Matthias: the plan is falling apart!! you demjin, you did this on purpose!
Wylan: what now?!
Kaz:
What would people (who likely have no idea what I’m on about) prefer me to use my limited but newfound time with:
Finish “The Crows Move In” faster
Finish it slower but put out a wesper one shot at the same time
Finish it faster, then work on wesper one shot
Finish it faster, then work on ‘missing scenes’ from The Crows Move In
The Crows Move In is the six of them surviving leaving British high school and going to uni, featuring the canon ships
The wesper one shot is with Wylan being sixteen, Jesper being seventeen, featuring Wylan’s immeasurable sass that he has well earned
“Missing” scenes entail things that have been mentioned to happen in my longfic but never go into detail because of my need to Get It Done, or ones in which I think would be cool from another characters perspective
Please vote I need accountability <3
Is the wraith flag black bc like pirate stuff or bc a black flag represents a ship lost with all its cargo and Inej takes down ships and all its cargo
Ig it's kinda the same but im listening to the SoC audio book rn and idk im delusionally tired
something i really really hate is how lots of people in the six of crows fandom view inej (and as a result kane)j. i (partially) blame this on the show. i think a lot of people in the fandom often dont let inej be her own person which is odd because throughout inejs chapters she thinks about kaz significantly less than she thinks about her future and herself. i know its a product of misogyny but its really frustrating to watch inej get dumbed down. and its not just on the topic of kanej that she gets dumbed down but just in general. shes perceived as this morally perfect person whos never hurt a fly when she has KILLED people. and willingly continues to kill people. obviously she does not like killing but she DOES enjoy feeling dangerous and this is shown multiple times throughout the book. its really disheartening to see this part of inej get erased not just in the fandom but also in the show. most of inejs character was watered down to kaz and the rest of it was changed to her doing everything for a brother ? the whole point of inejs character is that she has self love ans self respect for herself. that she refuses to lay down and die and that she does not regret what she has to do to survive. that she will always ALWAYS choose herself and that is so so beautiful to see in a female character. on the other hand inej’s decision to choose herself does not mean she doesnt love or care about kaz. shes simply just not willing to lose herself over him and that is BEAUTIFUL. i think instead of believing that inej doesnt love kaz for choosing herself and refusing to lose herself by attempting to save him and by accepting the way he treated her pre “i will have u without ur armor” scene, we should all take a page out of her book and remember to not forget ourselves in the face of love. to not forget our personal goals and to not settle to. i love inej ghafa so much i wish people would take her as she is because she is a femnomenal character with complexities and an inspiring story and she is more than her relationship with kaz.
Thinking about the ways Inej and Jesper both first meet Kaz and what it says about their relationship.
Jesper first meets Kaz as a saviour sweeping in to save him. At the start of SoC he still sees Kaz through rose coloured glasses and hadn't considered the idea that Kaz might have set it all up until Inej points it out. On a logical level I'm sure he understands what Kaz is capable of, but he can't help but associate him with the excitement of danger or look up to him. He falls for who he hoped Kaz is - not for what he actually is.
But Kaz is completely honest with Inej about what he is and what he can offer when they first meet. Inej and Kaz both know what it's like to be tricked and powerless. Inej understands that 'Dangerous' is partially just an act that they perform to protect themselves.
She never forgets who Kaz is when she falls for him. She understands that he pushes her away to protect himself. She sees that his cruelty is his armor.
We don't talk enough about how Wylan was basically told he'd do great working in a pleasure house. He's 16 years old.
I want to know how the other crows would react to that, especially Inej and Jesper.
Friendly reminder, all the crows are TEENAGERS!
Kaz is basically a criminal mastermind, leading a gang, doing the Dregs taxes in his head, and he wouldn't even have graduated high-school yet.
Inej was kidnapped by slavers and sold at age 14. She became an assassin at 16.
Jesper dropped out of university and developed a gambling addiction at 15.
Wylan took over his father's merchant empire and had his father put a hit on him while he was 16.
Nina was a child solder. She got captured by slavers and escaped. She got someone she cared about sent to jail. She developed a drug addition. She's 17 years old.
Matthias' family was killed when he was 13. He became a child soldier like Nina after. He got sent to hellgate at age 18.
