I know this is cliche as shit ~ but can you pls do a single!dad + tattoo artist! Luke who sets off fireworks with his child's art teacher pleaseeeee?? x
(don’t worry anon I love a good cliche)
Luke knew everyone waslooking at him.
Not just because he was asingle dad. He was more than used to being the only parent present when there shouldbe two. The fact that Teddy only had one parent didn’t matter to either ofthem, his seven year old more than content with their home being a “boys onlyclub”.
No, it was more to do withhis appearance.
His skinny jeans andflannel were a stark contrast to the suits the fellow men around him werewearing, his messy hair the opposite of theirs. And of course, his rolled upsleeves were displaying only some of the inked designs that littered his body.Likewise, he knew his job was on the opposite end of the scale to what theother Dad’s did.
None of that matteredthough.
He smiled proudly as Teddydragged him across the room, pointing out the various pieces of work on thewalls that were his. Luke ignored the glares and disapproving looks of theother parents as he followed his son to his teacher’s desk, listening to hischeerful babble about she was his favourite teacher ever.
When he saw you however,Luke suddenly cared how he looked.
You grinned as Teddy letgo of Luke’s hand to run over to you, excitedly telling you that this was hisDaddy. When you aimed your smile at Luke, he couldn’t control the way hisfeatures rearranged into a smirk, naturally preparing to impress you.
“Teddy, you can go playwith everyone else.” You smile at his son before extending a hand. “It’s a pleasureto meet you Mr Hemmings.”
“Luke.” He shakes yourhand, letting his fingers linger on yours for a second, smirking more when yourcheeks flushed a little. “Teddy said you wanted to see me?”
“Just to show you hiswork.” You nod, leaning back to your desk to grab something. “Honestly, I was intriguedto meet the inspiration behind it.”
Luke’s smirk dissolved intoa grin as he looked at the drawing you held out to him, taking it from you tolook at it closely. It said “My favourite thing” at the top, and Teddy haddrawn Luke, tattoos and all.
“Atta boy.” He mutteredquietly, eyes returning to yours. “Well, here I am in the flesh.”
“Here you are.” You smirk, and Luke can’t help but grin. “Your son loves your tattoos, talks about yourdrawings all the time.”
“What can I say, the boyhas good taste.”
“Evidently.” You grin, andLuke’s smirk only grows. “This is unprofessional, but what if I wanted adrawing of my own?”
Luke chuckled, reachinginto his pocket to pull out his wallet. Grabbing one of his cards, he passed itto you with a wink, ignoring the stares he was no doubt getting from the otherparents.
For blurb night could you do a 4/4 or Luke where u meet his teen kid
At thirty three, this wasn’t the life you’d beenplanning.
Your career was what you always wanted it to be, andyour friends and family had only ever shown you love and support. But afterbeing left at the altar at age twenty six, you’d seriously taken a knock toyour confidence dating wise, unsure on how to make the next move.
And then you’d met Luke.
Also thirty three, and trying to get ‘back out there’as a single dad. The two of you had been dating for five months, and he’d toldyou all about how he’d become a Dad at eighteen, how she’d left him beforetheir child could even walk. He’d been so busy for the past fifteen yearsraising Flynn that he hadn’t had the chance to try and fall in love again. Butapparently his son had hand enough, and had forced his father out of the doorto meet people much like your friends had with you. Whatever Flynn had done hadworked, as it had led to Luke meeting you, and you owed the teenager a largethank you.
Tonight, you were meeting him for the first time.
“How do you even win over a teenage boy?” You groan toyour best friend, getting dressed to meet the Hemmings’ at the restaurant. “Atleast if he was a little kid I could have bought him a toy.”
“Try flashing your boobs.” Diane jokes, making you rollyour eyes. “It’ll be fine Y/N, if he’s anything like his father he’ll adore youin seconds.”
You took her word for it.
Entering the restaurant, your eyes landed on Lukeimmediately, a grin taking over his features as he crossed the room to meetyou.
“Hey.” He smiled, leaning down to brush his lips toyours quickly. “You look great.”
“You too.” You smile back, feeling calmer with yourhand in his. “How was work?”
“Nowhere near as interesting as you think it would be.”He jokes, leading you over to the table. He squeezes your hand when Flynn’shead lifts, his face emotionless as he looked at you with eyes so similar toLuke’s. “Flynn, this is Y/N. Y/N, my son Flynn.”
“Nice to meet you.” You smile at him, trying not to beput off by the teen’s void expression. “Your Dad’s told me so much about you.”
“So, you’re my new Mummy?”
“Flynn.” Luke groans as you both sit down. Suddenly, agrin that resembles Luke’s splits across the boy’s face, and he sticks his handout to you.
“Sorry, Uncle Mike paid me to ask. Dad never shuts upabout you, don’t blame him. The old man has good taste.”
As you shook his hand, you couldn’t help but laugh,Luke rolling his eyes beside you. He mumbled an apology in your ear as Flynnsimply smirked, and you sent him a wink when Luke looked away, causing thefifteen year old to grin.

Luke was about eighteen when he accidentally knocked up his girlfriend.
“Lu, I can’t do this,” she whimpered, unconsciously resting her hand on her lower abdomen. It was hell for her. She didn’t know if she could take the idea of pushing an actual human being out of her and then continue to support it for eighteen years and still pay their way through even more school. “We were so careful.”
After she clutched her hair in her hands, she carefully placed her trembling body beside Luke on the couch. Leaning her body into him, she finally let the first round of tears fall. Her chest felt tighter and tighter as she attempted to breathe. How could this have happened? She wasn’t ready to be a mom and Luke still left the toilet seat up every time he used the bathroom. How was he going to remember to even feed his child?
