So when they were talking in the live about what song to sing at the concert, and JK makes that face at JM and vice versa, RM is actually looking at them fondly for a change, and Jaksal thinks they are talking about 'letter' because JK says something about an alphabet song? But then JM says he doesn't think he is that brave and he holds his heart. Why does he have to be brave to sing a fan song?

Because quite simply put Letter isn't a fan song,...

Letter is a pure and unadulterated love song! It's honest. It's unflinching in It's vulnerability, it's tender and reciprocal.

Because what do you mean Jimin wrote a song about feeling inadequate to express his honest feelings?! About holding on tight to a person who held him tight once too?! Singing about being strong for that someone, giving back to that person as much as he received. This mystery baby, one half of an equal partnership that he wants to last forever!?

Jimin needs courage because it will be him up on that stage, not the idol, but Jimin himself.

And it just so happens to feature a certain someone. Huh....interesting.

I am not even considering that the 'alphabet' exchange between Jikook was about anything but Letter. As an avid lover of this song I have suffered enough with Letter not being on streaming platforms. And I also want to dream of a world where something beautiful like Letter sung live can exist. Can make people believe in magic. So I will delusionally hold hope for it to happen.

It bring tears to my eyes just thinking about it.

i really enjoyed your analysis of the parallel!!! i wanted to also say that may tripping in her first contest, showing how nervous she was, and drew laughing is also interesting because according to solidad drew CRIED in his first contest!! and then when confronted with it he says he was “a bundle of nerves back then” and iirc may was confronting him in an amused way but then when he explained a bit more she also had more of a genuine reaction just like how drew went from laughing at her to also just going “hmph!” idk if im reaching lol but i just thought the parallels were interesting!!

no it’s good you point that out because that’s so incredibly true! 

The prospect of May “teasing” Drew about his first contest loss to eventually having a more genuine reaction is definitely so parallel to the scene of Drew switching up from teasing her to genuinely seeing her as an actual rival as the journey continues and he learns more about her and witnesses her improvement. It especially shows that, although they’ve had their moments of pride and straight up being awful, they’re real good peoole who learn and grow from it. Like May and Drew inspire eachother to grow.

it might not be the exact same kind of parallel like the one previously stated but it IS something that definitely fits together like a puzzle. 

Aside from the fact that Drew’s move of teasing her after her first loss while he quite literally went through the same thing is very hypocritical, it does add some kind of more depth to Drew switching up (+ improving), to no longer be seen like that wimp who cried at first contest, if you see what I mean. “To start as a new person”. I think it’s pretty much Drew seeing his own experience reflect in May, and using that to push himself higher (like he’s not the only one who struggles at first), while also unconsciously making May work harder and harder by teasing her.
