when harry sees bob ogden's memory in half-blood prince, he describes marvolo gaunt as having "bright brown" eyes and morfin as having "dark" ones.

harry doesn't tell us what colour merope's eyes were - all he says is that her eyes stare in different directions and that, when he then sees the memory of dumbledore's first meeting with the eleven-year-old voldemort, there was "no trace of the gaunts" in her son's face.

but...

tom riddle jr.'s eyes are also described throughout the series as "dark", just like his uncle's. meaning that they must also be brown, like his grandfather's.

i think it makes perfect sense, then, to suggest that this is yet another of the strange likenesses between harry and voldemort which the text hides away for us to discover.

or: the young voldemort gets his dark eyes from merope. and - like harry - he is therefore the spitting image of his father, except for the fact that he has his mother's eyes.

Just want to take a moment to actually be really fucking proud of myself. I just got my exam results back from the mocks we did a couple of weeks ago and I actually smashed it😁 and I’m having a self- love moment, especially because college has been so disrupted by COVID. definitely going to order my favourite pizza as a treat tonight.