“Great! Now, I’m already a hormonal mess who’s going to cry over everything and have my feet expand to the size of Russia, and also i’m gonna get fat—really fat.”
Her babbling caused Luke to feel his actual heartbeat pulsate in his ears. He tried to think about what to say or what to do, but his mind was blank.
Luke wrapped his arm around her shaking body and kissed her forehead, mind still as blank as a piece of paper. What the hell was he supposed to do? He was only a boy, a boy who was still trying to finish college and make something of himself. He couldn’t raise a child.
“Baby, I promise we’re gonna get through this and we’re gonna be the best god damn parents in the world. I’m scared too, but we’re gonna be okay,” Luke promised while his hand slowly creeped down to rest on her lower abdomen. His large hand enveloped her small one that still rested on her stomach. “Our baby is going to have the best life ever.”
When Luke was twenty, his girlfriend decided that messy clothes, weird smells, and constant wailing from the child was not what she wanted for herself.
A mess of baby dolls, random pink and frilly socks, and doc mcstuffins toys littered the living room carpet as Luke and his girlfriend sat the same way they did when they realized she was pregnant. This time, she was slightly chubbier and her hair was a bun with so many hairs falling out of it. Her shirt had this weird orange stain she thinks Charlotte created when she didn’t want to eat dinner because she didn’t see her daddy, who was usually the person to feed her.
“Charlotte literally despises me,” she grumbled, resting her face in her palms. inhaling as deeply as she could. She leant against Luke, who was trying so hard not to fall asleep. He’s been too tired to even function. With the medical bills of his girlfriend’s pregnancy stacking up and him working his ass off to provide for Charlotte, the light that used to dance around in his eyes was dimming.
To top it off, his girlfriend never did anything and it frustrated Luke to no end. When he’s cradling Charlotte to his chest so she could stop crying and go to sleep, his girlfriend is in the other room wasting away as she thinks about what could have happened if her daughter never existed. She tried to be a mother, but it just wasn’t right for her.
Charlotte got sick once, had a fever and was constantly screeching and sobbing with her little lungs. While Luke was trying his best to shove some medicine down her throat because he wanted her to get better, his girlfriend was out and about at clubs with her friends. And when Luke tries to reason with her that she needs to make more of an effort to be a mom, she claims “I was pregnant for nine months and didn’t get to spend anytime with my friends. Sue me if i just wanted to have some fun.”
Luke didn’t want to hold her back from living her life, so he let her be.
Then, Luke had to go to a job interview two hours away and left Charlotte at home to be cared for by his girlfriend. The house was a mess when he arrived. His girlfriend was close to tears on the couch and Charlotte was sleeping soundly in her playpen that Luke kept close to the television because she liked to watch Sofia the First.
He sat beside her on the couch, reaching out to grab her hand and soothe her, yet she snapped and yanked her hand out of Luke’s soft grasp.
“Luke, I am done,” she breathed, looking around at the room in disgust. “I can’t be a mom. I can’t raise a child when I hate living like this. I feel trapped. I don’t want this,” she said, voice cracking and tears spilling from her eyes.
Even if Luke has been doing this whole raising a child thing by himself, fear creeped up into his mind at the thought of her leaving. “What? No, we can make this work and Charlotte will have-”
“The best God damn parents in the world, I know,” she finished, glancing at the sleeping one year old. She turned to Luke, her tears not as evident, but still there. “But I can’t be that parent for her. So, I’m going to leave.”
Luke’s heart fell. She was really going to leave and let her child grow up motherless. When she rose from the couch, the only thing Luke could do was try to stop his crying by standing up and following her to the bedroom. As she packed some of her stuff into her backpack, he wrapped his arms around her from behind her, begging her not to go.
“Please don’t go. Our baby needs you. I need you,” Luke sobbed as he buried his face into her hair, trying to remember her scent just in case she actually leaves and never comes back. “I can’t do this alone. Where are you gonna go? Will you be safe? Stay here.” He cried harder and he could have sworn his heart was really breaking by the way his chest was hurting. “Stay with me.”
Her bitter laugh made Luke’s tears fall faster and his heart break harder. She ceased her packing to spin around to face Luke and his blue eyes that were lined with tears and his face that resembled sorrow.
“Lu, please stop crying,” she whispered while she used her thumb to lightly wipe away the water dripping down his face. “You have to understand that this is what is best for me and what is best for Charlotte. She deserves a mom who’s gonna be there for her, a mom that actually wants her.”
She was talking, but all he could hear was noise. She was going to leave and he was going to be a broken, single dad who doesn’t know what to do when his daughter grows up and asks where her mom went.
“What do you mean you don’t want her?”
“This is not the life I want, Luke. Please understand. All I want is for you to understand.”
Luke watched as she packed some of her stuff and promise him that she’d get the rest of it later on in the week when he isn’t home. But as she opened the door to leave for good, Luke’s doubts dominated his confidence again and he grabbed her hand to stop her.
“What if I can’t find someone else to love me like you did?” Luke asked.
A small, forced smile turned her lips up. His palms felt the claminess of her hands. She was slipping away like sand would in a person’s hand. How was he going to convince her to stay when she truly did not want to?
“I never loved you.”
He could feel his heart being ripped out of his chest and crushed into ash as she spoke. His words got caught in his throat but forced himself to ask, “Okay, what if I never find someone who will be Charlotte’s mom?”
She shrugged. “Then you’re on your own.”
And then, the door closes behind the only girl Luke has ever loved, along with all the gateways that led to his happiness. As he stalked to the couch to sit down and cry, he saw his beautiful, baby girl staring at him with the biggest, blue eyes he has ever seen.
Walking over to pick her up in his arms, he stepped on a couple dolls and other miscellaneous items on the carpet. Luke gripped Charlotte's squishy side before carrying her over to the couch so she could fall asleep in his arms.
