Two Fic Recs For THG Fans

One of my favorite modern AUs is Goodbye (Again) by soamazinghere.

Katniss gets bumped from an oversold flight and is forced to spend the night in the airport. She meets Peeta, a fellow stranded passenger, and they decide to keep each other company. When their airport stay ends abruptly, Peeta and Katniss reluctantly part and return to their respective hometowns. Will they ever see each other again? Will the connection they forged turn into something more?

Something about this fic hooked me from the start. I fell in love with this Peeta, so gentle and sweet, and this Katniss, who so desperately tries to keep herself from falling for Peeta in this long-distance romance. I read this fic in WIP fashion, and I can’t tell you how much I would think about the story between updates. The author created a detailed universe with interesting secondary characters, as well. And when searching out the link for the fic above, I realized that soamazinghere is also the author of one of my favorite modern AU one-shots, Perfect.

Katniss Everdeen has finally found the perfect man. It doesn’t bother her one bit that he’s fictional.

This is such a fun story. It teases readers because it deals with the peculiarities that come with the love of fandom. You can find Perfect here.

Why I chose this fic: An intriguing story with an unexpected ending. It also shows Peeta’s devotion to Katniss.

1. Who was the last person you held hands with?Shella was the last person I held hands with. Probably walking across the road or something….20. Do you like your neighbors?Our closest neighbors no. Not a huge fan. But we have some that live to the left of us. And there is a good sized field between us and they are very nice. I’m good, shocked I’m almost ½ way done with my pregnancy! But yeah, I’ve been pretty good. How about you?

6:00am

As the overhead lights abruptly flicker back on throughout the airport concourse, I am immediately woken up. I quickly throw my right arm over my eyes and groan. I slowly register that my left hand is holding onto something. Peeking under my arm, I see that I am holding another person’s hand in my lap. Peeta’s hand.

That’s when it hits me that we are leaning against the wall in the same position we were in last night. We must’ve stayed like this all night long. I can’t believe I actually fell asleep. I feel guilty, wondering if Peeta slept at all. I slowly turn my head around to look at him, hoping he’s asleep. Nope. My grey eyes catch his blue ones staring back at me.

“Good morning,” he says, smiling.

“H-hi,” I stammer, awkwardly trying to extricate myself from his arms without being too obvious about it. His arms tighten around me in a hug for a split second and then he lets me go.

“So…” I begin, shyly looking down at the ground. “Sorry about that. I didn’t mean to fall asleep on you. I hope you’re okay.”

That’s fairly successful! And as you said, you weren’t a kid - even though you were surprised, you had the means to take care of the surprise baby. ;)

FAM for the win :) We have two fam babies but they were both conceived when we knew we were risking it so all’s well.

Yay! Once I realized all the signs, it was an incredibly empowering feeling. Plus no extra hormones. I've got enough of those as it is!!
