I’m sorry, I know there are a lot of sad Pearl asks in my inbox, but I think for tonight I’ll just be appreciating this, my fancy new side-sword. I’m sure she’d understand.

It was made by Kvetun Armoury. Kind of having trouble hauling it around atm, though - finding bags big enough to fit it. I’ll need to figure out something resembling a scabbard or a wrap as soon as possible.

Did some sparring with the sidesword and a rotella (giant circular shield) today! This was my first time with the sidesword. We're fighting in the tradition of Marozzo, a Renaissance era Italian fencing master. The weapons are dulled steel hence the protective gear. That’s me in the black and white shorts.

For those of you who aren’t hip with sword terminology, the side sword is just a Renaissance continuation of the knight’s arming sword from the Middle Ages. Video 1 of 2. Because tumblr uploading.