As her tufts of blonde hair tickled at his chin while he cradled her to his chest, the gears in his head started to churn. Luke realized as his daughter fell asleep to the steady sounds of his heartbeat that maybe Baby Charlotte was all he needed.
daddy luke taking care of baby boy hemmings for the day while he insisted that you take a day off from being a mommy but is having troubles calming baby boy down when he gives baby boy the wrong cereal so now he’s stuck with a bowl of cereal he doesn’t like but baby boy has finally calmed down and is eating his cereals and just when he thinks the hard part is over he remembers that he needs to shower baby boy and gets a mini heart attack every time he jumps in the shower then luke gets an idea and tires out baby boy hemmings as much as possible so they go to the park and play in the playground then they have a mini wrestling match at home and allows him to help him for dinner then just before they shower for the last time that day they swim in the backyard and by the time baby boy gets in the shower he is tired and panting but still with a smile on his face and when the day is finally over baby boy hemmings is sleeping on the couch peacefully with his head on daddy’s lap and once you walk in through the front door luke’s eyes glisten and he pulls you in for a long hug and is whispering in your ear how he’s lucky to still have you around without forgetting to mention how he respects your job as a mother because babies are definitely a handful but he really wouldn’t have it any other way
another weird take on @5sos-games‘s 5sos Fic Week theme… which is “Language” for today
You were a school teacher. To be more specific, you taught preschoolers. And even though the school year had just started a few weeks ago, little four year old Riley Hemmings was already your absolute favorite student. It wasn’t just her angelic shoulder length blonde ringlets or her huge yet solemn eyes either. It was the fact that she took no shit. Not from anyone.
The day you realized this was also the day you were first introduced to her gorgeous father, but more about him later. Your class of preschoolers consisted of children of various sizes and shapes. Riley, at age four was at your median age. Some parents finagled their kids in at three, while other kids missed the September birthday cutoff and ended up stuck in preschool at five years old.
From what you’d witnessed of her, -before the Incident, anyway- Riley was a pretty calm kid. It was almost scary sometimes how somber her big, ice blue eyes could get. She was super quiet and crazy helpful and obedient; she acted even older than you sometimes, it was ridiculous. So it really shouldn’t have come to such a surprize to you that, even when in a fight, Riley Hemmings never lost her cool.
On the day of the Incident, you were one of the teachers on recess duty. Riley had been playing with little redheaded Becca Hastings as per usual and you were several yards away keeping your eyes on as many of the children as you could. So, you saw when one the boys from another class began barreling towards Becca and Riley, his eyes zeroed in on the bright red ball they’d been playing with.
Sensing an altercation, you began slowly walking towards the children. The kid was fast though, and significantly bigger than the girls so you were still too far away to stop him from ripping the ball away from Becca. Your walk turned into a brisk jog as Becca’s lower lip started to wobble and Riley calmly asked for the ball back. The boy refused and you saw Riley sigh. It wasn’t until Becca started to cry and the boy, in response kicked playground sand at her that you began sprinting towards the children.
Little Becca’s wails was what finally drew the attention of some of the other teachers on duty. But before anyone could react and the boy even had a chance to blink, Riley clocked him right in the jaw, knocking him straight to the ground. And even though you were the farthest away you were still the first one to reach the kids after seeing that. As you approached them you noticed Riley shaking out her now reddened hand, an annoyed expression crossing her features.
Your first instinct was to check on the little instigator, and make sure he hadn’t actually been knocked out. He hadn’t been, thank God, so that ruled out a concussion. It was only once the other teachers caught up that you were able to focus on Riley.
“Come on, slugger,” you said to her once the situation was pretty much under control. “Let’s get you some ice for that hand.”
~
Because you were apparently the only teacher who caught the whole fight on the playground, it fell to you to call all the children’s parents and fill them in. It turned out that the little instigator’s real name was Kenny Duvall, and he had a bit of a reputation as a problem child among some of the other teachers.
It would help your case with the school’s principal when the time for that conversation came around. But as for that particular moment in time? When you were holding a cold compress to the struggling Duvall kid’s face while you waited for his mom and Riley’s dad to show up? Yeah, not so much.
Kenny’s mom was the first to show up. Barreling into the classroom like a roided up gorilla-lady, she grabbed Kenny and whisked him away to the nurse’s office without much more than a “We will have words,” screeched over her shoulder as she walk-ran away.
“Riley honey, just a heads up?” With the two of you finally alone for the first time since the fight, you took the time to deliver some not so appropriate advice. “When you’re going to punch someone or-rather something,” you hastened to correct. “Keep your thumb outside of your fist. You’ll break your thumb going around the way you did earlier.”
“Like this?” She showed you her hand, a correctly formed fist held out.
“Just like that,” you reached over to ruffle her blonde curls. “And aim for the nose if you’ve gotta hit the face. It’ll be easier overall that way.” You added with a wink. It was right after your delivery of this little fight club spiel that Riley’s father chose to rush into the classroom.
Shit, you bit your lip as Riley scurried away from you to welcome her dad. Had he heard that? Fuck, you were so getting fired! Riley snapped you out of your mental panic by grabbing your hand and trying to pull you where she wanted you.
Which was towards her dad. Her very tall, broad, attractive dad. You could see that he was where Riley got her beautiful blond hair and almost unsettling deep blue eyes from.
“Mr. Hemmings,” you said, trying not to swoon. “Great to finally meet you I mean,” you winced. “It’s not under the best circumstances but what can you do y’know?” You held your hand.
“Yeah um,” taking your hand, he looked like he didn’t know whether to be confused or amused by you casualness. “Please, call me Luke.” Guess he was going with amused.
