happy six year anniversary to the antarctic empire!
AE!Techno built the plane as a ‘haha Phil my wings are faster that youuuuurs’ joke but then Philza was like starry eyed and so impressed and just genuinely enthusiastic that Techno backpedaled and was like yeah yeah I totally have a second plan so we can fly together just two best buds in a plane what’s that behind you- and spent all night trying to build a second one for Phil. Who found him asleep at a messy table and draped an AE uniform jacket over Techno for warmth.
Inktober Day 27: Aftermath
aerial attack
i don't trust those new faction leaders. i get the feeling they're planning something...
I can tell that we are gonna be friends!
C!Tommy Thalia, along the years! Her existence/concept belongs to @idiot-mushroom (the design on the far right is completely their's, cause why fix perfection? The rest are designs based on my personal headcanons!)
Post Lab: left to be raised by a village nearby the site, (s)he's dressed in their traditional wear; a wetsuit layered and topped with furs, pelts, and leather, all accented in brown, white, and green. This is both to combat the cold and moisture of the lands while also helping the residents blend in with the spuce trees of their home.
Smp Earth: while (s)he may be the leader of his(her) faction, (s)he's still young, and so what (s)he wears depends on which member helped him(her) get dressed that day; Luke - baby blues and teal, Bitzel - formal/business attire, Deo - red, white, and black
L'manberg Revolution: thanks to his(her) Business Bay days, (s)he's well verse in tailoring and sewing, so when his(her) country was on the verge of war, (s)he had a hand in making their uniforms; a navy blue coat, white vest and breeches, a red collar and sash, brown boots, and a black tricorn hat
Pre-Disc Final: after losing nearly everything of value on Doomsday, (s)he throws, or cuts away, any connection to Technoblade and spends days non-stop visiting wifey, The Grind, collecting resources for his(her) upcoming fight with the admin (at the expense of both his(her) mental and physical health that were already poor to begin with); the red/white top and cargo pants from Exile, both hastily tailored to rid the worst of the fabric, pieces of netherite armor, a rosary to Prime, the Axe of Peace, and Tubbo’s bandana and compass
Post Revival: after transitioning (mtf), the bright colors and laughter from her youth seemed to have rejuvenated before her very soul, and seemingly, reflect on her clothes! (Y'all should REALLY check out @idiot-mushroom for more lore/details, their art and headcanons are mouthwatering); the ICONIC red/white now cropped tee, bootcut khakis with a belt and embroidered flowers at the bottom, a blue hip shawl with her favorite flowers in the pocket, hand/arm wraps, brown Uggs, a diamond choker, and Tubbo’s compass and bandana on her right
THE TECHNOFORT IS REAL BOYS. SHOUT OUT TO @/theantarcticempire !!!

What is that noise? Is that the sound of a thousand people signing up for an exchange, and you could be among them?
Hello! It is time for me to do my annual song and dance while talking about Yuletide, a yearly small fandoms exchange. It's for fandoms with under 1k fics on the archive (complete, in english, to be precise), and it's the largest fan fiction exchange that I know of. And like, that's not close. 1340 people signed up last year, and it's been running since 2003. Normally you'd consider an exchange to be "big" when it has 300 participants. Yuletide is on a different level. A key reason we even have the exchange functionality on Ao3 is because Yuletide was so big that it needed custom code and so the people building Ao3 built it for them, and thus every exchange after that is in its debt. It's the OG.
It's a big exchange fandom tradition and a lot of people only do yuletide in their year, and it has a bunch of things that it does that nobody else does because of the aforementioned "been running for twenty three years" thing, and I think it qualifies as a Cultural Event to be part of. I personally am signed up for the pinch hitter list which I watch like a sports feed because it is fucking delightful to get an email that's like "we need a pinch hit for either an obscure textbook only published in german, a children's show from the 50s, or a YA book that was only published for two months before the publisher went under" and then five minutes later someone's been like ME I CAN TAKE IT and the pinch hit is gone. I don't actually know of any time that Yuletide has had to delay to make sure everyone gets a gift because people throw themselves on pinch hits like grenades and turn them around in 24 hours or less. I got to be the person going ME ME ME last year and I turned around a pinch hit in six hours and then went to bed like ^_^ I Saved Christmas. Anyways.
Yuletide is a cultural phenomenon to be part of, and if you have space in your writing year I am actively luring you into it, I am doing psss pss pss fingers at you, I am holding up the tag set and going ooooo, look how cool this is and nodding fervently.
But wait, you say, not having looked at the tag set yet. I don't know if I have any small fandoms I can write for?
Several points in response to that. First of all, you really never know. They approved 4,278 fandoms this year, including a bunch of MCYT! If you are into MCYT, the fandoms approved are:
And SO MANY OTHERS. There is everything from niche historical RPF to books to fandoms to movies that don't have a lot of fics on the archive. You might be surprised to know what niche fandom you haven't thought of for years has been represented in the tag set because someone is hopefully ready to request it.
And even if you don't have of the more traditional fandoms in the tag set! There is a Yuletide tradition of nominating one-off things that you're like "I can write a fic about that" that don't have a traditional canon in the way that we'd normally expect, or that have a VERY short canon. I wrote Tumblr/Reddit fanfic one year cause I matched on Anthropomorphic Websites. Some of the niche fandoms that are people being like "heheheh yeah I could fic that" this year are:
That is just the tinest slice of the fandoms available, I assure you. I'm pretty firmly MCYT for most of the year, and this year I was like Oh No, because I normally fill my signup with anthropomorphic but I didn't feel like I could write a decent story about numbers, but I made a short list of just like the paintings and commercials and tumblr posts I already knew and I was up to 16 fandoms. That was BEFORE I started googling "what is this "sex house - the onion" cause I bet I could do something with that...". There are a Lot of Fandoms.
There are so many fandoms and honestly it's a joy just to read the tag set and marvel at what people have nominated, from kids books from the 60s to historical blorbos from the 1200s to TikTok sketches from this year. I am personally absolutely bouncing about the prospect of being able to request dangerous crow boy whose job it is to destroy plastic, and I am inviting you to join me. Let's request obscure blorbos together!
If you would like to know more about yuletide and the many intricacies of how it works, either ask me a question here (this will be my fourth year doing yuletide, so I've made enough mistakes to know the basic ones to avoid) or ask the actual mods on the dreamwidth comm or the discord, they know everything and are happy to answer questions. If you are already like hot damn I need to be a part of this, no more questions let me through, you can sign up directly at the collection, signups opened earlier today! You need to request at least three fandoms (up to eight) and offer at least four (up to ten!), and you must be 18 or older because NSFW is a possible gift. You can sign up there until October 24th, 9pm UTC, which is 5pm in EST.
Yuletide is a delightful cultural experience and a thing that surprised me once I started looking at the tag set was how accessible it actually is, if you are a) a book or movie nerd, or b) can look at two household items and be like "yeah but what if this was yuri", or c) on social media Posting Spaces, or d) any combination of the above. You can request "humans are space orcs" as a fandom and maybe get original SF written for you! You can request Grian Watchers angst, or Emduo hurt/comfort, or maybe you think the anthropomorphic numbers should kiss. Whether you've been doing Yuletide for a decade or if this is your first foray into exchange spaces, you're welcome— come on down and let's make beautiful things together!
