AU:Snape survived the war. When he occasionally argues with his Rocket, the portrait of Dumbledore in the headmaster’s office is empty.
“We were under the impression that your Age Line would keep out younger contestants, Dumbledore,” said Karkaroff, his steely smile still in place, though his eyes were colder than ever. “Otherwise, we would, of course, have brought along a wider selection of candidates from our own schools.”
“It’s no one’s fault but Potter’s, Karkaroff,” said Snape softly. His black eyes were alight with malice. “Don’t go blaming Dumbledore for Potter’s determination to break rules. He has been crossing lines ever since he arrived here — ”
“Thank you, Severus,” said Dumbledore firmly, and Snape went quiet, though his eyes still glinted malevolently through his curtain of greasy black hair.
Okay, but that's actually so freaking cute? Severus immediately jumps to Dumbledore's defence, then rapidly "goes quiet" when Albus interrupts him and tells him off – like a father when his two kids fight – and hides his face with his long hair curtains.
Like I don't care about evaluative descriptions, Snape advocating for Albus in his soft little voice, instantly shutting up and curling into himself a bit in discomfort when Albus refused his help and stood with Harry (I mean yeah, that was totally reasonable of Albus, since he knew Harry couldn't have done it. but a lot of people, even not negatively prejudiced to Harry, assumed he willingly did it – including some other teachers, so can't blame Severus too? he probably had the best intentions in mind) is the ultimate snumbledore moment😔😔😔