“So, I ran the whole situation by you over the phone earlier but I was pretty brief.” You said. “I just wanted to reassure you that all the kids are fine,” Luke looked relieved by that, his broad shoulders relaxing a bit from their previous tenseness. “Riley’s friend was even kind of excused from the whole incident and Kenny Duvall, the other child had already established a reputation as an uh, aggressive kid throughout the school.” You continued. “So the meeting with the principle should be pretty straight forward.”
“Right,” Luke nodded. “Okay, great.” He then turned to face his daughter. “Baby girl,” he sighed after placing his hands on her shoulders and crouching down so they were meeting eye to eye. “You know we don’t hit. That’s not how we solve our problems.”
Riley nodded, her baby blues dead serious. “I know daddy, but Uncle Mike said if someone’s being a dick-”
“Oh my God,” Luke’s hand flew from his daughter’s shoulder to cover her mouth. You coughed to hide your laugh. “Language Riley, Jesus-” he met your eyes then quickly looked away. “Shit, sorry,” he shook his head. “I mean, crap. No wait-”
“It’s okay!” You held your hands up to stop him, only to have to force yourself to turn away to keep from snorting out loud. “Just,” you sighed and turned back to face the blonde duo. “Please stop talking.” Then, after smoothing out your pencil skirt you kneeled on the floor in front of your favorite young pupil. “So Riley, your Uncle Mike taught you how to punch like that?”
She shook her head before slowly removing her father’s hand from her face. And after sending a him a reproachful look way too mature for a four year old, she looked to you and replied. “No, I learned from watching my Uncle Ash and Uncle Cal, only,” she frowned. “They don’t do it like I did it and usually they both stay up after.“
"Oh man,” you shook your head and couldn’t fight back the laugh that came out. “Your brothers, I assume?” You asked Luke between giggles.
“Pretty much,” he said while running a hand through his hair. He sighed and then your eyes met, and his gorgeous blue gaze softened as he smiled at you. Your heart stuttered in your chest and after a sharp inhale, you looked away to smile at his little angel.
Mrs. Duvall chose that moment to reappear and then descend on you -and by default Luke and Riley- like a bat from hell with the world’s most ridiculous tongue-lashing. She went on and on about her “angelic” son and how “he would never” act in such a way. When you tried to interrupt to inform her of her of her “perfect” son’s multiple infractions, the lady practically started breathing fire. You and Luke managed to share various half disbelieving half entertained looks throughout her tirade and when she finally paused to take a breath, you quickly stepped forward.
“Look Mrs. Duvall, I can see that you’re um, upset so why don’t you and your son just head home for now and we can pick up where you left off next week? With Principle Matthews present? At the group meeting we all have scheduled with him?” Nodding suggestively at her, you looked to Luke for some support and like champ he came through, with a too wide grin and nodding along with you.
“Right,” Mrs. Duvall cleared her throat. “Fine. Goodbye.” And after straightening her cardigan she grabbed her son left.
“Oh my God,” you managed to gasp before you met Luke’s wide eyes and the both of you burst into laughter.
When you and him managed to settle down after Mrs. Duvall’s chewing out, you spoke up. “Look, Mr. Hemmings-” at his pointed look you winced and corrected yourself. “Luke,” you were whispering even though the devil woman was gone. “I know this is totally inappropriate but, "you bit your lip to hold back your grin then, at his raised eyebrow continued. "Your daughter is my new hero.”
“Oh,” he laughed breathlessly. “I thought, that is- uh yeah.” He shook his head before shooting you a smirk. “She’s mine too.”
It was your turn to raise a questioning brow. “What did you think it was going to say?”
“Oh, nothing.” He shook his head in denial then laughed at your expression. “Seriously,” he ran a sheepish hand over his neck. “Don’t worry about it.”
Summary; Luke is a struggling single parent and you’re his son’s teacher.
(chapter 1 - 16)
_________________________
Luke watched in amusement as her tiny fingers danced along the heavy keys of the grand piano, struggling to keep up with the moderate tempo.
“Look look daddy! I’m doing it!” Determined to dazzle her father, 4-year-old Mya giggled without breaking concentration.
The grown man sat on her ladybug stool, grinning from ear to ear with his arms propped on his knees, his chin resting on his palms.
It was if they took your baby picture and made an exact replica and to Luke it was the cutest thing ever. When your baby was first born she only had a few fair hairs and Luke bet you that Mya was going to look more like him. Of course he ended up losing, after the first 2 years her eyes grew darker along with her hair, your genes clearly dominated his.
However, baby Mya shared Luke’s interests and personality traits. She was also super attached to her dad, which worked out because Luke started to feel left out since Toby had become so attached to you.
“Luke!”
“Moooom!”
"Mya?"
Oh shit. Luke felt his heart drop as the sound of the door slamming shut echoed throughout the semi empty house.
Luke slowly turned to see you standing there with Toby in his soccer uniform, blonde waves sticking out from every direction, his round face flushed and knees smothered with grass and dirt.
Toby copied you, furrowing his eyebrows and folding his arms across his chest, shaking his head in disapproval at his dad's carelessness. Luke smirked turning his gaze towards the glint of the only piece of jewelry on your hand.
He remembered that day perfectly, a year after having Mya you both officially got married. Luke was so excited he remembers almost getting sick that day. He also remembered the feeling of his eyeballs stinging as he watched you walk down the aisle, he couldn’t tear his eyes away from you he didn’t want to. He was so afraid of missing a moment, he wanted to remember everything. He did, from the way the white lace hugged your form to the way you spoke so delicately as if it was your first time meeting...
“What is Mya doing here? She’s suppose to be with Jen. Why is she still in her pajamas? It’s 3 in the afternoon! And what about all these boxes Luke I’ve told you a thousand times all these things need to be unpacked oh my god did you even remember to go to the post office to ch-”
You were cut off by Luke, you lost your balance as your husband wrapped his arm around your wrist tugging you onto his lap. "Luke!"
