You guys should’ve been more discreet about skipping school, but it ended up being pretty much a shared secret between everyone in your class except the teachers, even James knew.
James wasn’t even in this school!
Martin, as usual, let it be known because he was popular with everyone, which meant more important information about school gates and other secret spaces for students who wanted to skip.
You, on the contrary, ended up panicking about it, thoughts of your parents finding out scared you more than getting expelled, because if they knew you were skipping and dating someone, and that someone being, Edwards Martin, would get you killed.
It was 4 PM, a second period of the afternoon and also the time you agreed on with Martin to skip.
Why this period? “Who wants to do handicraft on a Friday?” Martin reasoned.
You looked at him, and he looked back, a smirk growing wide on his face as you gulped anxiously at the idea being finally realised.
“Go,” he whispered, “ask her.” He nodded to you and you blinked at that, your palms sweaty and throat dry as you raised your hand.
“Teacher?” You asked, a nervous smile appearing on your worried face.
“Yes, L/N? Is something wrong?” She replied, a concerned expression started to emerge on her face as you wiggled in your seat, as practised.
“M-May I head to the toilet?” you stammered, mentally slapping yourself for looking too nervous, “I don’t feel good.”
The teacher nodded, opening the classroom door for you to go, and with that, you smiled in gratitude.
You stood up, taking a final glance at your boyfriend, who threw you a peace sign, and headed quickly towards the hallway.
“This is such a bad idea,” you murmured to yourself, rapid long strides you took to get to the toilet, opening a stall that you never dared in your three years of high school get near to, and sitting on the toilet seat, “so so bad, I hate you Martin.”
You inhaled sharply, anxiety climbing up your spine making you shudder at the thought of actually gathering up the courage to do such an action.
You felt your phone vibrate in your blouse, and you knew who it was.
You took it out with shaking hands, clumsily
holding it on your thighs as you read his message.
are u out
You sighed, slight annoyance hitting you.
Also, envy, because, how can someone be so casual about skipping?
“Martin I told you I’m coming just wait!” You squealed into the device and then turned it off.
You mustered your own energy into one inhale and one exhale, then stood on the toilet seat, carefully balancing your weight as your hands reached for the open window of the stall.
You opened it, precautionary measures were taken since you didn’t want to make any noise, and then it slid off easily. You were grateful, really, but right now you needed a big aid to be in your hands, that window was too heavy.
You then, with all your strength, grabbed the small open space, and jumped with all your might, slightly distressed about the fact that you had a possibility of getting stuck.
Hopefully, you made it, sitting on the rooftop of the school with a big window next to you, and your feet dangling above the stall you were once sitting in.
“Damn you and your crazy ideas Martin.” You thought.
You barely had time to calm yourself down before a shadow loomed over you.
“Wow,” a voice you were too familiar with drawled, seemingly amused, “to think you’re athletic enough to jump here, Kudos to you.”
“Martin.” You looked up, a glare making its way to him.
He stood there, leaning casually against the rooftop ledge like this was all a usual occurrence for him, hands tucked in his pockets and hood on his head, hair tousled messily from whatever he did to get here, and a smile you secretly loved and pretended to despise.
“You,” you stood up, pointing an accusing finger at his figure, “made me risk my dear life, to do God knows what—“
“To hangout!” He cut you off and walked towards you, anger fueling your system as he brought his hands out of his pockets, and a big smile on his face.
“I hate you!” You voiced, hair swaying with the breeze of air that suddenly came.
He dared to laugh, and mutter a small“I love you too.” Before kissing your cheek.
That never calmed you down.
“Okay, we actually have to run now though,” Martin suddenly announced, grabbing your wrist firmly, “you ready?”
“What—“ and before you could even acknowledge anything, he started running.
