#sock darning

This weekend’s craft has been tackling the mending pile that I tend to tackle once a year at best, but it’s so satisfying to save wool socks! Especially when you look at the price of buying a pair new… (The first pair I hand knit—one had a hole that I darned, the other was wearing thin so I double stitched it. I used the original wool, crazy how much the color has faded on these well loved socks. The second is a store bought wool sock that had a tiny hole and a bunch of wear, so I darned to fix and reinforce…I still have two more socks to go)

More Sock Mending!!!

Seems like my socks develop holes almost as fast as I can darn them now. It's hard to complain when they end up looking so neat after being mended. All the mends pictured are done using the Scotch Darning method which is still my favourite way to darn.

A darned sock is just a sock to a sick, mending-pilled freak like me

Sharp toenails and a pair of DMs which have stretched out so much they are now a half size too large gave these socks holes and thinning spots. Now darned and ready to continue their hard work!
