YES omg it was so good. I’ve watched it twice in three days and am seriously considering watching it again tonight after work. Cody has a problem with the movies’ interpretation of Wolverine (“he’s not mean enough!”) and I can’t stand how they made Rogue shy and reserved instead of a super-awesome, brash, and distinctly southern... but yeah, it was fucking awesome. And the way they switched back from past and future was really cool, in the same way as Korra Alone. I’m typically not a movie fan (I don’t have the patience to sit still for over an hour), so when I like a movie, it’s a big deal. Lmao.

Varrick’s such a good get out of my face smh smh (Nah but seriously I really liked him in Book 4. “Favorite” is definitely a massive stretch though.)

I do agree that he’s a really interesting character, but I don’t know if I actually like him all that much personally, you know?

It seemed more like they didn't feel like it was a bad decision to skip ahead or anything HUGE was missing from the three year time jump specifically. They do occasionally talk about wishing they could have fleshed some of it out more (specifically Mike saying that one episode doesn't quite do the stuff explored in Korra Alone justice, etc), but I think that answer was more like a "did you regret it?" kind of thing.

Ah, that makes a lot of sense (and I agree, especially given that they had 13 episodes each season).

I kind of have a penchant for gap-fillers anyway, and I do think there’s a lot of potential there, but I get why they’d want to leave it.

New ATLA/ LOK meta project announcement

Starting this Friday, I was planning to start a new project where I write a mini essay on every episode of ATLA and LOK. So, just to be clear, that’s 113 essays, on every episode from “The Boy in the Iceberg” to the last stand, of lengths that (out of the seven I’ve written so far) vary between 700 and 1700 words long. Technically, it’ll be slightly less than 113 essays, as I plan to do some episodes (mostly the multi-part ones) together, but hopefully you get the gist. Posts will go up on my blogger blog once a week, but I will link them from here, and probably post them here too, as I have actual followers who like Avatar on tumblr (hence my decision to promote one of my ideas on here for once). 

I can’t promise that I will definitely finish, but having already drafted seven posts (in over 8000 words), I’ll give it my best shot, even if I get all of five (or less) people reading my posts regularly. However, I would love to try and get a good discussion going as I blog on the episodes, so if anyone wants to comment on or reblog my posts, please do.

Anyway, what I’m really trying to ask is: would this idea interest anyone?

At first I thought this was commentary on the whole "how come we've never seen same-gender couples before KA, then, huh?" argument but now I'm not so sure.

no i’m seriously asking if there are bicycles in the avatar-verse because we’ve literally never seen one. 

I mean, the comics even address proto-glasses and establish the invention of glasses on one of the air acolyte kids in The Rift (was it that one? it was the one about Yangchen), so I seriously want to know: where are the bicycles?? to quote my tags: doesn’t anyone ride their bike to work??? Did they skip the whole manual bike thing and just go motor??? THESE ARE SERIOUS QUESTIONS.

(like for my Kya fic there’s a really important character that I designed based around her being a biker, but obvi at the time (Kya’s teenage years) motorcycles haven’t been invented yet so the joke is she looks hella cool but rides around constantly on this old beat up bicycle. But, I can only do that if they exist you feel me???)
