I know it's hard. I've been there, and not so very long ago.

The dating world as an adult is much more intense than it was as a teenager. The stakes are higher, at least for us romantics.

Last night I had another conversation about this and was reminded of important truths that I've learned as a single adult.

Truth numbero uno, Pay Attention. Yes, let yourself be emotionally intelligent. It's not as much fun as falling head over heels into feelings and it's also much less painful than getting played and needing to part on less than optimal terms. It's much less painful than repairing your heart (yet again).

Hold out for a relationship and bypass that offer of another relationslip.

Jesus said in Matthew 12, "...When virtue is stored within, the hearts of good and upright people will produce good fruit. But when evil is hidden within, those who are evil will produce evil fruit." As disciples of Christ, we are stewards of what He has entrusted to us. Do you realize that this includes your words? As stewards, as trustees we are to invest wisely. By doing so, we will have a return on our investment for the Lord. The great gift of words not only provide the listener with insight and wisdom from above but the speaker also is given blessing and insight. If you're anything like me, you have moments of missed opportunity, and moments of a mispoken word. This can weigh heavily upon the sensitive heart. The great news is that God is not surprised by these things and He covers us with mercy when we seek His forgiveness. Being forgiven doesn't always erase the consequences of wrong words though. It's in this fact that I am deeply motivated to choose my words carefully and prayerfully. This truth is also a reason to hold our tongue until we are ready to invest our words wisely. Ephesians 4:31 "You must put away every kind of bitterness, anger, wrath, quarreling, and evil, slanderous talk.
