For the bde scientist thing, I'm currently on the third draft of my book where the main character is Marshall "Crooked" Marie Curie, a nuclear engineer and pathologist. He comes from a long line of inventors and scientists known for being untraditional and obscene. He is of no exception, being a homosexual that's very fond of cats, motorcycles, electronics that make satisfactory noises, and short men. He has a huge burn on his right cheek because, long story short, he's clumsy and stubborn.
