Day 9 of #MarchMeetTheMaker is Story behind the name. Honestly, I struggled coming up with a name. I tried so many combinations of things, but a lot of them were already taken. Then I started to think of words to describe what I was making. “Wild” because I wanted to make wild animals to showcase the world’s amazing biodiversity. “Whimsy” because my style is whimsical and I’ve just always loved the word. And I came up with “Woolies” as something I could call my creations and would also give an idea of what they were made of. I knew it was a bit long, but I like alliteration and thought it flowed nicely. It made me so happy the first time my nieces started referring to them as woolies, and then gradually, other people did as well. That’s when I really started to embrace the name I chose. This photo shows some of my past biodiversity themed shop updates - Canadian, Aquatic, Australian and South American. I haven’t done one this year yet, but I plan to!
