From 7,450 to 7.4 #million. In the #1841 #population audit of the “ #Colony of Hong Kong” it was documented that 30 people lived in “Hamlet” of #SokKwuWan (Soo-Koo-Wan), and a total of 7,450 in the new colony, including those residents in markets, boats and imported labour from #Kowloon (Kowlung). Figures were not give for any other villages (hamlets) due to the inaccessibility of boats at the time. 199 years later and we see that Sokkwuwan residential numbers have grown 10x to above 300 residents, whilst #hongkong has grown 1,000x, to 7,450,000 people (albeit so has the size of the #territory ). #islandexplorerglobal (at Hong Kong) https://www.instagram.com/p/B7xJ6_iB1fb/?igshid=sp5td9c95x0r
