Summary: When going back to a hell-hole you thought you’d never revisit again, it’s mandatory you have someone trusted by your side.
Requested by @daydreamsofbee Hi hun! Thank you so much for your request, I’m really sorry it’s taken so long to complete but here it finally is and I hope you enjoy the read! Love, Vy ❤
“This will be your first time meeting aunt Sid, so behave, ok?“ Y/N mumbled to the two year old toddler in front of her as she unbuckled him from his car seat to bring with her into the waiting area of the train station.
“Ok.“ Jacob blabbers absentmindedly, more because it’s one of the few words he’s learned rather than an actual answer to his mother’s question, but it still manages to widen the smile on the woman’s face.
“I’ll take your word for it, buddy.“ She said, locking the car with the press of a button before kissing the top of her son’s head, “Truth be told, I’m the one who needs a pep-talk, not you. If I’m letting a high school crush rattle me like this almost three decades later, I need a serious maturity check.“
Her nervous rambling is met with a giggle from Jacob who’s exhibiting the perfect mix of attentive but distracted as he listens to his mom’s words, the majority of which he doesn’t understand or know yet.
“God, I’m complaining to a two-year-old.“ She sighs to herself, making a mental note to pull herself together and stop talking to seemingly no one as she’s now surrounded by people in the relatively crowded train station where she herself got off about three days ago with the rest of her team, dispatched from the LAPD to help out with the investigation of the reemerged killing spree in the small, quiet town.
Her hometown, the town she escaped as soon as she graduated, moving to Los Angeles to get her bachelor’s in criminal justice. She hasn’t stepped foot here in a decade, which brings on the clockwork element to the situation - ten years ago, a similar situation ensued, provoking her return to Woodsboro, ten years after having left for college. Now, ten years later, she’s back again and for the same unpleasant reason, but with the same silver lining.
Sidney Prescott.
The woman currently looking at her with a smile that time has not been able to change. A smile which de-ages Y/N back to her high school days of careless and reckless fun with the two girls she couldn’t imagine her life without. The memory stings, the bittersweet taste it provokes settling in her mouth as she’s once again reminded of Tatum and Randy. Hell, even the memory of Billy and Stu, the ones she knew before everything went to shit. It grounds a lump in her throat, leaving her to chase away it’s unpleasantness with the best smile she can muster as Sidney approaches her.
“Y/N!” The two women envelop each other in a warm familiar embrace - as much as they can with one of them holding a toddler in her arms, “God, did time stop for you or did you stop time for yourself?“ She asks, pulling away from her friend to look at the pair of curious blue eyes staring at her in awe, “Hi there, little guy.”
“Hi.“ Jacob replies, throwing his usual shyness out the window, much to the surprise of his mom.
“This guy right here begs to differ.“ She replies, inwardly cursing herself for the effect Sidney’s words have taken, sending a bubbling like sensation in her chest. “Sid, this is Jacob. Jacob, meet auntie Sid.“
Sidney is quick to dismissively shake her head, “Drop the ‘auntie’. You’re making me feel old.“
Y/N scoffs, “Says you, you vampire. You haven’t aged a day in a decade.”
“Yeah, what a miracle. With all these looney stabbers around, I’m surprised neither of us has lost the color of our hair yet.“ She sighs, her words reminding Y/N of why she’s here in the first place.
Right...this isn’t a high school reunion....although that would probably be worse now that I think about it
”Pretty sure we would if we didn’t have each other.”
The words slipped past her lips so fast she probably wouldn’t have caught them even if she did happen to see them coming.
Aren’t I a little too old to let crap like this...
“Then I’ll make sure not to leave your side, Officer.“ Sid says, a smirk taking over where the semi-forced smile previously resided, “As long as you promise to not leave mine.“
Nevermind...guess it worked? What does ‘worked’ even entail at this point?
Swallowing a little harder than usual, Y/N nods, one tooth away from grinning like an idiot, “I promise, old friend.”
“Drop the ‘old’!“
“Like hell I will!“
Old or not, if someone asks, the most adequate description of Y/N and Sidney’s relationship is by calling them friends. After all, on the surface, they aren’t anything else, right? Well, partially right. But, if you bother to read a bit more into the arm Sidney links with the Y/N’s as they make their way out to the latter’s car, you’d know there’s a lot more going on behind the scenes. The curtain hides a lot, but not everything.
You can dig deeper as well: their gazes, smiles and the inside jokes. The way they first seek each other out to ensure the other’s safety when in the tightest and tensest of situations.
But, let’s be honest, not everyone would bother. Just like Y/N would rather lie than touch that emotional can of worms inside her with a ten foot pole. Calling Sidney an ‘old friend’ is as close as she’ll get to admitting what she actually is to her: her oldest heartthrob.

"I can't believe I slept with you!" Sidney shouted at the last ghoul in her home. What kind of person kills people? And what sick bastard would kill the ones they work with? Sidney's question echoed in (Y/N)'s mind. They knew what she meant. That night she asked (Y/N) to do it with her was the most romantic thing both of them have ever experienced. The soft cuddles afterward were Sid's favorite part. The being in the black costume was dripping the blood of their friends. They dropped the knife, their hands smeared with blood.
"Sid, they were going to kill you... I don't want you to get hu-" Sidney cut (Y/N) off, shoving them to the ground.
"Don't fucking 'Sid' me! You're as crazy as they are!" Sidney screamed at the top of her lungs, continuing to kick the last ghost in the ribs. They coughed and scooted away, putting their hands in front of their face.
"Sidney, I love you..! I stayed to protect you, I knew they were after you... I only joined them to protect you!" They wiped a small smear of blood from their lip. Their next move was to pull Stu's gun out of his hand. (Y/N) started to cry, staring up at the girl they loved dearly. "But obviously you don't get that," (Y/N) continued, pushing the gun up to their temple. "I killed to protect you."
