Hello! I was wondering how I might type myself? When alone and in my own head, I am a textbook ENTJ. However, when with friends and actually in a group setting, Fe feels like my dominant function. I am constantly maintaining group harmony, whether inclusive or in the manipulation side of Fe. I embody that function. I react more like an empath and my thoughts (esp about efficiency & tolerance levels) are so much different than my "in my head personality," the ENTJ. What does this mean?
Well, it's important to remember that MBTI isn't a personality test, it's a cognitive style inventory.
So think about how you're going about making your decisions. Is it optimized for efficiency, or human reaction?
Do you have a natural inclination towards empathy, or not so much?
Fe-users generally will make their decisions based on how people will react or what people will do, and have a natural empathetic ability.
Te-users generally will make their decisions based on how efficient something will be, and often have a harder time gauging people's reactions and emotions.
So you can take the "in your head personality," considering that if you are an ENFJ, you'll still have Ti operating in your stack, which could easily lead to the "in your head" personality reading as an ENTJ.
My guess would be that if you have a natural inclination towards reacting like an empath, you probably are an ENFJ, not an ENTJ. Your Ti may just be extraordinarily strong.
