3x12: I Was Made To Love You
"Imagine yourself having a baby and push." - Jed
Lizzie leaves Josie a note saying that she will be gone on a retreat for a while. She's going to work on her control issues and lets her know that Finch is a werewolf. Josie goes to see her dad and they discuss what could be causing all these monsters to come back again. Josie does a locator spell and finds that he's at a funeral home. He's back to being Ted with amnesia. Ric insists that the Necromancer needs to be brought back in order to help them. He leaves to go back to the school and Josie stays with Ted. She tells him about Finch and he lowkey gives her love advice?? After he's done being sentimental, the dead body rose from the casket, Ric comes back, Ted throws the bomb that Ric had previously placed in his hands, Ric tries to deactivate it, Ted takes it and throws it into the casket, and after it blows, laughs at saying "ashes to ashes". He refuses to bring back the dead, but Alaric tells him he has to. He needs to speak to the ghost of Leonardo DaVinci to ask him about the artifact and how it's connected to Malivore. Ted does summon DaVinci but the problem is, DaVinci speaks Italian. Jed doesn't work, but Cleo comes in to get Ric to help Landon and DaVinci recognizes her and they start talking. This girl called him "amore mio" which like WERE THEY A THING?! Cleo locks Ric and Ted inside, but Ted performs a spell to get them out which requires a human sacrifice, and he takes his own life. Redemption arc??? Okay.
Ethan wakes up and he's healed. He asks MG about it, and MG reveals that vampire blood can heal and that there are more vampires than just himself. BYE, this bromance better be turning into a ROMANCE. Ethan asked MG why he didn't tell him before, and MG says he was trying to protect his friends, but then Ethan became one of his friends too. MG didn't think he and Ethan were going to be friends because Ethan is cool but Ethan tells MG that he's the one who's a superhero and therefore amazing. He goes on to ask MG to turn him so that he can understand what it's like. When MG says no, he gets confused since they're supposed to be partners. YOU GUYS, ETHAN'S GONE ROGUE. He pretends for a second to accept the fact that MG won't turn him, but he steals his daylight ring, tells him he still has vampire blood in his system from MG healing him, and that for the first time in his life, he knows what to do. Oh, I have great memories with this quarry. Honestly, it might just be any quarry, but it still reminds me of TVD. Anyways, that's where Ethan goes to die, but MG comes in blazing glory to save him. YOU GUYS NO. NO. NO. NOOOOO. MG COMPELLED ETHAN TO FORGET EVERYTHINGGG. IFAOFAPFNFPIAEJFPESUI. I'm really just hoping that he was smart enough to still take vervain and was just faking it.
"You're my friend, MG. I needed one just as much as you."
Hope confronts Landon about how much weight he's been lifting and how that is odd considering that he's human now. He assures her that he is fine; he's good because they are good. She doesn't believe him and proves that something is up with him because he was eating a burrito she made with avocados - which Landon is allergic to. He didn't get an allergic reaction and Hope knocks him out with a spell. She goes to recruit Lizzie for help but finds Cleo instead. They put Landon in that fancy shed place thing that they use for like everything, and Hope spells him in. The spell is supposed to block supernatural beings from leaving, which worked when Landon tried to leave, proving that he is not human. He takes a blood sample and all three of them see that he doesn't technically have blood, he has Malivore mud. She tests his honesty and his reaction to her blood - which Cleo asks Hope to reconsider. Three drops and Landon's arms started turning into mud. Cleo leaves to get Ric, leaving Hope with a sleeping Landon. He wakes up, eyes flashing yellow-orange before getting up and telling Hope that he's fine, it's impossible to feel pain, and that he remembers everything. He's not who she thinks he is. That clay stump that she made of Landon? Yeah, that's him. She figures out that Cleo was behind the Gollum idea, kills him, and turns to leave but instead gets stabbed by Cleo. So Hope assumes that Cleo is the monster, but Cleo is just forcing Hope to "live up to her full potential" by triggering her vampire side in order to fulfill her destiny as the person who can open the artifact, destroy Malivore, and therefore free Cleo. However, before they can really fight, the Skull Hunter knocks Cleo out.
Josie had left the whole Ric/Ted thing after the funeral home and goes to see Finch. Which, the posters on the school doors say 'Spring Fling'? Is this who we are now? What happened to Decade Dances? Please. Anyways, Josie apologized for what Lizzie did. She admits that she likes Finch and regrets not saying it before. She invites Finch to come to the Salvatore School with her; she thinks it would really help. They kiss and literal sparks go flying.
THE SKULL HUNTER IS REVEALED. IT'S LANDON. For real this time, I guess? Ya'll I love him but I'm tired. And by the looks of it, all that Malivore isolation obviously, clearly, took a toll on him, traumatized him and we will be seeing the effects of that. My boy didn't come to play. See you next week!
Wait also I realized like, more than halfway through the episode that the Gollum was literally made to love Hope, as he said as Landon. I'm slow, anyways byeeee!
