What happened to Jerrod?
I’ll assume he died from rampancy but idk.
And what about that AI that Dr Halsey sent into slipspace? The one that went insane.

Does ONI know what happens when we die? Do we go to slipspace?
I spent some time on a Remote Scanning Outpost. I'd send probes into slipspace and collect their data when they dropped back out. And that was it. This was the very edge of UNSC space. No one else was on board, except the AI. There was a lot of downtime. There was a lot of silence.
The data you get from slipspace is largely in the form of numbers that programs interpret. I got into the habit of getting the AI to use the data to generate sounds - what the probe "heard" while in slipspace - and I'd just turn off the lights and listen to that while the numbers crunched. It mostly just sounded like static and wind. But you start noticing patterns.
You start noticing whispers.
Can I tell you for certain that you go somewhere when you die?
No.
But I know that the universe doesn't forget you having been there.
UNSC Condors crack me up.
“yeah were just gonna strap a slipspace engine to this big-ass Pelican. Why? Because we can!”
Ingenious
Stupidly so.
It’s so dumb that it’s brilliant.
Didn’t much like the idea at first but now I guess it makes sense.
At least for secret stealth missions and clandestine operations requiring swift extraction.
I get it.
“Oh good job, Ellen, you may have been safer on the Ark.”

"Acknowledged, lieutenant," Cortana replied. "Be advised that this ship traverses Slipspace much faster than our UNSC counterparts. ETA to Reach in thirteen hours.
Halo: First Strike, Chapter 9
Here’s a throwback post for this Thursday; reaching into the Halo 4 archives. Thought I’d see if there’s any appreciation for FX pre-visualization instead of more concrete concepts. I’m often asked to conceptualize very abstract concepts, ideas that don’t necessarily have concrete precedents: in this case “Slipspace”. Would love to hear your thoughts! Do they make you feel as though you’re travelling between space and time? :)
