Mario Kart World
This would be the first time a Sidestepper would be playable, in both Mario Kart and the Mario franchise as a whole. While it was initially unlockable, it was made a default character in version 1.1.0. During races, Sidesteppers can also be found on some routes leading to other tracks, and can be summoned through the Kamek item on the Peach Beach and Wario Shipyard courses. They can also be found in Free Roam mode around some tracks, such as Salty Salty Speedway, and during some missions. Some stickers of them can be seen during the credits.

The fact that you can play with a Goomba or a Sidestepper (the crab) in MKW is insane. These generic baddies don't get enough attention so I drew some.
I did more, but these took longer to paint than expected, and I already kind of lost interest in finishing the rest. If they get enough attention, I might color and upload more.
Some of favorite Mario enemies to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Super Mario Bros!
At first I thought the selection of characters for Mario Kart World was really odd.
Until I found out about the Kamek item in the game, in which he turns all the players into enemies and/or background characters.
So it does make some sense to have these characters in the game for that reason. Kamek also sponses a bunch of obstacles onto the track when this happens.
It could be related to the character you turn into,
Or it could be themed around that character.
And in some cases, it feels random, which I suppose keeps you on your toes during races.
