Health protip brought to you by “I found out today my dad didn’t know this and thought it was something they made up on House MD so now I will be having nightmares about amoebas for the next few days”:
Always use distilled water for sinus irrigation, and make sure to clean whatever you’re using (I think netti pot is most popular?) after each use. Infections from using tap water are rare, but can be quite serious so it’s best to use water that you know for sure doesn’t have pathogens in it.
OK, I tried Sinus Irrigation with Peroxide & Baking Soda
I've just tried sinus irrigation using peroxide and baking soda.Yes, it stings a bit, but compared to the sinus infection its minor. And if it sorts it, well it will be so worth it. Here are the measurements for your neti pot.
100 ml filtered water, luke warm
5ml 3% food grade peroxide
2 pinches organic sea salt
2 pinches baking soda
See my previous post for instructions
I'll let you know how it goes!