He giggled as he crashed his lips against yours, shutting you up once more. His lips molded against yours and you hesitated to move, keeping in mind that your kids were in the room.
"Dad! Why are you eating mommy!" Mya screeched and Luke pulled away, cackling as he threw his head back.
You couldn't hide the blush that covered your cheeks, it was an innocent innuendo for crying out loud. "That's gross, please stop." Toby scrunched his nose as he began to take off his socks.
"Go take a shower Tobes you're starting to stink up the place." Luke teased his son and he rolled his eyes, too tired to come up with a witty comment.
"You need to calm down and don't forget you're in trouble." You poked at his broad chest.
Today marked the 5th day of being in your first and new home. It was a simple suburban house not too far away from Luke's old apartment so everything was relatively close.
Luke wasn't sold on the idea of moving into a suburban area thinking it was too conservative and "lame". But as soon as he saw how much Toby and Mya loved the place he was quick to change his mind.
"I'll get to them," Luke groaned while burying his head at the crook of your neck, "but there's so many!" Mya snickered at her childish father.
"Look what kind of example your setting for our kids Luke Hemmings." Little butterflies in your tummy at the sound of 'our kids' and Luke peered up at you with a lopsided smile.
"Our kids." He mumbled sending vibrations through your chest. "I'm a prefect example I don't know what you're talking about Mrs. Hemmings."
"Mama look what dad showed me!" Mya waved her hands in the air excitedly, catching your attention.
"Show me baby." You encouraged as Luke brought you closer to him, one arm wrapped around your waist and the other around your thigh.
You laced your fingers through Luke’s hair as you watched your daughter play ‘Twinkle Twinkle Little Star’ and your heart filled with pride.
Life was funny that way, you would have never guessed in a million years that you find the love of your life through one of your students. Looking back you would have completely shut the idea down but you were glad you didn’t. You heart felt so full it felt as if it was going to burst and if that was a way to go, you’d go that way.
“Woah!” You clapped, wiggling your way out of Luke’s grip, “Mya that was beautiful! You should teach me!” She smiled, jumping into your arms as you sat down next to her.
“Yeah Mya you should be teaching me.” Luke pouted.
“Mom! Dad! I’m hungry!” Toby sung as he came into the room, towel wrapped around his head.
“Poor baby come here baby.” Luke snatched him off his feet before he could say anything, cradling him like a newborn. “Shall I breastfeed him (Y/N)?”
You were about to snap at him but the toddler in your arms erupted with laughter, “Haha! Toby is a baby! He’s a big baby!”
“Dad stop!” Toby yelled, “Mom make him stop!”
“Okay that’s enough you guys let’s go get something to eat because someone still hasn't unpacked the things in the kitchen.” You glared at Luke and he simply shrugged.
“I wonder who,” He put Toby down and slapped his bum, “go get ready son.”
Toby mumbled angrily as he left the room, “Okay let’s go get you ready.” You rushed Mya to her room. You began to walk after her when you were spun around.
“Someone’s feeling a little grabby today what’s up with that.” Your voice was low and almost slurty it sent a shiver of pleasure down Luke’s spine. The two of you knew exactly why he was being so touchy.
“I want you all to myself is that so bad?” He huffed as you threw your arms around his waist, pressing him against your body.
“You’re so needy Hemmings it feels like I’m looking after 3 not 2.” You let out a sharp gasp as he took you by surprise, his lips hungrily attacking your neck.
“Mom!”
“Luke stop.” You hissed and he whined, pulling away. “If we make it back in time we could ask Ashton to look after the kids for a little bit.” You smirked and Luke’s eyes widen.
“Your mom’s coming Mya!” He yelled while pushing you. “You got to hurry babe so we have more time.”
“You’re ridiculous.” A breathy laugh left your lips.
“But you love me.” Luke hummed happily.
“You’re not wrong.” You bit your lip and Luke stopped in his tracks giving you a side glance. “I love you very much.”
You smiled as Mya ran up to you with the completely random outfit she wanted to wear. Toby came out of his room, running his hand through his wavy mess. “And our babies very much.”

(chapter 1 - 15)
_________________________
He didn’t pick up the next day, or the next. Luke refused to talk to you, making small talk through text only, making you feel cold and empty. At least you knew he was alive but then why in world would he not pick up? It was all too clear, he didn’t want you to find out about his secret affair.
What was even more unsettling was that Toby seemed so unfazed about not having his dad by his side or questioning his whereabouts it was like Luke didn’t even exist. It was becoming to much and you didn't know what to do at this point. When did everything start falling apart so suddenly?
Liz started to noticed that you were on a different planet, dazing off at most times. How were you suppose to bring up accusations such as that there was a high chance her son was cheating on you?
“Luke’s going to make it, stop worrying so much (Y/N),” Celeste stopped in the middle of “it isn't good for the baby you know.”
“It’s Christmas Eve, it’s already 7 and he’s not here Celeste.” You shivered from the cold. “Plus you dragged me to come shopping and just about every store is already closed so your point?”
You were surprised when Celeste (the most reliable of the bunch) approached you asking if you could accompany her to the plaza to buy Luke’s last minute gift. Instead of finding his gift, like she promised, she ended up with armful of bags of gifts for herself.
“Someone’s not in the Christmas spirit.” You snapped in her direction and glared at her. Pushing your buttons had become one of Celeste’s hobbies lately, quite frankly you were getting sick of it. A second later you felt your eyes sting with tears of frustration. “Oh my god no (Y/N) don’t cry, I’m sorry you know I was just messing around.”
Celeste pulled you into a giant hug, muffling your wails. God you were such a mess, everything was all wrong. “I want go home.” You mumbled as she backed away from you to wipe the tears that stained your reddened cheeks.
