Soo I think I might share my opinion on the current season because why not? It's the internet, a perfect opportunity to scream my words into the void... And sometimes the void answers back... Anyways.
Lightmending is now going on for some time and well, I think it's pretty boring.
Don't get me wrong, the cosmetics are awesome this time (sadly no free outfit but I can live with that). They're totally my vibe and my style. (Unlike migration, most of the cosmetics were ugly)
And I really like the concept of restoring a lantern. I don't know whether some of you guys are familiar with "kintsugi" - a japanese technique to restore ceramic, where the shards of a broken pottery etc. are glued together with gold. Or at least some sort of golden paste.
But that's it. This season has no big story to offer (there's actually no story after all), which disappoints me a lot. Every other season had at least a little storyline, which we're following through.
Blue bird? Make boogie kid happy again!
Two embers? Experience what happened in the four chapters!
Migration? Child slavery Guiding light creatures through the realms!
But this season? We're just collecting some fragments of shattered crystals every day to restore a lantern.
When I heard about the next upcoming season, I thought that we get to see some memories (like, how it was showed in Two Embers: memories, stored in those lanterns). That we get to know more about the fallen kingdom. How the people used to live, what they did. That we could see a short cutszene of the daily lifes after restoring a lantern. More little informations about the past lifes. (Or maybe more infos about the elders or even Resh - I'm going insane about Resh but that's another topic) But no, there's only the consciousness of a ghost, inhabiting a lantern. (Or being trapped?? - imagine your consciousness being incapsulated in a lantern xd)
We're restoring ghosts trapped in lanterns. Every day.
Man, that's repetitive :(
I get it, coding, programming and animating takes its time. And it's impossible to create a detailled season with lot of lore and cutszenes. But come on, every other season had a little story going on.
I'm still disappointed :(
Kinn and Porsche, let’s talk about Kinn first. He’s a mafia boss, some of you seem to be forgetting about that but he’s a BOSS! And mafia one at that.
He starts to care for Porsche, it isn’t particularly good from an employer view. But he can’t help it because he’s also good like that. Porsche’s situation doesn’t help him. Because Porsche’s not up to do for what they ask of him. I know some of you might get angry over this, but why does Porsche started to work harder?
Was it really to make Kinn regret? Or just to be able to get his reassurance? His motives, I believe wasn’t about being a good bodyguard. Because he still isn’t that good!
I see some of you saying, who put Porsche on bar duty, I say why wouldn’t they? He’s supposed to be top notch bodyguard now, like Ken says in the punishment scene. Right?
But no, Porsche had to drink that offered glass, he didn’t questioned it, not really. And don’t say he looked over Kinn for permission. I don’t think that was what it was. Porsche simply did what he wanna do again, and guys, that’s not okay! Not from a employee view.
Porsche’s basically not caring for his job, and he’s proving it. It just proves that he still doesn’t care about being a real protector for Kinn. It’s one of the reasons why I’m looking for when he’s actually gonna look out for Kinn in a very serious way. Don’t get me wrong, Porsche’s gonna get so good, he’ll be scaring people even for looking at Kinn’s way. But he’s got so much more to do before that happens. He’ll get there though, you’ll see.
Now, let’s talk about that faithful night a little. It was dub con at best, nothing more in my opinion. Why though? Let’s start with a different approach, let’s say Porsche wasn’t drugged and he was practically molesting Kinn. Would you all think the same about Porsche’s behavior if his judgment wasn’t clouded (it wasn’t too clouded btw I’ll get to that in a sec).
I know some of you might say Kinn could’ve pushed him he was the sober one(!) (was Kinn really so sober? He was already drinking scotch at the event, and we don’t know if he was also drinking before coming there..) or that he could let one his bodyguards to take care of Porsche. How could he though? You all see it, guy can’t sleep without a gun in his hand in his own home. How can he trust one of his people to take care of Porsche. He can’t, because even if there’s a tiny bit of doubt that one of them is the mole then the minute Kinn leaves Porsche, they might call the predator back and let them have their way with Porsche. Kinn won’t have that risk.
Kinn doesn’t trust anyone. ANYONE! He also couldn’t trust them with Porsche. Because he feels for Porsche, he can’t pinpoint what’s the feeling yet. But Kinn will get there too. It’s not easy for him, living the life he lives.
