Here's a commander I haven't updated in a while: Skullbriar, the Walking Grave. It's mostly a Voltron list, but I'm happy to branch out a bit and play other creatures that can carry the equipment around. It was last updated by MID or so.
If you're voltroning on Skullbriar, probably with counters, we got plenty of new toys for that!
Tumblewagg is just very solid already with a free counter every turn, but saddling 2 is also pretty easy, and doubling make things go out of hand QUICKLY. Talent is a bit a victim of its own success because it took some value from competitive play, but it's also a regular source of counter, ward 1 is surprisingly relevant, and then it starts doubling everything.
Bloated contaminator isn't quite as explosive as the other 2, but it's also a 4/4 with trample for 3 mana that's not that hard to cast, and will keep throwing counters around.
Speaking of doubling...
How about a buffing spell that uses counters and then sticks around as a card advantage engine for the rest of the game as long as skullbriar is out?
And while we're on card draw, we got a new Return of the Wildspeaker that can also put counters and give very relevant vigilance and trample and also be a Bane of Progress. That seems relevant.
I recommend this to almost every black deck, but you have a commander that don't mind a trip in the graveyard and is a two drop this can bring back while even banking extra energy.
This is just a good card that's also a land that produces both your colors.
Conclave Sledge-Captain is just funny, with each instance of Backup giving one instance of the damage=counters ability to whatever it targets. This can get really big REALLY fast, and giving trample and 3 counters to Skullbriar is a decent floor.
Ok hear me out: this is a bite spell that'll remove a creature and stick around to give +1/+0 and trample to Skullbriar (or whatever backup Voltron creature you have), without needing to pay mana to reequip it or anything, and Trample is really nice on a voltron threat. Skullbriar can get a trample counter though, and that might be better, but all that on the back of a mediocre removal is pretty nice. And sometimes you'll be desperate and swimming in mana and you might put it on level 3.
