The famous legend of the built-in-one-night Sunomata Castle!
As the story goes, many Oda retainers as been tasked to build a castle there at Sunomata. However, the warriors of the region attacked them and so they were unable to complete the task.
Hideyoshi then offered himself up for the job. Having already made connections with Hachisuka Koroku, who has major influence in the area, Hideyoshi had segments of the required building material constructed upstream. The segments then was floated down the river, and assembled on the desired site like an Ikea furniture. The actual time taken to finish this building is speculated to be anywhere between one week to 50 days.
This is more or less just a temporary establishment. Even though it says “castle”, it isn’t anything impressive. An approximation of what it had looked like:
Just a big encirclement with a few rudimentary huts inside.
Once the area was secured, the castle is later rennovated to become a proper structure.