Let’s get back to the dr*gged topic. I’m gonna treat it more seriously, why? Because some of you act like this is real life and you’re making Kinn to be your arc predator (While you’ve Vegas to blame for pretty much everything). So I’ll also act like it’s more serious than it is.
Let’s talk about consent in that scene, first of all Porsche headbutted Vegas. He was conscious enough to realize something was wrong and needed to stop. Then he threw up. That’s also something that’s gonna help him feel more grounded. Then Kinn takes him to the bathroom he’s once again conscious enough to push Kinn, to tell him not get touchy.
I’m not making up these scenes they happened! And do you really think Kinn didn’t wash Porsche a little or at least wiped him with wet towel? Because they were covered in puke. Except they weren’t when we see them in the bathroom. So everyone can breathe, maybe Porsche even brushed his teeth. (And also how do you know Kinn didn’t use lube or condoms? It’s not like they can show every little detail, it’s not p*rn guys!)
Anyways, then we see Porsche looking for something in Kinn. Something he begin to look for, starting ep3. Porsche looks for his attention. He doesn’t know why he wants it, not in the way of reality, Porsche just knows that he has that need for particularly Kinn’s attention.
He needs to have it. His eyes are also on Kinn when he’s looking for an approval or something, it’s subtle but it’s there. And the way Porsche chooses his words. It’s a very open way of showing how much Porsche needs it from Kinn, and Kinn only!
Back to the faithful night, I say it’s dub con at best because, Porsche’s touching all over Kinn, he’s aware, I completely agree that dr*gs have affects on him because he’s being very courageous. But he isn’t off of his mind guys! And he remembers, he remembers something very particular, like Kinn kissing him and he’s also in his mind enough to use that against Kinn. (Didn’t any of you guys get drunk or experiment with some of the p*lls to know, how hard it is to keep your mind in one place or remember anything in particular? just saying)
Porsche knows guys, he knows that Kinn thinks he doesn’t remember the kiss. So he hits Kinn up with it. He says admit you like me. Porsche’s begging for that attention from Kinn again.
But since we’re having a real life approach (it’s not that easy to call people r*pist like that!), I would definitely be defending Kinn by saying, Porsche practically molested Kinn while all Kinn ever wanted to do was take care of Porsche. And I would say Porsche was conscious enough to remember and keep up with a conversation as well. I would argue that what happened was consensual (I’m defending Kinn it’s my defense strategy here because you all are coming for my man Kinn! Calling him names and all) and that they could ask all about it to the supposed victim! (Porsche remembers the night..)
Porsche himself says he isn’t that weak! He isn’t! Porsche’s feelings are all over the place, but why? Is it because he had sex with Kinn? Didn’t he wanted it? No guys he initiated it! And he’s upset because he feels it meant something for him. He begs Kinn to accept that it meant something for Kinn as well. That he means something for Kinn.
But Kinn can’t do that. He can’t! He’s already known by his favoritism, giving Porsche what he needs will only mean it’s gonna put them both in the dangers way more.
Porsche gets devastated once he learns Kinn wanted the punishment (Kinn didn’t Korn did, but Porsche doesn’t know that) that’s what pushes Porsche off finally Porsche’s deciding that he didn’t want it to happen. That’s why he’s in pain.
They keep coming his way though, later he sees Kinn’s ‘friend’ and he also sees how he’s touching Kinn, so Porsche looks, he probably can’t do anything but look. It’s only hurts so bad when Kinn says he’s replacing Porsche with Ken. Why Ken though, right? I think it’s because Ken works more for papa Korn. He’s the one that keeps carrying intel on Kinn to Korn. And Kinn choosing his dad’s path. Because at the end of the day he still needs protection, and now he also needs to protect Porsche.
Porsche can’t understand that. He’s far too deep to think he means nothing to Kinn. Kinn asking Porsche, can’t you see what I’ve done, was so good! Kinn, maybe for the first time begging Porsche to see what he’s trying to do for them. But Porsche’s got too broken on the way he can’t trust Kinn’s words now.
