the lack of a word for born or peaceful tal-vashoth also fucks me up so bad in Veilguard. as in it makes me big mad.

it was a whole thing with Bull in DAI that he would argue with an inquisitor about these identity words. "you're not qunari" he'd say. but then later in the game, he says you're not tal-vashoth either. because you are not a blood crazed animal? and the game presents it to you, through his hypocrisy there, that there is no place given for non-qunari qunari. there is no word for them. you are either qunari, or tal-vashoth. qunari follow the qun. tal-vashoth are "savages". if you are neither, there is no word for you. the hole there feels so deliberate. there is no way to be qunari without the qun. you are this, or you are lesser.

then Veilguard lets Seer Rowan stand there and actively enforce a preference for no identity label. "just call me seer Rowan". that is.... hmm. what ethnic group does not have a name? one that is denied a name. people define themselves. in DAI, that was AND FELT deliberate. that there was no word for qun apostates. in Veilguard, it just feels like deliberately obtuse identity politic. WHY would seer rowan insist there is no word for what she is? she is not human. she is not qunari. she is not ever going to be not-racialized; she has fucking HORNS. who wrote this.
