 6 governments sign a security treaty: the Riah Republic remains provisionally autonomous, but is now under the military protection of the EFSF.

December 5, UC 0079

While White Base is docked at Baldur Bay, Vice Admiral Dozle Zabi sends the Conscon Fleet to trap her in port.

In order to protect Side 6's neutrality, White Base is forced to leave and engage the Zeon forces laying in wait. The ship's mobile suits eliminate the fleet's 12 Rick Doms in less than three minutes – nine of them are destroyed by Amuro in the Gundam.

The battle is televised across Side 6, and after witnessing Conscon's callous violation of their territory, the republic begins aligning itself more closely with the Federation.

December 13, UC 0079

Zeon forces attack Ribo, Side 6. Although Side 6 is officially neutral, Federation GMs emerge to repel the attack once Zeon mobile suits enter the colony.

During the fighting, Bernard Wiseman's MS-06FZ Zaku 2 FZ is shot down. Emerging from the crash, Bernie meets a young civilian named Alfred Izuruha, and learns that the EFF's G-4 Project has been moved to Ribo.

December 15, UC 0079 – 6:00 AM

Zeon forces from Granada stage a battle at Ribo as a cover for Bernard Wiseman –reassigned to the Cyclops Team– to be inserted into the colony, disguised as a civilian transport pilot.

Wiseman's ship carries a disassembled MS-18E Kämpfer, which the team will use to carry out Operation Rubicon. Wiseman's new teammates are able to facilitate his arrival, ensuring the dismantled mobile suit enters Ribo undetected.