And now let’s talk about why Porsche isn’t good what he’s doing, again. It’s because of his behavior and Vegas. Porsche doesn’t realize it yet but him hanging out with Vegas is gonna become a problem not only because of Kinn.
Main family and minor family are pretty much fighting. Trying to literally kill each other. Don’t tell me Porsche doesn’t hear that. I think ep5 proved that bodyguards talk. There’s no way Porsche doesn’t know this. Then why does he keep doing it? Why does he let Vegas get close to him? He’s pretty much taking Vegas’ side everytime he talks with Kinn.
I haven’t read the books but my bestie told me all about it. And if I didn’t know about it I might actually consider Porsche as the mole! Yeah that’s right! I’m completely on board with Kim looking at Porsche and trying to figure him out. Porsche’s shady. I know there’s a Porsche thirst going on. (I mean look at Apo, I understand that, but it isn’t supposed to mean we’ve to throw Kinn under the bus!)
And Porsche’s pretty much trying to get Kinn killed from an objective view of things. He definitely doesn’t care enough what happens to Kinn. We all see Kinn trying to take care of Porsche but guys, we haven’t see Porsche doing the same to him!
And now he’s hanging out with Vegas in a very open way. It’s shady af. If I were to be Korn I wouldn’t have let Porsche to protect any of my children.
And Porsche being very verbally warned by Kinn twice now. He shows no regret for it. Like I said if I didn’t know better I might seriously consider Porsche as the mole.
At last once more I say that punishment was much needed. Porsche is an employee. And he keeps making mistakes. The mistakes he shouldn’t be getting away with. Just try and see things from an objective view once more. I bet none you wouldn’t have let any of your employees go that far. But it’s easy to talk, isn’t it?
The view only shows Porsche doesn’t care about his job, he hangs out with Vegas (with minor family) he keeps screwing things up. He’s untrustworthy. I know some of you are gonna get mad at me for saying all this, but this is what’s happening.
And I’m rooting for the day Porsche’s gonna prove everyone wrong and he’s gonna prove to Kinn as well that he’s Kinn’s head bodyguard indeed and he’s on his side, and he loves him.
They both are gonna prove. And it’s going to be spectacular to watch it all happen.
I have a weird relationship with social media because on one hand, I've met so many wonderful people and I've got to share a bit of my work, and I've been exposed to so many wonderful projects of said wonderful friends
But at the same time, feedback is kind of low, and I feel like I'm in a constant race of chasing validation for said content I'm putting out, and the impending doom of my work being crap due to lack of feedback, and it's not doing me any good emotionally
u asked for it. i’m not sorry if you don’t like the topic
so i was reminded of one of my friends in middle school and the kinda weird stuff that i had to deal with bc of other people. they have age regression and for nearly all of middle school, they were bullied whenever they regressed and it was like???? bitch wtf are you doing??? can’t you see that you should be bullying them????
like bullying is SHITTY but it’s even worse when your friend regresses to the mind of a 6 y/o and has people being mean to them.
i actually age regress when i’m extremely stressed. it’s a coping mechanism and while i don’t particularly enjoy knowing that i do regress, i accept it. it’s part of how i am.
and this got me thinking about something that vaguely relates to age regression and OOF HERE WE GO I HOPE YOU’RE READY (it’s going under the cut so people aren’t forced to read it if they don’t want to)
i don’t 100% understand the arguments of why ddlg communities are bad. yes, there are people that use it to abuse a person with age regression and there’s the shitty people that think of it as just a kink but??? i’ve met people who are in ddlg type relationships and they’re so happy?? these people find someone that love them and accept them even when they’ve regressed! and that someone is willing to help ride it out with them and make sure they’re not overwhelmed by it (trust me, it can be overwhelming if you don’t have what you need to feel safe. ie: blankets, stuffed animals, coloring books,).
i can understand the anger and disgust around people that use ddlg just as a kink. but the people who genuinely age regress and find comfort in these relationships don’t deserve hate like??? what the fuck?? a ddlg relationship can be super calming and helpful to people and people seem to completely ignore that???
also the term ddlg is inherently sexual for most people but it’s NOT defined by sex at all!! sure there can be sexual elements because that happens when two people are in a loving, consenting relationships but ddlg is not just a kink or sexual fetish.
