Braid Wrapped Bun

It’s officially summer!! That means it’s once again time for hot weather and hairstyles that will help keep your hair off of your face and neck. This is the first of the upcoming few bun tutorials I have planned. If you’re ever in a rush before heading out in the sun, this hairstyle is perfectly easy for the occasion!

Materials:

1) Brush

2) Large Hair Tie

3) Small Hair Tie

4) Bobby Pins

Procedure:

1) Begin by brushing your hair into a ponytail of your choice. I decided to go for one at the middle-back of my head.

2) Separate a small section of ponytail.

3) Braid this small section and tie off with a small hair tie.

4) Take the rest of the hair and twist it around itself.

5) Begin wrapping the twist around the main ponytail, making sure NOT to include the small braid.

6) Bobby pin the bun into place. 

7) Take the small braid and wrap it around the root of the bun.

8) Once again, bobby pin this into place and finish off with hairspray.

Waffle Bun

I might have been a little hungry when naming this hairstyle... Other than the fact that I may have had a slight craving for waffles, the reason behind naming this style the Waffle Bun is the intricate criss-cross pattern on the flat, round bun.  Despite looking complicated, this hairstyle only requires a few simple steps to get it looking just right!

Materials:

1) Brush

2) Large Hair Tie

3) 3 Small Hair Ties

4) Bobby Pins

Procedure:

1) Begin by brushing out your hair.

2) Tie your hair into a half up ponytail at the back of the head.

3) Split your hair into three even sections.

4) Braid each of the sections with a loose three-strand braid.

5) Create one large braid using the three smaller braids.  Do not tie off the end of this braid.

6) Once at the bottom of the braid, securely hold one of the three sections in one hand and the other two sections in the other.

7) While holding the single section in place, slide (scruch) the other two pieces upwards.

8) Pull the scruch apart slightly to give your braid more area.

9) Loosely wrap this braid around the initial hair elastic.

10) Shape and hold in place with bobby pins and hairspray.

Low Triple Buns

This hairstyle is an easy updo, perfect for occasions both fancy and casual.  The Low Triple Buns are a quick way to get your hair up and out of the way, while still looking pretty and complex.

Materials:

1) Brush

2) 6 Small Hair Elastics

3) Bobby Pins

Procedure:

1) Begin by brushing out your hair.

2) Tie your hair into 3 low ponytails.

3) Loosely braid each of the ponytails and tie off with another small hair elastic.

4) Begin to twist each braid around one of the original hair ties.

5) Bobby pin into place and finalize with hairspray.

Wrapped Braided Bun

This Wrapped Braided Bun is a comfortable way to keep your hair off of your face and neck.  The wrapped braids add extra detail to the bun, as well as keep the bun from sticking flat to the head.  Be sure to try out this hairstyle in the upcoming warm months!

Materials:

1) Brush

2) Large Hair Tie

3) 3 Small Hair Ties

4) Bobby Pins

Procedure:

1) Begin by brushing your hair and creating a centre part.

2) Separate approximately three inches of hair on each side of the part.

3) Tie the remaining hair into a tight low ponytail.

4) Braid all three sections of hair and tie off with small hair ties.

5) Wrap the braided ponytail around its hair elastic to create a bun.

6) Bobby pin into place.

7) Wrap the right braid up and around the newly created bun.

8) Secure using bobby pins.

9) Wrap the left braid up and around the bun.

10) Finalize with bobby pins and hairspray.

Fluffy Bun

Fluffy Bun?  Fan Bun?  Slinky Bun?  I’m still struggling to figure out the perfect name for this look!  No matter what it’s called, I love this hairstyle because it is a unique bun that only takes 5 easy steps to complete.  Another thing that is great about the style is that it creates a big, voluminous bun, even if you don’t have a lot of hair.

Materials:

1) Brush

2) 2 Hair Ties

3) Bobby Pins

Procedure:

1) Begin by brushing your hair into a high ponytail.

2) Re-tie your ponytail with a second hair tie on top of the first, but do not pull all of your hair through on the last loop.

3) Wrap the loose hair (not pulled through) around the base of the ponytail and bobby pin into place.

4) Take the top loop of your bun and fluff it out.

5) Bobby pin the ends of your bun down and to the shape of your choice and finalize with hairspray.

Knotted Bun

Easy hairstyle? - Check.  Can be totally DIY? - Check.  Takes less than five minutes? - Check.  Is a messy bun? - Check.  This Knotted Bun hits all the important points while looking amazing.  Try out this new take on a messy bun that works well for all. 

Materials:

1) Brush

2) 2 Hair Ties

3) Bobby Pins

Procedure:

1) Begin by brushing your hair.

2) Split your hair in half by creating a part directly down the middle of your head.

3) Tie each section, fairly close together, at the middle of your head.

4) Use the two sections to tie a knot.

5) Create a second knot on top of the first.  Make sure to keep it somewhat loose so that your hair does not end up tangled.

6) Take the remaining ends of your hair and wrap them around the knots.

7) Bobby pin the entire bun into place.  Don’t worry about getting every hair pinned in place perfectly as it is a messy bun!  Finalize with hairspray.
