Hello! can I request nanaba jealous of reader that spend time with her friends more than her?
Hey, thank you for this ask! It’s been a while since I wrote anything about Nanaba so this was fun. Also thought posting on Valentine’s Day was appropriate. This one does turn romantic, I wasn’t sure from your request if that was what you wanted so I apologise if not! (I’m always happy to write another version) But there’s no adult content in this one, just fluffy stuff. Also Mike is a fantastic best friend!
Nanaba hates the way this feels, hates the colour she feels she’s radiating. When people speak to her and she replies in a manner which can only be described as ‘short’ she panics, worried that it’s as clear as day for everyone to see how irritable she is. Or worse that they know the reason behind her behaviour.
Envious is not a word she’d ever associated with herself. Content - check. Grateful - check. Happy & cheerful - check. Moody - sometimes. Angry - yes, sometimes, she’s only human. Jealous, no that wasn’t her.
But recently she’s been feeling like she’s going crazy every time she sees you with someone else, all the fun you have with your friends. Nanaba finds answers in bottles of drinks, only they’re not answers just lies devoid of love but either way it makes it easier to sleep. What is it that she wants? That’s the problem she isn’t sure, is it to have you as a close friend, a best and trusted friend, like a sibling or something more?
Nanaba sees everything, it’s a trait she picked up on when younger. She notices small things that might be missed by others, so when you smile at others, when your hand brushes against their skin all of it she makes a mental note of and wishes it was her instead.
Sometimes when she closes her eyes she pictures it’s her that makes you laugh, that she’s the one you go to before anyone else to spend time with. That you stroke her cheek or brush her hair. The thought alone makes her feel warm inside and sends occasional shivers up her spine. The want to be touched is overwhelming.
The feelings of jealousy are always followed by guilt, the last thing in the world Nanaba would want to come off as was obsessed, envious or controlling. Why shouldn’t you have lots of friends who make you happy?
There’s moments where she nearly says something, but instead retreats afraid of embarrassing herself. The problem is that the longer she thinks like this without saying something the worse the urge and desire becomes. The chain reaction ends up with her feeling hurt and rejected, even though you haven’t done anything wrong. So again comes the guilt.

“What’s wrong?” Mike asks while they’re on watch.
Nanaba looks up, deer caught in the headlights. Mike, Mike also notices everything but not only that it wouldn’t surprise her if somehow he could smell her sadness or her fear.
“Nothin’” She shrugs her shoulders.
Mike chuckles, “Really Nana, that’s the game you want to play right now?” He teases as he walks over to her and rests his arm on her shoulder.
She can’t help but smile, “Right, cause you see everything.”
“Well I like to think I know my best and oldest friend.”
Nanaba can’t conceal her smile, sometimes Mike can be awfully cheesy, who uses terms like best friend at their age? But she’s so grateful for it and knows he’s right.
“It’s just…there’s this person, a friend…I like them I guess?”
Mike nods but doesn’t interrupt, allowing her to get her thoughts straight and communicate in the way she needs to.
“Y/N, I mean they’re my friend and I thought that’s all they were. I thought we were just close friends who trust one another and have a laugh but…recently I’ve found myself feeling a little jealous, well a little foolish really. Jealous of how much time y/n spends with their other friends, how close they seem with certain friends and how I wish it was me.”
Mike pulls Nanaba into a hug without a word, “Ahh kid you got it bad.”
“Kid?” She raises an eyebrow and playfully pushes him away, “We’re practically the same age!”
Mike rubs his chin thoughtfully, “Could you suggest hanging out, just the two of you? Even if it’s odd half hours here and there, a coffee date that kinda thing?”
Nanaba considers this for a moment, knows it makes perfect sense but still isn’t sure.
“What’s the worst that can happen?” He asks.
“I’m embarrassed and left heartbroken,” she replies.
“Well you’ll still have me.” Mike poses for a moment like a statue and once again Nanaba can’t help but laugh. “Seriously Nana, if you really like them it’s not worth holding all of this inside. If the love is unrequited then at least you know and you’ll still be close friends…but it’s better to know than to spend your life regretting that you didn’t say anything.”
Nanaba nods, she knows Mike is right, he often is. It strikes her as funny later on when she’s thinking about their exchange, she’d never used the word love. She hadn’t even thought about it but Mike was right, maybe he really did know her as well as that.

When Nanaba approaches you the following morning there’s something different about her, a shift in how she holds herself. She’s elegant as always but she seems more confident, happier than you’ve seen her for a while.
When you greet her with a smile and go to hug her, she seems almost shocked but in a good way. A small chuckle as she wraps her arms round you and a smile bright enough to lighten up a room when she pulls away.
“Hey,” you say, “Where’ve you been? I’ve missed you!” You’re telling the truth, you really have missed her, her jokes and the way she seems to know you like no one else.
Nanaba is quiet for a moment, the confidence she exuded a moment ago seems to be in retreat. You notice she’s opened her mouth but no words are coming out, her bottom lip quivers a little and when she looks into your eyes the faintest trace of a blush highlights her cheeks.
“I…” she starts but looks at the ground.
She shakes her head, “Nothing, I’m sorry I haven’t been around for a while just busy yah’ know but I’ve missed you. I’ve really missed hanging out and spending time together.”
You smile in return, she really is adorable and hearing her say those words sets your heart beating a little faster.
Before you have a chance to reply she continues, “Do you think, maybe we could spend a little time together, alone I mean.” She doesn’t break eye contact this time, though you’re sure you can see her pupil’s dilate just a little.
You grin back, now you’re sure you’re blushing a little as you feel the heat rise up your neck and into your cheeks. It’s probably nothing right? The two of you are good friends but maybe, just maybe there might be something more and there’s only one way to find out.
You nod, “Sure, sounds great, really great I’d like that a lot.” You notice you’re stuttering a little as you say it.
“When do you wanna…” Nanaba starts but is unable to continue as you interrupt.
“How about now,” you reply and take her hand in yours, no time like the present right?
There’s an awkward moment of silence as both you and Nanaba contemplate what has just transpired and then it’s broken with a laugh.
“Now sounds great,” she says turning to the side to look at you.
She smiles and it’s so very warm. You smile and feel your heart might burst.
As you walk the two of you remain holding hands, occasionally swinging them a little, her grip tightens just a little on yours. It’s dusk and the sky is a beautiful colour painted in pastels and a solitary black bird serenades you. Nanaba wonders if she should tell you everything about how she’s been feeling and why she kept her distance. But then she thinks maybe it can wait for another day, maybe this is a enough.