Sidney walked closer, staring at (Y/N) in shock. "Wait, don't..." She gently pulled their hand to her chest, trying to make them feel her heartbeat. "See? I'm scared of losing you... Please, don't do it..."
(Y/N) pulled back the gun to their head, and gently pushed Sidney back. "I love you."
BANG!
With a single shot, they were gone. Sidney shouted out, and ran to the body of her bloody lover. "(Y/N), this isn't funny... Wake up, (Y/N), wake up!" The sirens of the cop cars rung in Sidney's ears, everything going in slow-motion. She pulled the body of (Y/N) into her arms, and dragged them outside.
"Somebody, help! Please, help!" Sidney shouted out in pure agony, the thought of the once bright smile of (Y/N). "Please," tears streamed down her face, "someone help..."

Part 1
I rummage through my things, scrambling to get everything ready.
Today was my first day at Woodsboro highschool. I've never went to a new school before- and I'm not doing it now by choice.
My families house burned down recently... I lost everything, I basically have to start all over- like my last life didn't exist... it's a hard feeling to describe.
The only belongings I have left are what I had kept at my grandparents house, which is where I am staying until my parents are able to find another home in Woodsboro.
I hear a rhythmic rap at my room door.
"All ready?" I hear the familiar voice of Stu on the other side of the door.
I am the child of Stu's older sister Leslie- making Stu my uncle although we are the same age. I've always seen him as more of a brother than anything, but he loves to tease me about it.
"One minute!" I toss my supplies into my backpack and throw it over my shoulder.
I give myself one last looking over in the mirror. My hair was curly and a dirty blonde color. I kept it out of my face with a colorful bandana to match my tie-died crop top. I paired it with a pair of low rise bell bottoms and some white tennis shoes.
I swing open the door and as I go to walk out Stu leans on the door frame infront of me, blocking my path.
"What?"
"You're really going out dressed like that?" His eyes travel down to my stomach that peeked out of my top.
"Yes. I'm in highschool Stu, I'm aloud to show my belly button." I roll my eyes and duck under his arm. He shakes his head in disapproval as he follows me out the door.
When we arrive at school we are met by Tatum, she is Stu's girlfriend. I've met her quite a few times already as she comes over to the house often. It's nice to say I atleast I know one other person besides Stu.
"So are you excited?" Tatum asks me as Stu wraps an arm around her shoulders.
"About what?" I ask.
"You know, about starting at a new school!" She smiles.
"Ah, not really." I shrug. "School is not really my forte. Plus the thought of having to catch up with everybody makes me sick."
"I don't mean like that." She giggles. " arnt you excited to make new friends? Maybe meet somebody? Huh?"
"They'll make friends in no time." Stu grins. "Their just like me. Fun, loveable, attractive..."
"Careful, I can see your ego growing." I poke him in his side.
When we get inside I immediatly head to the office to grab my schedule and make my way to my classroom.
***
Stu and Tatum meet up with me after classes. Together we go to the fountain.
On its ledge sat a small group. A beautiful girl, leaning on her a scrawny guy with dark greasy hair and next to them-but also at a distance- another guy with lighter brown hair and very pretty blue eyes.
"Hey guys! This is my little nibling I was telling you about." Stu pats me on the head and I cross my arms.
"Little? Your literally a month older then me."
I introduce myself and the others do the same back. Sidney, her boyfriend Billy and Randy.
They take a seat and I plank myself down between Stu and Sidney.
"So, Liking Woodsboro so far?" Randy makes conversation with me, he was very sweet and gave off a very comforting vibe.
"I don't know, it seems nice on the surface but there is something about this place that feels a little off. I don't know why." I pride myself on being a good judge of character and I am usually right... I guess you could say I've got a strong intuition?
"Perhaps it's because everybody's feeling on edge about the murder."
"Murder?" I blink.
"Leslie didn't tell you?" Stu laughs. "Typical."
"So what happened?" They've peaked my curiosity.
"Last night somebody murdered a girl- Casey Becker- and her boyfriend-Steve Orth." Randy explains. "The police have no clue who could have done it, so everybody is on edge not knowing who it could be... it could really be anybody."
"Even you." He jokes, smirking and raising his brows.
"Why would it be me?" I question.
"Well, Stu said that you came to town yesterday... that same night they were murdered. Coincidence?"
"It's impossible for it to be her" Stu chimes in. "They were comepletely gutted amd hollowed out. Only a real man could do something like that."
"A woman could kill somebody!" Tatum retorts and the three of them argue.
I rub my forehead in disgust as Stu explains how to gut somebody in graphic detail, this isn't really the topic of conversation I had expected.
"Don't mind them, their horror movie nerds." Billy speaks up, noticing my discomfort.
"You don't have to tell me. I know how tasteless Stu can be." I shake my head and he grins.
"If your not into scary movies, what do you like?" Billy continues the conversation.
"I'm more of a dirty dancing-ghost type of person."
"A Patrick Swayze fan?" He chuckles.
"Fan is an understatement." I laugh. "Romance movies in general are more up my alley."
I look at Sidney, she's stares blankly at the ground as if she is absorbing everything that is being said.
"What about you?" I ask her, trying to insert her into the conversation. I wouldn't want her to think I was making a move on her boyfriend.
"Oh yeah, i like those too." She replies as I snap her out of her trance.
Suddenly a voice bellows over the speakers, it's the principal. He gives a warning about arriving home safely.
Stu jumps up from the fountain, grabbing me by my wrist.
As I stand up I notice Billy give me a looking over, unbeknownst to Sidney. It sort of makes me uncomfortable and I duck slightly behind Stu.
"Come on, let's go home." He grins. "If any killer tries to come at you he'll have to get through me!"
"I'll go-" Stu pretends to punch and kick, making funny sound effects as he does so. "Your guts are safe with me!"
He pokes me in my stomach and I shoot him a dissatisfied glare.
I wave goodbye to the others as we walk off of school grounds.