Before answering she checked the time on her phone and gave you a soft smile, “Okay lets go.”
The drive home was quiet but Celeste kept glancing at you as if you were combustible, ready to burst once more. Her stares were only making you even more anxious.
How were you going to confront Luke about this? The man you thought you loved and you were so sure he felt the same way, for gods sake you were having a child together. And your baby? Growing up without a father...you couldn’t imagine. Toby? How was he going to make about all this? He’s just a baby.
You didn’t even realize you were crying once more until Celeste spoke up, “We’re here.” Immediately you brushed away your tears. “Hey we’re going to get through this alright? You’re family, we’re family.” The way she spoke you irritated you even more like this was such an easy thing to overcome. Yet the firm touch of her hand onto of yours felt warm with certainty.
“Thanks I sure hope so...” You gave her a faint smile and struggled to get out of the car.
For some strange reason all the lights were out in the house. You reached the house first and knocked, expecting for someone to open up. After waiting a while you rested your hand on your bump, a natural instinct, and turned back to call for Celeste but she was gone.
You shrugged it off, no thinking about it too much and simply turned the knob to find the door unlocked. All you could make out was the bright christmas tree at the corner to he room and the table in the middle with a lump in front of it.
It was all too surreal, it had to be a dream. Your breathe hitched, you couldn't breathe or even hear the sound of your own heartbeat. When you flicked the lights on there he was on bended knee with a velvet box in his hands open, displaying the glittering ring he had spent months saving up for.
But you couldn't careless what was in the box, your eyes were locked on Luke. He had a sheepish smile, his scruff had grown into a nice small beard, his hair was flat, short bangs resting against his forehead just the way he knew you liked it and his eyes were shining with anticipation. He was wearing a knitted jumper and dark jeans, Luke looked like home. He is home.
It felt like forever until you heard a cough at the other side of the room and you realized you weren't alone. You completely missed the group of people huddled in the corner of the room all with their phones out recording the scene that was unfolding. The cough was from no other than Toby, “Go dad go.”
You spotted Michael and he clasped his hand over the boy’s mouth and you laughed. Turning back to Luke, he was a nervous wreck. He had rehearsed this a million times yet now he didn't know where to begin, all of it was thrown out the window. He didn’t want to screw this up, he didn’t want to say the wrong thing, he was terrified that you would say ‘no’ even though you were pregnant with his child, maybe you didn’t want marriage, you didn’t want to be tied down.
“Luke...” Your voice was soft and sweet it had been only a few days since he’s heard it but it felt like an eternity. He didn’t miss these last couple days to get cold feet now, he had worked his ass off to make this possible. Then something inside him clicked. It was now or never.
“Ms. (Y/L/N),” this wasn’t even on that stupid index card he’d spent days writing on, trying to find the perfect words, “I was a lost man really before I met you and I didn’t even know it. I had been stuck for so long, I thought I knew what I was doing, that I could do it alone. But I hadn’t been the best father, not picking up Toby on time, not being able to spend the most time with my son. Then I met you and everything seemed to fall into place. You were the seams that kept me from falling apart, life was so much brighter with you by my side. I was, and to this day, happy with life. For a while I regretted not showing up to parent conference meetings, I would have met you sooner. But I don’t care so much anymore because I know I’ll be able to spend a lifetime with you. A lifetime to love you, (Y/N) (Y/L/N) will you marry me?”
You were gnawing on your bottom lip, you thought you had run dry of tears and here you were like a leaky faucet. “Yes Luke oh my god yes.”
The room erupted with laughter and cheers as Luke slowly slipped the cool ring on your finger, wanting to savor the moment. You were his fiancé, soon to be Mrs. Hemmings. That sounded amazing, “Mrs. Hemmings.” He stood up and placed his hands on your bump and leaned down to kiss your trembling lips.
His lips molded over yours perfectly and you threw your arm around his neck, pulling him closer to you, deepening the kiss. You had gone too long without him, “Alright kids calm down.” You heard Jack clapping and Luke pulled away to scowl at his older brother.
"Mum!” Toby came rushing at, hugging your legs as everyone began to surround you, congratulating the both of you on your engagement. Luke was besides you the entire time.
As time ticked by, people began to make themselves comfortable around the fireplace and on the floor, getting ready to open up presents. You barley walked out of the kitchen, cup of punch in your hand when Luke pulled you aside, “(Y/N) I want you to meet someone.”
“Okay?” You laughed. You stopped when you saw a familiar figure.
“This is Raya,” He motioned to the woman you saw him hugging in the parking lot the other day, “Raya, my fiancé (Y/N).”
“Nice to finally meet you (Y/N)!” She was super cheery and you didn’t know how to react, you forgot about the whole incident about a few hours ago.
“Nice to meet you Raya.” You forced a smile but it went unnoticed.
“She’s new at the studio, she helped me finish the project faster so I can make it back here in time and helped with- well setting thing whole thing up.” He chuckled nervously. “Thank you so much Raya.”
“It was nothing. I’m excited for you guys-” She was cut off by her phone and she quickly excused herself.
“Okay so what you mean by setting this whole thing up?” You raised an eyebrow, not fully believing him. Your suspicions of him cheating on you were gone, if anything you felt foolish for thinking Luke would do that to you. But you saw right through him, he was hiding something from you.
“Baby...”
“Don’t ‘baby’ me Luke give me the truth because either way you’re going to have to tell me.” You placed your hands on your hips and he looked away.
“Please don’t be ashamed of me. It’s embarrassing enough as it.” Luke groaned, running his hand through his neat hair.
“I’m never ashamed of you Luke, you know that.” You cooed, placing your hands on the side of his face, making him face you. You were shocked to see his eyes shining with unshed tears.
