Originally released in 1996 from the legendary album Maxwell’s Urban Hang Suite, “Ascension (Don't Ever Wonder)” became a defining track of the movement that brought soul music back to a deeper, organic and groove-driven sound in the 90s.

This live version highlights the elegance of Maxwell’s voice and the tight musicianship of the band — with that iconic bass line driving the groove from start to finish, one of the most recognizable bass riffs in modern R&B.

A timeless song that still sounds fresh, sophisticated and full of soul.