That evening my grandparents announced that they would be going out of town. My parents had plans to go as well, in their words they needed a 'break from all of the stress.' But actively chose to leave me in it.
I didn't fussy the idea of me and Stu being left alone with a killer on the loose, but Stu was absolutely ecstatic. He was already making plans to hold a house party.
"I don't think thats a great idea." I explain my concern but he seems unphased.
"We can drink beer and watch horror movies!" He rubs his hands together in excitement.
"We don't know who the killer is, you could literally be inviting them into our home." I shudder at the thought.
"What if we already have?" He chuckles and my eyes widen.
"Just screwin with ya." He pats me on the back and lets out a hearty laugh.
I punch him in his arm. He really is simple minded.
He gets up from the couch, grabbing his backpack and heading toward the door.
"Where are you going all of a sudden?" I ask.
"I forgot that I promised Billy we'd hang out today. I'll be back in a few."
"Alright." I nod. Slumping down into the cushions and flicking through the channels on the television.
Part 2
At school the next day the whole atmosphere felt different... lighter.
People were gathered in small cliques, laughing, gossiping...
One of them grabs me by my shoulder, pulling me aside.
"Have you heard?" She squeaks excitedly. "They caught the killer!"
"What, really?" I feel a weight lift off of my shoulders, perhaps being home alone won't be so bad after all.
"Yeah." Another girl chimes in, eager to spread the rumor. "and you won't guess who it is!"
"Who?"
"Billy Loomis!" She whispers.
"What!?" I'm taken aback. He did seem sort of off, but I still didn't imagine it.
"Sidney was threatened by the killer last night...moments after Billy climbs through her window with a burner phone. Pretty creepy huh." She wraps her arms around herself, shivering slightly. "The police took him in."
That's odd... i scratch my head as I recall Stu saying he was supposed to hang out with Billy last night. Billy wasn't with him- but with Sidney... yet Stu was gone for hours. My thoughts race. I'll have to question him about it when we get home.
Something catches the girls' attention and I quickly follow their gaze. Sidney walks down the hall, her head down. People whisper and call cruel words in her direction as she passes. She must feel awful.
"Hey, i bet Sidney is a killer too!" A boy speaks loudly. "It would only make sense to throw your accomplice under the bus to protect yourself."
I see a pained expression cross her face and I instinctively run toward the guy, giving him a powerful whack across the face with my math textbook.
"What the fuck was that for?" He cries as his nose begins to bleed.
"Mind your own damn business." I hiss.
"And if anybody else wants to open their stupid mouths they can feel my wrath too. I used to take karate back in my home town." I shout through the hall threateningly.
The subject of conversation quickly shifts from Sidney to the fact that I am a total lunatic, which wouldn't be completely false.
"You didn't have to do that." Sidney speaks softly, finally looking up from the floor.
"But I appreciate it nonetheless." She smiles slightly.
"Anytime." I smirk. "So... how are you feeling, like really?"
I wrap an arm around her shoulder, giving it a reassuring squeeze.
"It really took me off guard." She sighs. "When you think you know somebody... you don't."
"I can only imagine the feeling." I bite my lip. "But you really did a good thing by turning Billy in. Most people wouldn't have the courage to betray their loved one like that."
"Youre a good person that cares about the wellbeing of others. I've only just met you but I can see that." I speak from the heart and she smiles warmly.
She really is beautiful. Her dark hair and striking brown eyes contrast perfectly with her clear, pale skin. I smack myself on my cheeks, desperate to rid myself of my intrusive thoughts... now really isn't the time.
A teacher approaches us, an angry kick in her step. Following behind her like a stray dog was the boy I had hit earlier, a wad of bloody tissue up his nose.
"This school does not tolerate violence amongst its students." She lectures me. "Go to the principals office. Now."
I groan. Snitches get stitches.
"I'll see you later Sid." I give her one last pat on the back before heading toward the principals office.
***
The secretary sits at her desk, flipping through a large stack of duotangs.
"I-" I try to speak but the secretary interrupts me abruptly.
"The teacher already called ahead. Follow me." She stands, motioning me ahead with her hand.
She tries to open the door but it is locked.
"That's strange... he never locks his door." She mumbles.
"Excuse me sir, I have a student that needs to see you." She knocks on the frosted glass and waits a moment, but recieves no response.
"Sir?" He still doesn't answer.
She pulls a set of keys out of the pocket of her blazer, unlocking the door and cautiously pushing it open.
The moment the door cracks I am hit in the face by a pungent metallic scent. The secretary notices it too and wrinkles her nose.
We step inside, the principal has his head cradled in his arms as if he were taking a nap on his desk.
"Sir, are you alright?" The secretary pushes him up by his shoulder and suddenly his body falls limply back into the office chair. His face was pale and lifeless.
We are both mortified as we notice his white button up had been stained red from the multiple stab wounds in his chest. Upon further inspection we also notice that his stomach had be sliced open and his organs pooled out into his lap and onto the floor by his feet.
The last thing I can remeber after that moment is the secretary's blood curdling scream for help as the world closes in on me.
***
When I come to I am laying in a doctors office, surround by police officers. My heart races as the morbid scene repeats itself in my mind.
I begin to feel even more Ill as I relay my experience to the police. They had officer Dewy do the questioning, since he was Tatum's brother they thought it would make me feel a little more at ease. It didn't.
"How are you doing?" Sidney sits down on the bed beside me, taking my hand in hers.
"Just peachy." I smile sarcastically.
"I'm sorry." She furrows her brows in frustration.
"What for?"
"It's my fault you got into trouble... if you didn't have to go to the office you-"
"Stop right there." I interject. "I chose to bash that guys nose in and I'm dealing with the consequences."
"But there is one thing that really has me stumped..." I quickly put the pieces together.
"What is it?"
"I thought they caught the killer... so how was he able to hurt anybody else?"
