Si può ipotizzare che la prova ideata da Severus Piton per proteggere la Pietra Filosofale (così come raccontato nel primo libro della serie Harry Potter) sfrutti una duplice barriera forse di Fuoco Perpetuo e che le due pozioni che servono ad attraversarlo agiscano sulla composizione chimica della persona, dato che assumono le qualità del ghiaccio.

Ma la questione che merita di essere analizzata è un'altra: come mai, di tutto il corpo insegnante che ha contribuito alla protezione della pietra, l'unico che ha tirato fuori un rimario è proprio Piton?

Cioè, Silente durante l'estate chiama un po' di colleghi fidati attorno a sé, gli comunica le proprie esigenze e dopo qualche giorno ognuno propone qualcosa di grandioso, di complesso, un po' per il piacere di fare il proprio lavoro, un po' per impressionare il proprio datore di lavoro; Piton mette in campo le proprie conoscenze sia da pozionista sia da amateur delle Arti Oscure (il Fuoco Perenne), il proprio guizzo logico, una certa esperienza con le pagine dei cruciverba dei quotidiani (nei film ha sempre un giornale in mano, particolare che ho sempre trovato molto divertente) e poi - cos'altro? - un'insospettabile verve poetica (!). Non oso immaginare la faccia tra lo sbalordito e l'esaltato che avrà tirato fuori Silente quando avrà iniziato a leggere la pergamena con l'indovinello in rima (una cosa del tipo "Sempre detto che eri un ragazzo sensibile sotto quello strato di tessuto nero e odio per i bambini. E Minerva che mi diceva di non assumerti...").

Ecco cosa ha recitato quel giorno:

Che dire? Una filastrocca con poche regole metriche, se non l'uso di una rima baciata (AABB) e il ritmo cadenzato. Il testo è molto conciso, particolare che ben si adatta alle abitudini comunicative dell'autore, ma estremamente elementare, il ciò è l'ideale per un pubblico di lettori giovani, ma poco credibile quale barriera logica per frenare un terribile Mago Oscuro.

Ma, al di là di questo particolare, come mai di questa passione per le rime se ne parla più in nessuno dei sette/otto libri? Non dico una scena dove Rita Skeeter presenta il suo nuovo successo, "Le rime segrete del professore. Le filastrocche di Severus Piton cosa ci dicono della sua propensione ad ammazzare gli anziani?", ma neanche un rimbrotto con Sirius Black che gli da del finocchio perché gli piace la poesia? Perché la Rowling non la smette di avercela coi Trans e non si concentra su cose più serie? Noi fan non abbiamo forse diritto a saperne di più?