“I-I didn’t have enough so she offered to pay the rest of the ring god (Y/N) I’m such a failure I can’t even do this whole marriage thing right.” He slumped over to a nearby chair. His earnings hadn’t been enough for the ring so he had to rely on someone else, he wanted to make you happy he wanted to give you the world and he couldn't do it without getting some sort of help.
“Luke Hemmings you are not a failure.” He pulled you into his lap and nuzzled his head into the crook of your neck. You ran your fingers through his soft hair and his grip on you tightened. “You do so much for this family, Toby and I are so proud of you. It’s okay to get help from people, you could have gotten me a ring pop and I still would have been the happiest girl in the world.”
“We’re still starting out, don’t be so hard on yourself baby. Don’t bite off more than you can chew either, I don’t want to see you stress out like this.” You grabbed his cheeks and forced him to look at you. “I love you so- so- so- so- so- so much Luke.” You peppered kissed all over his face in between and he let out your favorite sound, his pretty giggles.
“I love you so much too.” Luke smiled, letting your words sink in.
“Mum! Dad! We’re waiting!!!” Toby ran up to the both of you with two candy canes in his small hands. “Here.” He handed you each one and took your hand, trying to get you to get up.
“Let’s go they’re waiting for us.” You smiled pressing one last kiss on his nose before yanking Luke along as Toby led the way.
Luke settled on the floor, legs open with you settles in between. You back was against his chest and your fingers were tangled together. You watched as people began to unwrap the presents sitting underneath the tree and then all of a sudden Toby sprung up from the sofa to retrieve a slim box.
“This one’s for you mum!” He grinned excitedly, jumping in place after he gave you the poorly wrapped flat box. You couldn’t tell if Luke helped him wrap it up or if Toby did it himself.
“What? For me?” You smiled, ripping the paper off. You then opened the box to pull out what seemed to be a frame. Luke chuckled behind you as you stared in awe at the picture before you. It was a hand drawn picture of Luke, you, Toby and a bundle (which you assumed was the baby). They were all really close and sitting on the couch and on the bottom in scrawly letters were ‘i love my family’. The picture was perfectly framed in popsicle sticks with macaroni pieces glued on top.
“I love this Toby! Thank you so much baby it’s beautiful!” You said in awe.
Toby blushed at your praise and curled up on your lap as the other names were called out. You gently petted his blonde hair, similar to his father’s. Luke placed his head on your shoulder and stared down him.
“I love my family too.”

(pt. 1-14)

It was hopeless, he was either too thick headed or one step ahead of you because every single time you tried to bring the subject up he’d be quick to steer your attention away and when it was too late you realized he played you.
Your nerves were getting worse and worse with each passing day, being pregnant didn’t help at all. To make matters worse, this week was going to be even more torturous, you were sitting on the edge of your seat.
Toby had the next two weeks off for the holidays and you were all planning to head to Luke’s parents’ house to spend Christmas and New Years over there. But you weren't feeling the “Christmas spirit”, instead of tagging along with his girlfriend and son, Luke was going to stay a few days to work on a big project for work (given the opportunity to prove himself and possibly be promoted, he couldn't pass up the chance). At least he was going to make it for Christmas...right?
“Babe you got everything?” Those familiar gentle hands kneaded your tense shoulder blades and you sighed in relief, nodding. “You feeling okay?”
“I feel great.” You smiled weakly knowing he wouldn't be able to see your face. It was a big fat lie, if wrong was an emotion then that would perfectly describe how you were feeling at the moment, you felt wrong.
“Good,” Luke wrapped his arms around your neck and just as you were about to melt into his touch he leaned into your ear, “Jack and Celeste will be here any moment to pick you and Toby up and did I forget to mention Sierra’s coming too?”
“Wow you really want us gone don't you?” You laughed humorlessly. You didn’t mean it, it sort of slipped out, you couldn't help but let the bitterness that has been building up seep out of. He was being annoying and he didn't have a clue.
“What? (Y/N) where is this coming from?” And his hands fell limp off your shoulders, you were an idiot. You shouldn't have said that, of course you were happy to see them again and to meet their precious little 4 month year old. All you wanted was Luke to go so you can all be together.
“Nowhere.”
“Mum mum mum mum!” Toby comes rushing into the kitchen, saving you from the tension between you and Luke that was growing. “I lost my legos!”
“Why do you want to take your legos?” You smiled as he ran up to you, burying his head in your lap.
“I wanna play with grandpa.” He stared up at you, eyebrows knitted in frustration. It kind of reminded of you when you’d walk in on Luke sitting at kitchen table late at night with papers scattered all over the place, with one hand tangled in his hair and he’s be completely oblivious to to how adorable he looked, so fiercely adorable.
“But Toby don’t you remember you left your toys in your dad’s old room for next time.” Your reminded him.
“Oh yeah!” Then he ran back to his room and you wish he would've stayed a little longer.
“(Y/N)...” Then there was a knock at the door. You mentally thanked Jack and you quickly stood, a little too quick you hobbled as you walked to the door. Luke tried to reach out for you but you shrug him off. “ ‘m fine.”
Right when you opened the door you were engulfed in a hug by Celeste, “Nice to see you too.” It felt nice having someone throw themselves at you, literally.
“Sorry (Y/N) she’s a little excited about Christmas and babies... and you.” Jack pried Celeste off from you and gave you a huge grin.
“Oh my god look Jack she’s pregnant and she’s even got that glow.” Celeste giggled, laying her head on his shoulder.
You felt the blush on your face darken when Luke appeared, wrapping his arm around your waist, “Where’s baby Sierra?”
“She’s in the van, knocked out cold.” Jack chuckled.