"We're not exactly sure..." Dewy exhales. "Not only was Billy in jail when the attack happened, but we checked all of his call records and he has been cleared and released."
Then the killer is still out there? I swallow the lump that had formed in my throat.
"I want to go home." I whine.
"Are you sure you're alright to leave?" Sidney asks, concern in her eyes. "The doctor said they would hold you until tomorrow morning."
"No... I'm fine, just a little shaken up. I'd rather lay in my own bed."
"Alright." Dewy smiles. "I'll let the doctor know."
He gets up, making his way out into the hallway.
It was just me and Sidney left in the room. As her hands cupped mine I could feel a comforting warmth travel though my body. It was an indescribable feeling of safety and reassurance that I didn't want to let go of.
"Dont worry, whoever this killer is... he'll pay for what hes done." Her dark eyes were full of strength and determination I couldn't help but believe every word that she said.
"you can go." The doctor speaks as head Dewy enter the room.
"but take these, they will calm your nerves and hopefully help you sleep through the night." He passes me a small orange bottle. "Dissolve them under your tongue."
"thank you." I nod.
"ill give you a ride home." Dewy offers.
"Where's Stu?" I ask.
"He went on ahead, something about catching up on an assignment." Sidney sighs.
"Alright." I get up, finally releasing Sidney's grip on my fingers.
"You know, if you need to talk I'm only a phone call away." She smiles.
My heart flutters in my chest. Her genuine concern is touching, a feeling I was not used to. Although I love my family they could always be somewhat cold... even Stu, who I was the closest with usually lent a blind eye to my feelings.
"Thanks Sid, I feel a lot better now."
Part 3
I step out of the police car into an empty driveway. My family had already left town. They probably hadn't even heard about what had happened to me that day.
I go inside and quietly shut the door behind me. It was getting late and I didn't want to interrupt Stu's studies...
I go into the kitchen and make my way to the phone. I should really call my parents and tell them what happened. If they find out from somebody else they are sure to be pissed.
When I pick up the receiver I can hear Stu's voice on the other end. Assignment my ass. I hold my breath as I bring the phone up to my ear. I know I shouldn't eavesdrop but curiosity has always been a weakness of mine.
"Are you sure it's safe to talk on this phone?" I hear Billy's voice.
"Yes dude, the fam's out of town. Nibling's at the hospital for the night. Were good." Stu replies.
"why didn't you just call me on your burner phone?"
Why would they need a burner phone to speak? what do they plan on talking about? now I definitely have to listen.
"Cuz... I may or may not have lost it, okay?" Stu groans.
"you're lucky I'm still talking to you after you almost got my ass locked up." Billy spat. "You're lucky I didn't rat you out."
Rat him out...? for what?
"And I'll be forever grateful." Stu chuckles. "But get this, I got a plan for our next hit."
"I don't feel comfortable talking about this over the phone. Let's meet up at our usual spot. "
"okie doke. Be there in a minute." Stu hangs up the phone.
I hear his door open upstairs and I quickly duck behind the counter as I hear Stu sprint down the stairs and out the door.
I wait a few moments to ensure that he is actually gone and slowly make my way up the stairs. Stu's behaviour has been strange since I moved in with him... and Billy, although proven innocent, gives me a strange feeling in my stomach.
Against my better judgement I decide to sneak into Stu's room, I need to know what he could be hiding. I start to sift through his belongings, desperate to find something that doesn't belong.
I pull open his drawers. All of his clothing was thrown haphazardly into it. I resist the urge to fold it neatly, I can't let him know I'm doing this.
While I was sat on the floor I notice a box underneath his bed. I lay onto my stomach and use my arms to slide myself underneath. I sneeze with the embarrassing amount of dust under his mattress and pull a dirty sock out of my hair. Nasty.
I grab onto the box and scoot myself back out. I brush myself clean and kneel beside the box.
As I lift the lid I am not surprised to see that it is full of photos of topless women. Ugh, how tasteless. I rub my forehead. I could really just stop here and let it go... but that wasn't me. I couldn't possibly let my questions go unanswered.
I pick out all of the explicit photos and lay them to the side. Underneath them all laid a gray backpack, the same one I saw Stu wearing that night he was going to 'hang with Billy'. Why would he hide it like this?
Inside was a mass of black fabric. I reach in to pull it out and something sharp slices my hand across my palm.
"Ow! what the heck was that?" I shout audibly.
I flip the backpack upside down onto the floor and out falls a black robe. I unfold it to reveal a white halloween mask, a pair of gloves and a hunting knife that had been wrapped inside.
"what...? why...?" I murmur as I unzip the front pocket with my bloodied hand, I hadn't realized how much I had been bleeding.
Inside the pocket was some type of device. I hold down the button on its side.
"What is this?" As I speak the machine repeats my voice back to me in a deep, raspy tone. It's a voice changer.
My hands start to shake as I quickly come to the realization.
A disguise... a weapon... an alibi... Stu couldn't really be... the killer? and Billy his accomplice?
My thoughts are interrupted by the sound of the front door slamming.
I panic and quickly stuff everything back into the box and slide it underneath his bed once again.
I can hear a couple of sets of footsteps walking up the stairs toward me and I run into the closet, softly sliding the doors closed behind me.
"Since it's going to be my party ill have to make an appearance." Stu speaks as he and Billy enter the room. I watch them through the small gaps in the closet door.
"So I'll move in first while you distract the guests." Billy adds.
"Exactly." Stu grins. "Then, part way through the party we switch. That way you'll make an appearance as well and I can have a bit of fun."
"But how are we going to frame Sidney's father for this. That is the main point."
"I haven't thought that far yet." Stu scratches his head.
"We'll have to kidnap him beforehand. He needs to be at the scene of the crime when everything goes down." Billy adds.
"I got a closet downstairs we can shove him in."
"Perfect. Nobody will believe his word against ours, the only survivors." Billy smiles genuinely and it sends a shiver down my spine.
