When you had decided to become a trainee under the Starship label you had hardly expected that it would have been as difficult as it was. Sure, you had heard stories from other people, but you only began to understand the immense difficulty when you lived it out yourself. You knew there would be many sleepless nights, but what past trainees didn’t include was that when those sleepless nights happened it also included aching muscles remained sore days after. You knew that money would be tight, but no one mentioned that some days you would have to go without eating when everything in your body pleaded with you to. Being a trainee was the hardest thing you had ever done, and now it was finally coming to an end. Every minute of intense practice, every day spent practicing vocals, every second away from your family and friends had all been to help you reach this moment. You were finally debuting.
It was only natural to think back to when you first became a trainee. Despite all the times that were not so fun there were also times that you were glad you experienced. And for some reason many of those memories included a certain senior that had always found time to practice with you. Soyou had claimed she was this supportive with all the trainees, but you still liked to think you were special, because every happy memory you had she was almost always in the picture. You thought back to the many times Soyou had helped you with your vocals, the times she had stayed late in practice rooms with you, the night completely dark and silent except for the sound of each of your voices booming off the walls. You remember her always buying you lunches or sometimes packing you little bento boxes and even though she persistently told you it was no big deal you could tell that she had spent a lot of time making the food. She would make you laugh so hard water came out of your nose, help you so often that you dance coach became convinced you knew the choreography in advance, and make you smile just when you thought about her. And now she was going to be there to watch you debut, and you were absolutely fucking nervous.
This moment had been the moment your entire existence had been leading up to, maybe that wasn’t fully true, but you felt content with over exaggerating in the moment. You had practiced so hard over the past months, trying your best to nail every ounce of your performance, and that’s why it was so scary. So many people were relying on you, whether it be your company, your parents, your friends, Soyou. You didn’t want to let any of them down. You twirled your water bottle around in your hand, doing your best, but failing not to fidget backstage. In T minus 30 minutes you were going to debut, and it all felt so foreign.
That was when you felt a delicate hand on your shoulder. It caused you to jump slightly due to the immense focus you had put into your thoughts. At first, you thought it would be a manager or one of the stage crew members, but it was a sweet and blissful surprise when you turned and saw Soyou. She looked amazing, which made your heart beat a little faster, but you didn’t dwell too much on that. “How are you doing?” She asked, one eyebrow raised, she could read you like a book.
You didn’t know what to say, so you didn’t say anything at all. How could you possibly explain how you were feeling? You felt as if you were feeling every emotion all at once, but that couldn’t be possible, could it? She sat down next to you and slung her arm around you, pulling you onto her shoulder. “I don’t even know why I asked? It’s okay, I’m going to say all the things I wish someone had said to me when I debuted.”
Now you turned to her and raised your eyebrow. “I honestly don’t think anything can calm me down right now Soyou.”
“I will take that challenge.” She puffed out her chest like she was a game protagonist and spoke in an announcer like voice. She reached out for your hand and took it in your own, which made your nerves melt into a puppy dog affection. She may be winning, but only a little.
“Let me start out my big and grand speech with this, there is absolutely no doubt in my mind that you are going to nail this. You have worked so, so hard (Y/N) and your kind of, sort of amazing so you also have that going for you. The first thing I noticed when I first saw you was how much talent you had, and quite frankly I’m more worried about if everyone waiting for you is actually ready.”
She watched you through her big black eyes as they spoke, and you comfortably melted into them when you felt the sincerity of her words. She continued her speech for what felt like hours, but not hours that felt like a lecture, it felt more like a story. Or perhaps she was a doctor this whole time and successfully when down the checklist and cleared all the symptoms and bad emotions you were feeling like it was nothing, like it was just her job to be there for you. And when she finished she reached into her purse and pulled out a plastic black box. A small bento box, just like she would so often make for you. “You’re probably too nervous to eat, but when you’re amazing everyone I brought you dinner.”
“Soyou I love you so much.” You whispered in a quiet voice that still kept an excited tone. Maybe you did love her.
“It’s no big deal, I do this for everyone.”
A smirk shot across your face the minute you heard those familiar words. “I don’t think you do. I think you just love me.”
“Maybe I do.” She said back with a big smile lighting up her face.
Summary: Four elements, four goddesses, four sisters, four unstoppable forces yearning to be free…
A/N: KIA ( @pocinamedia ) AND I ARE FINALLY TEAMING UP AND WE ARE BOTH SO JAZZED ABOUT THIS SERIES!! SO PLEASE ENJOY!
Eons ago, four goddesses forged from the strongest of wills and powers sat high upon the mounts of the world and ruled together in harmony, each using their powers to care for the mortals over which they reigned and keep the evils of darkness at bay. Time and time again, they showed with great skill and force that no one would stand in the way of peace or their sisterhood. Many tried to subdue them and many failed…until the greatest evil they’d ever faced turned the very powers they used to ensure their secure, peaceful rule as the ultimate weapons of their demise.