ddlg, cgl- yes, they’re considered bdsm-type relationships but they don’t always involve sex and just?? first of all: if it’s a proper relationship, these are two consenting parties that understand and have researched what they’re doing and what it means to do what they do. second: age regression and other forms of mental regression are legitimate things- they’re often coping mechanisms for ptsd, depression, anxiety, a lot of different things!!
i’ve really seen people in these relationships where it’s healthy and consensual and i just don’t get why it’s all misconstrued as something bad or taboo. sure, people might not want to see stuff related to it. but if that’s the case, the same should be applied to bdsm in general. as far as i know, there’s a lot less discourse on bdsm being gross and terrible compared to ddlg which is fuckin ridiculous.
OOF i’m sorry that i’m ranting about this but it just showed up in my head and i had to get it out
Just letting you all know that my college did an English test to the kids in my career to see how good our english was, and for the listening part of the test they decided to use some segments from Dan and Phil's radio show back when they were at BBC.
I think I’m going to have to go with Makoto. ALL the girls were really strong in this game (pretty much every character was in general, tbh) but in terms of social link as a whole, romance route, and everything Makoto comes out on top. I really love the idea of the class president who had her whole life figured out stopping and being like “wait… is this really worth it? am I really doing anything important?” because I’ve been there. And even when she comes to the conclusion that she is going to stay with the path she had decided upon before her social link, it’s well done and feels satisfying. She’s strong-willed while also being a caring sweetheart, and she’s a GR8 party member!
Yusuke: Best Boy?
Yusuke Kitagawa is my favorite fucking character and I will fight people about it (I won’t really fight anyone because favorite characters are subjective and tend to have personal meaning so whoever you most appreciate for your reasons is cool). I also think he has the strongest voice acting performance in the game, which is a bonus point. His social link was full of hilarious moments, and the twist at the end with art benefactor guy was nicely done. He’s quirky and says some of the weirdest shit, and I identify with and appreciate that. As a party member he’s pretty fantastic, being the heaviest hitter with physical moves and being so damn speedy that it blows my mind. I want to romance him, and a lot of his scenes have onlookers assuming we’re dating so ATLUS STOP BEING WEAK AND MAKE IT HAPPEN.
Takemi: Favorite NPC?
It’s a tough pick, but I’m going with Iwai. I don’t know if this question meant more obscure NPCs, but Iwai is such an interesting and incredible character. He’s a badass, he’s a snarky asshole, and he’s a loving father all at once. His social link, while not my absolute fave of the non-party confidants, is strong and showcases his character phenomenally. His confidant benefits are meh (in my opinion), but as a character he is top notch.
Velvet Room: Unpopular Opinion?
Shit… I have to think for a second because I don’t know what I have that could be an unpopular opinion, or what is an unpopular opinion among the fandom? Here’s what comes to mind:
At first, Akechi didn’t impress me. I wasn’t a huge fan of his character and I just thought he wasn’t super interesting. He’s still not even really in my top 5 (maybe he’s in my top 10) characters in the game, but the encounters with him towards the end of the game made me at least find the appeal in him. I know the fanbase goes gaga for him, so this might be controversial that I think he’s simply… okay.
Something else that might be unpopular to voice is that I really do not like Morgana. I mean, as a character he’s alright and he is certainly leagues above Teddie in terms of a mascot character. In fact, I liked him quite a lot on my first playthrough! But as I’m over halfway through my third playthrough, I’m noticing that Morgana is such an unnecessary asshole, especially to Ryuji. He takes every fucking available opportunity to tell Ryuji how much he sucks, and when he runs away and throws a tantrum, ALL the blame is put on Ryuji, even though Morgana was an equal (if not predominant) contributor to the conflict. All the “go to sleep” nonsense aside, Morgana is needlessly douchey for most of the game. I can’t bring myself to hate him, but he still is just… relatively unlikable. //Plus he’s arguably the worst party member, given he’s squishy as fuck so I have to constantly heal and revive him when that’s supposed to be his job and garu skills just don’t have that much of an advantage since they don’t cause shock/freeze/burn or anything. His best quality in battle are the lucky/miracle punch skills. Oh and his persona won’t awaken until the very end of the game so that sucks.//
Anything SPN related? Who are your favourite female characters on the show and why? And on a related note (in case she's not on the list or if she is maybe you can say a bit more about her?) what do you think of Charlie?
