what do you think about sasha?
She’s hands down my favourite female character in the story. I’ve always admired her and found her relatable because she’s quirky and greedy, which makes her so much more real and easier to connect with (especially compared to other female characters like Mikasa and Historia, who are more perfect than not). Her being embarrassed about her accent presented her as an insecure/self-conscious person too. That’s something I understand as a non-native English speaker. But yeah, I like characters that are visibly flawed, and her debut established her as one right away.
Secondly, I’ve always found her hella cool (I’m very gay for her shooting skills). Like, despite the fact that she’s had her moments where she gave into fear, she’s always been a strong individual because of her upbringing. Her hunting skills are no joke, and her hearing skills are a great asset that no one ever gives her credit for. She also has some pretty quick reflexes, like that time she saved Samuel from falling all the way to the ground after the Colossal showed up again and the dude got hit in the face (that’s a highly underrated moment in my opinion; anime-onlies were going on about Levi doing the same in RTS but like, Sasha did that “running down the Wall” move long before him lol). My point is, she might be silly most of the time, but she knows when to get serious.
Chapter 103 (Seriously this is one of the coolest moments in the battle. She’s so badass. Literally went up against four shooters with one rifle. And bullseye.)
This brings me to her character development, which is one of my favourites in the story. She goes from not wanting to help refugees/integrate into society to joining the SC to fight for the helpless and standing up against a Titan without her gear to save a little girl. And throughout all that, she was still scared but pushed through it.
So yeah, she’s just an amazing character overall. To me, she brought more than just comedic relief to the plot and it saddens me that a lot of people don’t see that.