It all began with the goddess of Water. Bom was by all means a sweet soul. Granting children safe passage to the deepest of waters as they swam, their laughter tinkling melodies to her ears as they splashed happily. She watched them from the cliffs along the far edge of the shore, content and relaxed. She thought she might recline against the soft grass grown by her sister and nap under the warm rays of the sun. Until her eyes landed on the impending storm that could have only been brought by Him. Advancing steadily across the horizon, He brought with Him a fury of stinging rain and colossal waves. Raging waters, some she could not keep at bay, crashed small children and their mothers with so much force, limbs were torn from bodies. Heads rolled up and down the coast as blood tainted the turquoise waters a vile shade of indigo. For a split-second she wondered in horror how something could turn from a source of joy to pain so swiftly. But she funneled her horror into blind rage as she swore to avenge those innocent lives that had been senselessly taken. Hours turned into days which turned into weeks as she battled him relentlessly. Just as it seemed she had finally gained the upper hand, he overpowered her with brute force and unyielding attacks. A multitude of watery hands of his malicious creatures wrapped around her ankles and dragged her beneath the surface the water upon which she had so proudly stood. She cried out in desperation as she tried to claw and kick against their clutches as they forced her spirit into a stone statue riddled with the scales of dead fish. A final scream left her lips as the stone pressed against the sides of her neck, the water bubbling in her throat sent sonic waves shooting through the seas, causing a series of tsunamis to rip through every town in their pathways. Clearing the entire coastline of all life, she stripped his worshipers to the bone. The stone holding her captive now mirroring the the fury that was present in her eyes and the triumphant smirk upon her lips.
Hyolyn, the goddess of the Wind, was normally a peaceful spirit that could send a calming breeze to wipe away the sweat from a man’s brow but could just as easily strangle a man with the same gentle gust. As fierce as the storm winds He brought, she relentlessly defended her temples when hordes of his vicious vicious men dared try to defile her sacred ground and her beloved priestesses who swore fealty to her. On that fateful day, the very halls that were always decorated in pristine whites and soft greys was adorned in deep crimsons and pieces of flesh. Wind had become so enraged, she became a hurricane; her anger never ceasing, only fueling his storm more and leaving her spirit stranded at sea away from her sisters’ loving care. Only whispers of her remain. But they are lost to the wind. Her own source of power silencing her. Only those who are as still as the summer doldrums can hear her cries.
The goddess of Fire, although she could be as warm and docile as her sisters, was consumed with a fiery urge for retribution against the hellish fiends who pledged fealty to His great evil. When He dared to set his sights upon Hyuju's sacred pyres, the fierce goddess set ablaze every man who stepped foot near them. The shrieks and howls accompanying the sizzling crackles and pops of blistering flesh were a symphony to her ears. The ferocious flames she expertly commanded swept across the battlefields, leaving a scorching wake in their path as they marched towards the massive storm He hid within. For days on end her fire warred against the dark waters and harsh winds surrounding Him. The memories of her beautiful sisters burned brightly in her heart and fueled her in the moments she felt herself fading. She pushed forward against His forces, every step uncertain but full of power even when she was surrounded on all sides. With her back pressed against the rocky edge of the very volcano she once found respite in, she gave a final cry and released a molten wave of her grief, pain, and fury that burned so hotly, it pierced the stormy shroud and scarred His face. Enraged, He sent forth a tidal wave that pushed her into the sweltering core of the volcano, and He blew strong winds to freeze the lava, thus entrapping her in a cold prison.
The goddess of the Earth was the last to fall. She wept as she helplessly watched the very wood she nurtured from seed to sapling to strong and unbending be used to burn women and men alive at the brutal, unjust Trials. The heavy thudding of feet parading through the scorched land she had toiled over drowned out her shrieks of rage. The horde ripped down doors and used the bastardized imitation of her dear sister’s gift to set flame to her earthen children: Trees, flowers, mosses, even the SOIL reeked of cloyingly pungent smoke; not the pleasant, spiced fragrance brought by her sister’s warm touch. These cruel men used the molten flames of anger and destruction to permanently silence the cries of those true innocents they deemed unworthy of living. When the corrupted flames beat down upon her door, she was ready. Or so she thought. She could have easily handled them, turning the ground beneath them into quicksand that would swallow them whole or crushing them in wake of a landslide. But when her sanctuary fell to her feet in glowing embers, she fell too when she saw they had used what she cared for the most against her. Her beautiful vines were wrapped so tightly around the few children who had managed to escape the Trials. Helpless, she surrendered; pleading weakly for the children’s lives to be spared. The very vines she once controlled relinquished their deadly grip on the children and surged forward to bind her body in intricate knots as they forced her into the very earth she loved so much. The dirt around her far too damaged and too weak to manipulate, but plenty enough to bury her alive within this mineral catacomb. Slumber became her only reprieve from the horrified shrieks and pained cries of her marred children.
Locked in their elemental prisons as time crept slowly by, they helplessly waited to be needed enough to be yanked from their slumbers.
