I had two patients today who are going to die because of lack of insurance coverage - literally, if they'd just had insurance, they could've gotten diagnosed and treated months ago, and they'd be fine

Instead they delayed the workup they needed because they couldn't afford it, and now they've been diagnosed at a late stage of illness and are going to die, one likely imminently, one in the next six months

I'm so upset right now - sadly, this isn't an uncommon thing to see, but two patients in one day who so clearly would've been fine if they'd just had insurance is super rough