My heart feels as if it is going to burst out of my chest as I watch Stu reach underneath his bed and pull out the box.
I hold my breath as Billy slowly approaches the closet, his head hanging down toward the floor.
"My stuff!" Stu shouts. " It's not how I left it!"
"I know why..." Billy grins as he glares through the hair in his face.
"Why?" Stu asks in shock.
Billy looks toward me as he points to a trail of blood splatter that lead into the closet.
waking up and being dragged back to bed with sid 🥺
omg brickie i just found this buried in my drafts idk why i never posted it im so sorry
anyways i- enjoy soft boy sid
you could see the sun through your eyelids, peaking through your curtains that were meant to prevent this problem. it woke you with ease, targeting you rather than the man behind you for whatever reason. sidney was usually up before you, but the last few days had been grueling for him, and his morning were beginning to start later than usual.
you turned around to face him, reaching up to fix pieces of his hair despite the fact that you were the only one that knew they were out of place. he looked so serene here in bed under the sun that you didn’t dare wake him. his ability to sleep through small touches and sounds allowed you to press a gentle kiss to his forehead before reluctantly sliding from his grasp.
you made your way downstairs, starting a pot of coffee before letting the dog out into the backyard. you kept an eye on her while she pranced around the yard for a bit before wandering back into the house and leading you straight to your freshly brewed coffee.
you had only taken three sips of your coffee before you heard heavy footsteps coming down the stairs. you turned over your shoulder, wearing a soft smile by the time he rounded the corner. his sweats sat low on his hips, torso void of any clothing which didn’t surprise you much.
what did surprise you was when he ignored your greeting and instead walked straight up to you and lifted you off of your feet. your free hand clung to his shoulder quickly as you let out a soft laugh, unsure of where he was going with this.
“i made coffee.” sidney pressed a kiss to your shoulder as a silent thank you and wrapped your legs around his waist.
“back to bed.” he mumbled against your skin, giving you a second to place your mug on the counter before leaving the kitchen and climbing the stairs.
“sid-”
“bed.”
your back hit the mattress, sandwiching you between your bed and your boyfriend who made no attempt to move out of your grasp. your arms were still hooked around his neck and your ankles still locked between his back, but he seemed content enough with it. he pressed his cheek to your chest and let out a deep sigh of content before melting into you.
your fingers made their way into his hair, threading themselves through his locks while scratching gently at his scalp. you were sure that if he relaxed anymore that he’d crush you, but you weren’t sure you’d mind it much.
“do you have anything you have to do today?” it’s soft both in volume and tone, and it makes you smile wider than you ever cared to do so early in the morning.
“spending the day in bed with my handsome boyfriend.” you kissed the top of his head and felt him laugh into you.
“lucky guy.” he turns his head so he can see you, a small smile pulling at his lips in the process.
“i’d say i’m the lucky one.” you whispered softly, leaning forward the slightest bit to catch his lips in a soft kiss.
I'm back again! This time, could you maybe write an Sydney x reader, where the reader is a trainer he runs into here and there and eventually gets a crush on, but the reader has literally no clue who he is despite crushing back? And Sydney tries to give hints but the reader doesn't get it until they're challenging the Elite Four and meet him there? Sorry it became so long! Do your best!
Hello, hello! Oooh, interesting, I like Sidney! I hope you enjoy!
The first time you run into Sidney, it’s right outside of Fortree city and by chance. He was training his Absol, trying to perfect his strategy with Mega Evolution, when you came by. You were prepping to spend the next few days heading to Lilycove training and prepping for your next gym challenge.
You had seen them training and asked him for a battle. He thought it was pretty bold of you, but soon realized you didn’t recognize him. It made him smile as you treated him like any other trainer.
The battle was nice despite the difference in level between his pokemon and yours, but he could see your spark and knew you would be at his level in no time. Afterwards, you seemed lively as you thanked him for the battle as it offered you insight to what you need to work on.
After that, he started appearing in more places you would be. Checking in on your training until your meetings got more casual and the two of you would find places to eat and just talk. He found the way you look at the world adorable and he appreciated your bluntness.
It wasn’t until the whole trouble with Team Aqua that he realized he cared more for you than he was willing to admit. He was at your side, battling grunts with you and protecting you from any harm. You knew about your feelings for him but kept it low key for the sake of your own journey. But it was hard to ignore his random visits, the gifts he brought with him and his gaze across the battlefield.
You did your best to keep your feelings wrapped and by the time you started challenging the elite four, the adrenaline was giving you the courage to take the chance. Each step to the first field breathed courage in you and you started to plan a way to tell him when you froze at the top step.
Grinning at you, the same endearing grin as always, was Sidney. He watched your confusion turn to recognition and then embarrassment as you realized why he was there. His speech was much more personal and, in order to stay focused, you tried not to flirt back.
At the end of the battle, you finally beat him, you rush up to him and wrap your arms around his neck. He accepts your kiss, lifting you and spinning you, before setting you on the ground. Breathless and still on a high from the battle, you curse him for his timing and make him promise to have dinner with you that night.
Warnings: SPOILERS for the fifth Scream movie (2022), Injury, Blood, Death (mentioned), Swearing
Genre: Romance, Angst, Hurt/Comfort
Summary: What if instead of Judy, Ghostface stabs a deputy that arrives there before her. Deputy L/N.
Requested by @daydreamsofbee Hi dear! Thank you so much for your request and I’m sorry it took me so long to write your fic - I was stalling to watch the movie because I had Dewey’s death spoiled for me 😭 - but here it finally is and I hope you enjoy the read! Love, Vy ❤
“Hey Dewey! What can I do for you?“ This has become a regular thing between the long time friends.
Ever since Dewey’s retirement, Y/N has been his main source of police work news. Cases they’re working on, suspects they’re questioning, criminals that have been caught, etc. Dewey has been of great help to investigations as well, no that Y/N’s ever disclosed him as her secret helper but their dynamic works well.
