I’m so tired of the argument from JC shippers that their ship needs to go canon to “prove” a female captain in Starfleet can have love and career success.
Michael Burnham already did that.
(Geordi’s mom did it, too, before Janeway even existed, so that’s two Black female captains ignored in that analysis.)
Just admit you want your ship to go canon and stop trying to make it a social justice issue.

wouldn't it be cool to have the mystery of the uss hera resolved or at least addressed in star trek discovery? if the latter is giving us a time travel storyline with a federation starship, requiring that discovery be wiped from federation records and essentially disappear without a trace, wouldn't it be cool to introduce a twist with hera's captain silva la forge and her crew finding itself in a similar experience?
I love the episode from TNG, because by not resolving his mother's unexplained disappearance, and the federation declaring the hera to be missing in action, the episode is able to use geordi to address difficult questions of grief, regret, and acceptance of what cannot be known. but I also feel like these themes resonate so much with those who knew of discovery, were ordered to forget about the ship and its crew, and what they'd have to deal with in the aftermath of discovery's travel to the future.
plus, the echo of geordi and his mother with michael and her mother is just so bittersweet and compelling.
Silva La Forge had to missing because she was too much of a milf Riker would've taken one look at her and said "Geordi I can't not try to bang your mom" and there would've been nothing Geordi could do about it
Captain Silva La Forge: Commanding Officer, U.S.S. Hera. Kept in touch regularly with her son, Geordi. Disappeared in 2370 while on a courier mission from Deep Space Three. After a six-day search her ship and crew were officially declared missing, presumed lost.
During this time, the Enterprise was on a mission Marijne VII where an alien creature needing help to return to their native space took the form of Captain La Forge to convince Geordi La Forge to help them in that effort.
Captain Silva La Forge appeared in TNG’s “Interface” and was played by Madge Sinclair who had previously played Captain Margaret Alexander in Star Trek IV.

I kinda wish the TNG episode Interface had concluded with Silva La Forge and the crew of the Hera revealed to be alive. I didn’t mind the actual conclusion of the episode (that aliens from the planet were communicating with Geordi to help them) but I would’ve preferred the other scenario. I also wish that at some point, either in the remainder of TNG or in Picard that we’d gotten a definitive answer as to what happened to the Hera. Even if the ship had been confirmed destroyed and the crew killed, I would have liked that better than the ship just having gone missing and its disappearance never solved.