No particular order bc that could change depending on the day but; Jo, Bela, Meg 2.0, and Charlie. (I do like others but not in the fav range)
Jo…we got less of her than the others so partially my reasoning is more head canon or “what could have been” than the others. Jo was spunky. I liked her huge crush on Dean (bc who wouldn’t crush on Dean?) but I like that her character wasn’t just some love sick girl. She didn’t blindly follow or agree with him & she stuck up for herself. It also hit me in the feels why she wanted to hunt. She felt like an outsider around ‘normal’ people & didn’t fit in at school. And she was a daddy’s girl who lost her father so young & wanted to hold on to a piece of him the only way she knew how. I also thought Jo was natural. She wanted to be a hunter but she was afraid at first. The show seems to wanna make it look like everyone can be a hunter these past few seasons but that’s ridiculous. This isn’t a job that ya’d instantly be good at & it often feels forced.
Bela: Ok shameless answer is; I had such a girl crush on her & I love her accent. But Bela, like Jo, is a lot of “what could have been” She was definitely more than met the eye. She was a more layered & complex character than just the selfish thief she portrayed. I think if she stuck around she could have eventually been one of the (reluctant) good guys. And her banter with Dean was always fun.
Meg 2.0: She had some awesome lines. I loved how sassy she was & whenever she was around you knew you were in for a laugh or two. And she was damn bad ass. She may have been on the bad guys’ side but Meg had dedication. She threw caution (her life) to the wind & fought for her cause. Then when she lost her cause she was still loyal to the only thing left that she cared about; Cas & killing Crowley. So ‘evil’ demon stuff aside, loyalty is a good & rare quality. It was kinda neat to watch.
Charlie: uhh I kinda feel like I’m in the minority as a Dean girl with my love of Charlie. Ik a lot who are bored by her/think she’s a Mary Sue/whatever. I can’t say the Mary Sue thing is entirely unfounded but I also think when Charlie got introduced should be factored in & I cut some slack. Frankly, the show had a lot more structure in S2 than S7+ when Charlie was around. Also, she got more episodes than Jo. I say Jo bc she’s the one I sometimes see Charlie compared to with, saying Jo felt real & Charlie Mary Sue. I think my only real agreement with that is how quickly they made Charlie an awesome fighter. With her life on the run & computer skills, I can see her quickly taking to other aspects of hunting. But she went from the girl who couldn’t defend herself at all to leading battles w/o any real receipts. Yes, time passed b/t eps & she could have learned shit but then SAY it. Say she’d been training etc. Like when Jo reappeared in S5 Ellen says that they’d been hunting together for a while so we weren’t sitting there like wtf Jo is a vet hunter all the sudden...but that brings me back to the writers & more consistency & continuity in earlier seasons.
Ok that kinda sounded more like I was complaining abt Charlie than praising her (I wasn’t. I was complaining abt the writers) so here’s why she makes my fav list: Charlie is fun. She’s an upbeat sassy little nerd that ya kinda can’t help but like. As Dean said, the lil sister he never wanted & we know what that turned into. Dean loved her. I see hunting being a fitting life for Charlie too. She has the whole tragic past even though her monster was human, she’s used to the nomad life & not having anyone in her life & when push came to shove she cared abt saving other people. In a show with a long history of killing off characters who could have had more Charlie takes the cake. Her death was utterly pointless & I’m still pissed. The shitty writers’ defense was oh it was her time...if that’s true then at least give her a PROPER death. I love how she was fighting to get Dean the cure but that isn’t what she died for. The damn thing was sent & as Felicia Day put it herself: WHY THE FUCK DIDN’T SHE CLIMB OUT THE WINDOW? Yeah, still angry. And not only did I like her as a character but wtf the boys NEED something to care about. All they have is Cas & this season Mary *gags* What’s even the point of fighting to save the world if you don’ care about anything in it? This damn show kills off everyone they get attached to for the ‘man pain’ & ok a few needed to happen for the whole tragic aspect of their world but at some point enough is enough. It’s lost all shock value long ago & for what I just said, it makes no plot sense any more either.
