Regal track Silent Lions has a glamorous old-school pop feel. It is pulled from Wellington, New Zealand garage pop duo (Oli & Callum Devlin) Hans Pucket 's self titled debut LP that is available to stream on Bandcamp. Go and have a listen to this superb release!
8 track album
Collaboration yields wonderful results within limiting time constraints; in this case, two incredible musicians combined forces and revealed talent that reaches far beyond expectations. Dean Tartaglia, of Toledo's Silent Lions, and Jacob Sigman, of Ann Arbor's San Cristobał, have shared mutual admiration and the stage prior to this spontaneous project. The duo worked under the format of an 8in8 (8 songs written and recorded in 8 hours) and the results are stunning. Tartaglia lends his buttery vocals and saxophone flare to a project grounded in experimental songwriting and luscious vocal harmonies. Dabbling in jazz rhythm, folk, post-rock, dance music and even emo, the collaborative piece offers an eclectic peak at the abundant creativity of two up-and-coming musicians with the intimacy of a bedroom smoke session. Released by NAH Collective, Dean & Jacob playfully and appropriately titled their project "Let's Get High & Listen to Explosions in the Sky."

Originally conceived in Toledo, OH and now currently based in Detroit, MI, the duo of Dean Tartaglia and Matt Klein, better known as Silent Lions have been called a sinister two-some of heavy soul by some, thanks to material that employes the use of an affected octave bass, sampled synths and manipulated, atmospheric vocals by Tartagilia and Klein's soulful melodies. And as you'll hear on "Runnin' Me Down," the first single off the band's sophomore effort, The Compartments EP the band has been described as sounding much like of the Black Keys, and a mash of Hall and Oates meeting Rage Against the Machine -- and although those are somewhat fair comparisons, I'm reminded of Zach de la Rocha's collaboration with Jon Theodore, One Day As a Lion, as they both have a sense of throbbing and insistent menace. Granted, the major difference is how bluesy Silent Lions are but you'll get the point.
