What happened in Liberio was absolutely awful, but we gotta remember that it happened that way (as opposed to the battle happening in a more secluded area) because Eren and the Paradis forces were lured there.

The Tyburs are very private and highly guarded, and it’s not the 21st century, so it’s not as if they could hack Willy’s phone and jump him in a back alley. Plus, I’m pretty sure even if they did manage to track him down, they would have considered the possibility of him being a decoy. They needed a situation with the Warhammer present, which it would be if it (well, she) knew the Founding Titan was guaranteed to be there for her to capture. And the Tyburs chose Liberio as the main stage. Not their mansion, not a private villa, but Liberio.

Now, I’m not excusing Eren one bit for the hand he played (or anyone else, for that matter), but it was the Tyburs that damned Liberio as a battleground.

Edit: when I said lured, I meant lured to Liberio specifically, not to Marley. Eren was for whatever reason deadset on going to Marley. Anyway, both parties were out to get the other; with the lack of personal information on one another, they both had to play the bait and lure each other out of hiding. It was never going to be a black ops take out. They both knew that.
