My kink is getting emails from my cast members telling me how much they appreciate my hard work and how I keep things running smoothly.
I am That Bitch.
You know what's a fun lil gift on a stressful opening night that you don't feel ready for? Getting an email from your production manager asking if you can sub the other opera in rep because their SM is sick. Guess I get to learn how to call TWO shows this weekend.
When reporting on a strange rumbling noise coming from above during our matinee, I got this response from the space’s regular PSM.
Monthly Check-In: May 8, 2019
Obsessing Over: My new apartment! I’m so happy with the location and my roommate and having a place that feels so much like home.
Working On: Professionally, I just wrapped up Rape of Lucretia with New Camerata Opera and have a week off before I start a workshop of Stepchild with IRT Theatre. Personally, I am working on improving my comfort level in the kitchen/my cooking skills, and I’m trying really hard to practice gratitude.
Thinking About: Getting some quality time with Joey and my mom before they both leave town this week.
Anticipating: Starting Stepchild, which is going to be a lovefest of incredible Deaf talent.
Listening To: My Brother My Brother and Me.
Reading: The Secret History by Donna Tartt. Turn Around Bright Eyes by Rob Sheffield. Cathedral by Raymond Carver.
Drinking: Raspberry seltzer water.
Wishing: For more time. With Joey, for work, for sleep, for reading, etc.
Over the course of a week and a half, I am:
Moving out of my apartment
Running a multi-million dollar event by myself
Guest lecturing in a stage management class at a local college
Flying to Florida to prep a show
All of these things give me crazy anxiety just to think about. But I will accomplish all of these things because I am a badass. Send good vibes, y’all.
Wanted to get started on taping the rehearsal hall today while the entire staff is in a meeting. Discovered the printout the production manager left for me isn’t to any scale that exists. Fun.
