Total Solar Eclipse on the beaches of Indonesia (360°)
🌕 🌖 🌗 🌘 🌑 🌒 🌓 🌔
It was a surreal feeling.
Being there to witness day turning into night at 7 in the morning was amazing. 😲
Even though clouds blocked my view of the total solar eclipse, it was great.
Check it, a solar eclipse was spotted from air and space!
Solar eclipses that are total are rare, and catching a good glimpse of one is an awesome sight to see!

Beautiful Total Solar Eclipse 2016 Indonesia
GreatAmericanEclipse is your guide to the 2017 total solar eclipse. Maps, photos, merchandise, splendor, store, science, community, and more!
So I missed out Total Solar Eclipse 2016. Because I’m not really stoked for it. One, I’m too tired to wake up early. And two, it’s just a PSE (Partial Solar Eclipse) from my city.
BUT
I am planning ahead to watch Total Solar Eclipse 2017, a.k.a., The Great American Eclipse.
So, any of you my Tumblr friends have a home located on the path of Totality? May I crash on your place from the night before?
I promise I’ll reimburse you on any resources consumed...

Solar Eclipse: 9 Strange Things That Can Happen During An Eclipse
Solar eclipse may bring a lot of astronomers and even ordinary people in wonder but not everyone may have been enthralled because an eclipse is still believed by some to bring bad luck. Even if modern science has already explained natural phenomena like a solar eclipse, many mysteries are still associated with it.
Surprisingly, some of them may not be too farfetched, even if they have not yet been scientifically proven. Here are nine of the things many still believe are related to solar eclipses.
9 Death
Many cultures, especially in China, view eclipses as bad omens. 4000 years ago, two Chinese astronomers named Hsi and Ho were entrusted to predict solar eclipses to help avoid ill fortune.

But ill fortune befell them after they failed to predict and notice one eclipse due to drunkenness. As a consequence, they were executed.
8 Animals Behave Differently

For that brief moment that the sun is hiding, the nocturnal animals such as crickets may get start doing their business. Day animals like hippos, geese and squirrels get scared during an eclipse. These strange behaviors are due to the fact that animals depend on day or night for their activities and a solar eclipse disrupts their usual patterns.
7 Gravity Stops

This only applies to pendulum so don’t expect to float in the air during an eclipse. Some scientist has reported changes in the swinging pattern of a pendulum because of an eclipse. A well-documented phenomenon called Allais Effect, after Marcus Allais, shows how gravity doesn’t work correctly for pendulum during a total eclipse.
6 No sex for some couples

Back in the days, some cultures believe that having sex during an eclipse would lead to having dreadful demonic children. This may seem nonsense, scientifically speaking but an eclipse doesn’t usually last very long so it would not hurt for couples to wait a while getting into action
5 Power outage

The darkness of the solar eclipse can decrease energy production. The European Union generates about a substantial 95GW of energy from the sun. A solar eclipse can cause a drop of as much as 35GW in solar energy production so a power outage can happen.

4 Food poisoning

There is a belief that the sun’s rays help keep food free from germs that cause diseases or food poisoning. Because of such belief, they do not prepare food during an eclipse. This may not be entirely false as the UV light from the sun does have some germ-destroying benefits.
3 Eskimo disease

Eskimos arrange their utensils upside-down during an eclipse otherwise disease is believed to strike.
2 Noise barrage
Pixabay
In Thailand, people make noises during a solar eclipse by banging pots and setting fireworks to ward off bad spirits. Science has not proven any link between eclipses and evil spirits but a little noise for a short period of time may not be too bad.
1 Birth defects

Many cultures still blame birth defects on solar eclipses. During solar eclipses, there still are pregnant women in Mexico and other Latin American countries who wear bright red panties accessorized by a safety pin to avoid later giving birth to children with birth defects.
