SITHMAS 2017: WHY!?

A a first general Sithmas gift this year, I’ll give the answer to the most commonly asked question of me ic and ooc: “FUCKING WHY!?”

Why, of course, extending to why the living fuck would I play and portray constantly this twitching flesh-obsessed parody of a Sith that exists fairly comfortably within the canons of other Sith. The answer is, from my point of view, really simple.

Darth Exvind exists because the Dark Side Corrupts.

That is LITERALLY it.

Half a decade ago when I signed onto the first RP server for SWTOR and saw a thriving Sith society and all that, mixed with what I knew of the darkside from the still-existing EU and all that, I had to reckon with ALL of these relatively sane and functional Sith making a goddamned society, there had to be some sort of touch stone, some sort of example, some SHOW that the Dark Side can RUIN people.

Not that you’d ever find that on Fleet with perfect pretty Sith Lords And/or Ladies/and/or/Slaves/////////AnD///?DoR///OIUQOr////

Darth Exvind was born because I have never seen any one else show the Dark Side reaping a toll on their own person and not on anyone else. So there it comes out in every stereotypical display along with the bouts of “sanity” as opposed to the completely unhinged and unchecked cruelty:

Because his is supposed to be a mind stripped of ego and super ego because the Dark Side is Passion - emotion, raw, uncaring, the exposed id with the full intellect of the person that once wielded it. 

Take a brilliant strategist and figher, remove self preservation and decency, put him in a society that values strength and power and deifies Sith, and...well, there you fucking go. 

Yes I mixed in Lovecraftian Horror because why the hell not? Jedi See the future all the time, so a Sith that, by nature, tries to force that ability upon themselves will See So much more - extra justified by the Gree and the literal Terror From Beyond I’m sorry you can’t get more Lovecraft than that - albeit in a Sci Fi setting

So that is why Darth Exvind Is Darth Exvind. Because I can think of exactly two other people I’ve met in my time on SWTOR that have had the Dark Side leave its mark either physically or mentally. I love and respect and in few cases adore my comrades and friends.

But fuck’s sake, next to no one plays the Dark Side as the volatile horror it should be.

Draw something normal, I say to myself. A beloved Star Wars couple hanging out with two loving birdies. It’ll be very sweet! Oho, my brain says to me: what if instead you sabotaged the whole romantic moment and made one of the birds land on Anakin’s head to start a hysterical mating dance? Great idea, jot that down instead and inform management we’ve finally nailed this whole ‘shipping’ concept.