“Hey there, Deputy. I need you to keep an eye on this new Nancy Drew in town. Billy Loomis’ daughter, Samantha Carpenter and her boyfriend....“
“Richie Kirsch.“ She finishes his sentence for him, “How do you know about them anyway?“
“They stopped by my place earlier. Ghostface strikes again and you don’t tell me? That’s real nice of you, Y/N.“ He mutters bitterly, earning himself an eye-roll from the woman.
“I didn’t want to freak you out! You’ve dealt with this shit enough already.“ She argues, pinching the bridge of her nose.
That’s really the truth, she didn’t want this reaching Dewey or Sidney or Gale. Of course, she couldn’t prevent the news reporter from catching wind of it but Dewey was a more difficult task.
“You’ve been dealing with it for just as long as I have!“ That’s true too.
Y/N has been on the target list since the days of Billy Loomis and Stu Macher and who’s to say she’s been taken off it now. She can never seem to catch a break: from Stu using her as bait by kindling a close friendship with her, to Mickey who she even dated at one point to Roman who she became friends with and even slept with a couple of times. She’s never been far from the killer, always mere minutes from receiving a blade through the back if the killer wanted that. She thanks her lucky stars for making it this far with a pulse.
“As a retired Sherriff, you’re allowed to catch a break from the chaos, Dewey. On the other hand, it’s my duty to help stop this asshole.“ She counters his point with her own before battling the pit in her stomach to finally bring herself to ask the question that’s looming in the cop car with her ever since she exchanged the first line of conversation with him. “Did you tell Sidney?“
“Yes.“ The answer causes her to squeeze her eyes shut. This is the one thing she was praying wouldn’t happen and yet.... “But don’t worry, she’s not coming back here....ever. She’s safe.“
Hearing that evokes a bittersweet feeling in the Deputy. On one hand she’s happy to hear that her friend is safe and won’t be getting sucked into the chaos anytime soon or, as Dewey said, ever. But on the other....that means she’ll never see Sidney again and that seriously stings. Makes her regret all the times she could’ve come clean about her feelings but ended up being too much of a coward instead.
“ Ok, that’s great....“ She’s found herself unable to find a proper reply but, just her luck, the police radio goes off, Sherriff Hicks asking for backup to her house immediately. “Gotta go, Dewey!” She says quickly, hanging up the call and stepping on the gas.
Checking the GPS, she sees that she’s only mere five minutes away from the location but with the way she’s speeding, she’ll make it there in three, probably the first to make it there entirely. Regardless, with the panic in Judy’s voice, Y/N can’t step on that gas enough. She can only guess Wes is the one in danger and for that this car cannot go fast enough. Y/N’s hand tightly grip the steering wheel, making intents in the leather.
If that fucker lays a finger on Wes....
The car comes to a halting stop by the curb in front of the Hicks home. Gun drawn, Deputy L/N jumps out of the car, carefully but quickly approaching the house.
Unfortunately, not carefully enough.
A blade has breached her skin and flesh right below the hem of her bulletproof vest before she’s even been able to register the masked figure standing in front of her.
“Y/N L/N.“ The grumbled voice says with an infuriating snark to the tone, “Must say, I’m a big fan.“
With that the knife is retracted from Y/N’s abdomen just for it to be stabbed into her three more times.
Y/N’s vision goes black, all her muscles screaming in unison at the pain as her body falls limp into the pool of blood forming beneath her on the pavement.

"Sidney." The name falls from Gale's lips in a mix of surprise and content, both caused by the sight of the woman standing in front of her in the hospital lobby.
She gets up from her seat, giving the newcomer a hug.
"I came as soon as I heard. I'm so sorry." Sidney replies, the hurt evident in her voice as she wraps her arms around Gale who can no longer hold back her sobs.
One would say she should have gotten used to seeing people drop like flies but that could not be more false. Sidney knows that best.
"You shouldn't be here." The older woman says as the two pull away, looking into each other's eyes, seeing their hurt looking right back at them.
"You shouldn't either." Sidney replies, earning her a small sigh from Gale.
"I know, and I don't plan on sticking around. God knows I'd be on the first flight home after the...funeral, but I can't leave while Y/N's still in the state she's in." She explains, the pain in her chest unwavering.
However, the name she dropped seems to knock Sidney out of balance for a moment as she comprehends everything, "Wait, Y/N as in Y/N L/N?"
"Deputy L/N herself indeed." Gale nods, confirming Sidney's worries.
All this time she's been away from Y/N she's never stopped wondering how she's been holding up, what she has been up to. And yet, not a single one of those times was she able to pick up the phone and give her used-to-be best friend a call. Not even once and especially not after she married Mark. When her daughters were born she was the first person she wanted to call after leaving the hospital and tell her the good news. She was the first person she wanted to call after her divorce a few months ago, seek comfort. But alas she didn't.
Why? Now that she cannot answer. Or rather, she's afraid to.
"What happened to her?" The tightness in her chest increases in the two seconds it takes Gale to reply to her question.
"Ghostface got a bit too stab-friendly, was aiming to turn her insides into outsides but luckily Sherriff Hicks arrived at the scene on time. She's in one piece again but high on painkillers constantly, asleep 24/7. I don't know what to say...but she isn't doing well, that's all I know."
Sidney's heart sinks.
"C-Can I see her?" She stutters out, her words breaking up as they stumble out of her sore, dry throat.
"Room 103 in the ICU." And Sid is off, " Oh, and tell Louisa to get her ass here immediately so I can drive her to school or I'll go get her myself!" Gale shouts after her, her words not exactly reaching her through the fog in her brain which now is working solely on navigating her to Y/N's room.
The scavenger hunt ends once she finds herself in front of a door with the number 103 on it. It's safe to say she barges in so quickly she almost takes the door off its hinges. And most definitely startles the shit out of the girl sitting in the chair by the hospital bed.
