matthias helvar’s character arc is actually so fucking beautiful because he actively chooses to change his viewpoint of the world. he instinctually thinks something bad, and then stops and reminds himself to give it a second thought. he sees in hindsight how his old life was poisoning him. he wants to help others who had been in his position, even if they can’t see the poison on their own yet.

If the Crows were modern day high schoolers, Matthias would definitely be the type of guy to set up a dramatic, complex promposal for Nina. Like I imagine him reluctantly going to Kaz for help to plan some sort of extravagant display.