“Oh then let me hurry up and get our things!” Before they could say anything, you walked out of Luke’s grip and headed to your shared bedroom to collect your bags. “Toby! Uncle Jack and Cel are here! Get your things!”
“Okay what’s going on.”
“Sorry Luke don’t know what you’re talking about.” You grabbed your duffled bag and started to wheel your luggage out of the room when Luke stopped you.
“What the hell (Y/N) you’re not suppose to be carrying shit.” Luke grumbled, taking your bag and luggage. Without another word he walked out of the room...he didn’t even try to find out what was wrong.
You followed after him in silence and out to their car. “Where’s the baby?” You asked while Luke loaded the bags into the trunk and went to retrieve Toby’s care seat.
“Right here.” Celeste quietly opened the door to reveal a sleeping bundle sleeping away soundly and you broke out into a smile.
“She’s precious oh my god,” You cooed, “Good job guys.” Jack was standing next to you looking all smug and you rolled your eyes.
“Wait until you see ours though. Then there’s going to be some real competition.” Luke sent you a wink before laying his eyes on baby Sierra.
“Let me see let me see!”
“Shhh bud you have to be quiet she’s sleeping.” You watched at the baby stirred in her sleep, scrunching her nose, wiggling around and throwing her tiny arms. It was hushed and she relaxed back into a sleepy state.
“Shut up Luke,” Jack hissed silently, clearly taking Luke’s words as a threat. “Clearly I am the looks of the family.” You heard Celeste cough but the brothers were already in too deep into argument.
“Got everything Toby?” You sighed.
“Mhmmm dad put it in the car.”
“I think we should get going?” You turned to Celeste who was rubbing her temples.
“Yes, yes let’s get going now dear.” She took Toby’s car seat that Luke brought but the boys kept blabbing on.
“We’re leaving Luke.” You waved at him, attempting to get his attention.
“We’ll wait and see then.” Luke sneered, turning to you. You felt scared because he just stared at you for the longest time before pulling you into the tighter embrace. Normally he’d be to scared to even touch you, afraid that he’d hurt the baby in any way. “I love you (Y/N).”
“I love you too?” You laughed, a genuine laugh. The noise sounding so sweet to Luke’s ear, it’d been a while since he’s heard it.
“See you in a few days baby.” He pecked your lips and hugged you one last time. “See you later Tobes, you be good over there. Be extra good to mum and Baby. Aunt Cel and yes even Uncle Jack.”
“You got it dad.” Toby ran into his father’s arms, smiling, the cutest little creases appearing on his round cheeks.
“Let’s go already!” Jack sang, climbing into the drivers seat. You heard a loud smack, you grabbed Luke’s face, peppering his face with kisses and swiftly made your way into the car so Jack wouldn't earn another blow.
You sat on the other side of sleeping Sierra while Toby situated himself on the opposite side. Once everyone was good to go, you guys were gone, leaving Luke to watch as he was left alone.
The trip began and conversations, laughs were shared, (Jack’s shoulder was going to be sore from all the smacks he gained, there were even some intimate moments where you shared a few things you'd only feel comfortable sharing with Luke. You were surprised to hear some intimated things about each one of them as well.
Soon enough, as time went on a comfortable silence fell over you and you were left with your thoughts. You were so lost as to what Luke was trying to do, one minute he’s being sweet and then he says something...not. He can be so reassuring and then make you feel like you’re loosing him to someone else. You hated that feeling.
And that girl, she was so pretty she probably had a personality to fit too. She appeared to be nice? Why in the world were you reading into this so much?!
The baby began to wiggled around, looked uncomfortable and without opening her eyes, she started to cry. Toby jolted, caught off guard from the baby’s piercing cry and looked at you with panic in his eyes.
“(Y/N) can you please reach for her bottle in the diaper bag?”
“It’s not on my side. Toby can you get the bottle for me?”
Frantically, he grabbed the bag and dug for the bottle to quiet the baby. He then found it and thrusted it towards you, being the helper he is. “Thank you.”
You shook the bottle a little bit, swishing the formula inside. You slipped the nipple of the bottle into Sierra’s mouth and she slowly began to suck, calming down, leaving her faced flushed.
Toby looked at you as if you were some god who had the power to do anything, but he was even more fascinated at how the baby reacted. He gave you a look and shifted his eyes back and forth from the bottle and then back to you as if you’d get the hint.
“Is it okay if Toby fed Sierra?” You smirked at the little boy who was shaking his head frantically, embarrassed that you’d sell him out like that.
“Of course be my guest little man.” Celeste beamed.
“Here,” You instructed and Toby watched your movements carefully, “be very careful, don’t push. Just hold it upwards like this so the baby can eat but not too high.”
“Got it.” He reassured you, cautiously taking the bottle from your hands without taking it out the baby’s mouth. You watched as he interacted with the baby, his face filled with amazement, “Look it mum I’m feeding Sierra. I’m helping!”
“You’re doing a good job baby.” You feel your chin wobble and tears well up in your eyes. Never in your life have you ever needed someone this bad and you didn’t know what to do...
“Thank you Jack.”
“You owe me a tip ma’am.” He huffed as he took your bags and headed into the house.
You rolled your eyes for what seemed like the 100th time today and waited until everyone got into the house. You took out your phone to find no text messages or a phone call. The weight in your heart got even heavier and you decided to call him, to make sure everything was okay or if he was with a certain someone.
He didn't pick up the first call. One more time. Straight to voicemail once again. Maybe he’s doing something and he didn’t hear. Not wanting to bother him anymore, you decided to simply leave him a text.
‘Hey baby we just here, everything good?’
‘Don’t say up too late with work ❤️”
You were right. He was seeing someone and right now he was with her, you wholesomely believed it. It was right there under your nose all along. There was no way you would be able to reach out for him. How were you going to make it until Christmas?