Panic is evident in her eyes until a spark of recognition flashes in them. She gets up from her seat and motions for Sidney to follow her back out into the hallway.
"You're Sidney Prescott." She declares in a hushed tone the woman was expecting to be accusatory but wasn't. It was more amazed than anything.
"Y-Yes." Sid stutters as she tries reading the girl's expression but failing to do so because of how numb and emotionless her features are. She sees a lot of herself in her, a lot of the reflection she saw in the mirror after her mom died.
"Mom has told me a lot about you. All good things, don't worry." She gives a faint smile, "Oh, sorry, I'm Louisa, by the way, her daughter."
"Nice to meet you, I'm sorry it's under these circumstances though." The older woman says, placing a hand on the girl's shoulder. "And I'm sorry you have to go through this. You're just a kid....you don't deserve any of these."
Louisa shakes her head, "Neither did my mom. She was actually a year younger than I am now when she first had to deal with murderous freaks. You didn't deserve it either. You were both just kids....but it seems like it's all coming back around full circle."
"Hey." Sidney takes hold of the girl's other shoulder as well, "We'll break this fucking pattern, ok? Once and for all."
The teenager nods before a sob wracks her body, "I just want mom to wake up. I want her to come home, hug me and Michael and tell us that it'll all be alright."
Sid pulls her in for a hug which she gladly accepts, "Is Michael your brother?" She feels the girl nod against her shoulder, "How old is he?"
"Seven." She weakly replies.
"Does he know?" The girl shakes her head, "Good." She pulls away from the hug to look Louisa in the eyes, "He'll never have to know. You'll neve have to explain why mom won't be coming home cause she'll come home, ok? She'll wake up and she'll be back to being the bossy pushover she can sometimes be. She's a walking, talking boulder." This gets a laugh out of the crying girl, "And I see you've inherited that from her. So, wipe those tears away and go give Michael a big hug, don't let him miss Y/N. Missing a mother is the most painful feeling ever."
Louisa nods again, following Sidney's instructions as she straightens he posture and dries her cheeks, "Thank you." She whispers with a faint smile that somehow manages to grace her features.
She's got the same smile as Y/N, Sidney thinks to herself.
Just then, a voice booms through the hallway, "Louisa!"
It's Gale.
"Right.." Unlike the confused Sidney, Louisa knows exactly what's going on, "I have to get to school."
With that the two exchange goodbyes and depart, leaving Sidney to have to face the task of walking back into that hospital room again.
After a brief sigh and a sharp inhale she makes her way inside. But things are different this time.
For example, Y/N's eyes are open.
"Thought I recognized that voice...." The Deputy chuckles, "Wait, it's really you, right? I don't know what to believe anymore...these pills are killing my perception."
Sidney's emotional disbalance counters Y/N's casual and calm tone. She squats down by the bed, taking the patient's hand in hers, "Oh God, Y/N, it's me. From head to toe, the Angel of Death herself."
The other woman giggles, "Don't call yourself that. And what brings you here, anyway? Thought you'd never step foot here again."
That's when it hits Sidney - She doesn't know.
She contemplates telling her, really not looking forward to being the one to break the awful news to her but postponing the inevitable is also not at all gonna help the situation. It's only gonna hurt more and she's well aware of that.
So she takes the painful alternative...
"I came as soon as I heard....Dewey was killed.....I'm so sorry, Y/N. I'm so fucking sorry...." She stumbles over her words before trailing off, tears prickling her eyes so she chooses to squeeze them shut.
A tear slips out of Y/N's.
"Oh, God, why did he have to involve himself?! I knew it was a bad idea! Why wasn't I there to protect him?! What kind of fucking friend am I?! Why him?! Why am I alive and he's not?!" The woman sobs, for the first time since she woke up wishing that she really was dead.
"Shh, shh..." With tears of her own staining her shirt, Sidney hugs the guilt-ridden, dread-filled woman, "He'd hate for you to be keeping him company right now. He'd much rather have you here to avenge him. Please, Y/N, for me, for Gale and for Dewey but most importantly for your kids, please, don't crumble. Don't lose yourself, cause the you I know will pick herself up and kick ass like nothing ever happened."
But many things have happened and all of them have slowly been piling up. Starting that night at Stu's house up until this very point. She's cheated death too many times, almost always at the hands of the people she trusted so much. Stu betrayed her, she didn't care. The man she was starting to fall in love with ended up being a serial killer, an utter psychopath. It broke her, but no one noticed. Getting betrayed by Roman felt like a hit a spot where pain receptors no longer work. Like a punch to a brick wall. She had grown numb. Numb to pain and sadness only.
The last two times she's felt great pain like this is when she lost Sidney and the other when she lost her fiancée to a drunk driver a year ago.
It's safe to say this woman hasn't cried nearly as enough as she's wanted and needed to throughout the years.
"I will. I promise I will." She sniffles, "But for now I just want to let it all out."
"I'll be here while you do so." Sidney squeezes her hand tighter, a seal to the promise that she won't be leaving her side anytime soon.
* * * * *
"Mama loves you, Mikey. See you soon, baby. Bye." Sidney catches the last part of Y/N's phone call from outside her room door.
It's nice to see her being able to stay conscious for longer periods of time. She's still in the ICU though, so nothing is to be said for certain about the future. Sidney and Y/N both are just happy for the current moments they have.
"You're a wonderful mother, Y/N. I always knew you would be." She tells the Deputy as she waltzes her way in.
She chuckles in response, "Remember that I swore up and down I'd never have kids? Look at me now. Thought I'd stay a party girl forever."
"I think you got it all out of your system in high school and college." Sidney laughs as she settles in the chair by Y/N's bed. "Remember our first high school party?"
The other woman gasps, "How could I not?! I was ready to murder those two girls, they were being so annoying. That was my first official fight."
"And you would've gotten your ass kicked if I didn't get us out of there." Sid comments, making Y/N laugh.
