Not your average 50 yard dash of funk! #Repost @hnrcrew ・・・ Overton Loyd is an artist and illustrator widely known for designing a variety of caricatures and album covers, most notably for George Clinton & the Parliament-Funkadelic collective. "Rhythm of Vision: The Artistry of Overton Loyd" is the first exhibition to reveal the full trajectory of Loyd’s complex and varied practice in painting, drawing, illustration & album cover design. This legendary exhibition at the California African American Museum (600 State Dr, Exposition Park, LA 90037) opens tomorrow Thursday, March 17th, featuring more than fifty works and celebrates a career that now spans four decades. Opening weekend festivities include a special interview with Overton on Saturday as he shares his creative journey from drawing caricatures at the Michigan State Fair to becoming a visual and multimedia artist, designer and creative director for George Clinton & Parliament-Funkadelic.  Plus on Sunday Loyd will walk visitors through the exhibition and share insight of the history behind several of his artworks.  Also scheduled next Saturday is an interactive drawing workshop with Overton's live art "band" Unification Theory (Loyd, Man One & Gustavo Garcia Vaca) for ages 10 & up.
