Video games are a great medium of story telling
Specially game that go hard on their story and the lore behind it
Its one thing to make fictional world believable with the time period and politics and racist or privileged people along side it (bioshock, skyrim, witcher) but to play in that world and still find it believable and real in every little aspect like npc's doing mundane daily chores is such an art.
It blows my mind everytime how much works goes into video game's story and the world. And you playing it is huge part in the story even if your character don't say anything (bioshock) your actions have consequences even if it was not a choice based game. You and the character you're playing becomes one in more unique way than a book, even if you are playing a rpg game you still are customizing this character and choosing their actions and making them move, it feel personal. Whatever happens in the story, to your character, it feels personal toward you in a way a book can't.
Books and movies and tv shows are all great mediums for story telling, but video games has also become an amazing medium for it and we need to start acknowledging it more.
