Homework featuring Gwen from Small Saga. My interpretation of her first fight with Lamia

I love the soundtrack design in Small Saga. Its basic premise is a wainscot-fantasy-meets-sword-and-sorcery sort of deal with mice and rats wielding lighters and pocketknives and other human-made tools as "god-weapons", played more or less 100% straight, with the obligatory blend of plinky faux-medieval ambience punctuated by thumping orchestral bombast for the big events, and then out of nowhere you get hit with a boss fight accompanied by this:

I want you to try and imagine, without context, what you could possibly be fighting that would warrant this music.

Small Saga

Recently, on Edit:Ed's reccomendation, I started playing Small Saga, and in the process I found a wonderful song within entitled Rat Tailed Rover. Since there's a portion of the game where the protagonistic characters play an instrumental version of the opening section of this song, I decided to go look up the lyrics and perform at least a small part of it myself.

In the process of doing so I found out that the composer, song writer and original performer for Rat Tailed Rover is actually on tumblr, so @neitherabaron, thank you for this rousing little ditty, which I listened to multiple times in a row, both because it's a delightful song in an already heartrending game, and because, even after finding out everything about Kofi Young, I still couldn't find the lyrics, so I had to transcribe them myself. :) Linked below is the original performance of Rat Tailed Rover, which can also be found in my playthrough of Small Saga, though if you have not the patience for watching all the way through that, I understand.

Lamia from small saga

Oh wow. She's not just a furbait design, but a very good furbait design in a very well-designed game. (Look at that sexy parallax in this gif!) So. I looked at a playthrough of this game to see what leads into her second form in this fight. So. She's carnivorous. I'm down for her freak. Wow. Just that's super impressive.