"Fair enough....I felt so bad for cutting our night short. But at least we got to rewatch Breakfast at Tiffany's again at your place."
The brunette shrugs, "I didn't mind at all. I always would've preferred
a quite night in with you than going out to party."
A moment of silence falls over the two, the air thickening with memories they've both been grasping onto as to not let them be shadowed by all the bad that laced their youth.
"How's Kincaid?" Y/N is the one to put an end to the reminiscing quiet.
"You don't care." Sidney replies but through a small laugh which is surprising to say the least.
She's not wrong, though - Y/N really doesn't care. She didn't really care or like Billy, or Derek...you see the pattern here?
"Ok, how are the kids then?" She retorts with a playful eye roll.
This question she does get an answer to, "They're doing well. I just hope this co-parenting thing and the divorce won't affect them badly. Mark and I are doing out best to not let them sense a difference but I'm still worried."
"Communicate it properly to them, make sure they understand that it's not their fault. Make sure to assure and reassure them every chance you get that you love them and will never stop loving them, both you and Kincaid. I know how hard it must be to explain that to kids with a single digit age, but maybe that'll give you an advantage."
"What about you and...whoever the lucky man is?" The woman nudges her friend's leg.
Y/N sighs, "He isn't lucky at all. I just hope he runs into Dewey up in heaven so they can keep each other company."
Sidney squeezes Y/N's hand in a comforting gesture, choosing not to say anything, knowing the Y/H/C will understand her regardless.
"You know, sometimes I wonder how different things would've been if I wasn't a coward. How many lives could be saved. I mean, Bronson would probably still be alive right now if he never met me, if we didn't start dating etc. He wouldn't have even been in Woodsboro. But then again I wouldn't have Michael and Louisa in my life so it's a bittersweet reflection." Y/N finally finds it in her to sat what's been bothering you for what feels like forever now. It's not far off the mark though - it's been a decade of her holding back everything, not to mention that it started even way before that.
"You're not a coward, Y/N. You've never been. You may see yourself that way but I hope you know nobody agrees with you. Not a single soul. I owe you my life. I've indebted it to you several times." Sidney runs her thumb over her friend's bruised knuckles, a pit forming in her stomach at the thought of all the lost time between them. How things would have been different if she wasn't a coward.
"Just because I'm courageous in one department doesn't mean I am that way in all aspects of my life. I've never been able to go after what I want or who I want. I've never been able to stay true to myself or anyone really. I wish I told you all I wished would just come out of me unexpectedly. I wish I said something instead of waiting and hoping you'd read my mind." Y/N runs her hands through her hair, avoiding Sidney's gaze the whole time before her palms cover her face as a protective gesture that's become a habit when she can't run from or fix a certain awkward or uncomfortable situation.
"What are you saying, Y/N?" The brunette, while with a good guess on her hands, doesn't want to go out on a limb here.
"I'm saying that, since day one I've been constantly in love with you, Sid. Constantly. Never once did that change. I've always loved you, but I've been in love with you too this whole time. And I'm sorry you're hearing this under these circumstances and in this messed up period of your life, but I don't know if I'll ever make it out of this ICU so I better tell you, you know? Before the coward me kicks in and shuts me up." She sighs heavily, her hands still covering her eyes, "Feel free to walk out on me if you'd like, I'll fucking deserve it. Don't worry, I won't take it personally, just....don't say anything, ok?"
Sidney really sticks to that - she doesn't say anything. Not when she leans forward, not when she removes Y/N's hands off her face and most definitely not when her lips collide with hers.
There's a whirlwind of emotions within the the both of them at the moment, there always has been but it's now come to a boiling point, a culmination neither of them could've predicted - especially wouldn't have guessed it would happen in their forties. Never would've thought they'd wait so long to say it. Who's to say they ever would've said it at all. They're both a little cowardly in this very aspect, both having held onto something for so long it's become an aching part of them. Letting it go now out in the open feels practically unreal.
The kiss is brief, hesitant and too instant for Y/N to even process it properly before her eyes meet Sidney's again.
"I'm never walking out on you again, Y/N. I promise you. I'm never walking out on you again. I've made that mistake too many times in the past and I don't plan on repeating it." Sidney's hands replace the hold Y/N's had on her face, but her touch is more gentle, cupping her cheeks. It's not meant to protect her per se, it's more to pull her in, to reassure her of her safety in her arms. Promise her that she'll always be safe in her arms. "I-I've never been the best at...feelings? And that hasn't changed even now. But you've been patient with me thus far, God bless your heart, I'm asking you to wait on me just a little longer. I love you too much to lose you and I'm too in love with you to leap in a relationship without pulling my act together and risk hurting you in the process. Can you do that? Wait for me just a bit longer?"
A smile lights up Y/N's face like Sidney last remembers seeing back in the early days of college - before Mickey and Roman, before Derek and Kincaid. She remembers it all too well and is so glad to see it hasn't been snuffed out of Y/N completely throughout the years. They're both holding onto a small piece of themselves it seems they've only reserved for each other.
"I'll wait for you, Sid, I've spent my whole life waiting for a miracle and now....what's just a bit more time compared to a quarter decade? I can hold your hand throughout it all or remain at a six feet distance, whatever you want or need." Y/N nods eagerly, her forehead resting against Sidney's.
"Let's start with getting you out of the ICU first. And then you gotta promise me you won't be pulling dangerous stunts like this. Understood?"
"A Deputy's word, ma'am."
There's a lot still ahead of them they'll need to yet deal with but there's a lot of stuff they've left behind which they'll now have to uncover and dust off to be able to move forward. There's plenty they left unsaid and things they wish they did but never had the courage to. Plus there's ten years worth of catching up for them to do. These two never can seem to catch a break.
But for now, they aren't gonna busy their minds with that. Instead, they're perfectly content reconnecting that kiss from a few moments ago, but making it last longer this time.
