I get the sound sensitive people who have their own music loud because they can control it and it's different, more power to you, but can't relate at all, team volume right down here

anyone else heard that frontline advert where they say something like the if first few seconds in this were silent you're probably not a dog? those seconds are decidedly not silent

I'm wearing my earmuffs, but they're not able to do quite enough and now all sounds are causing me issues.
I felt like today was going to go ok and I'd be able to get some stuff done (was feeling great this morning) but this has hit me hard 😞
So I'm having to curl up in bed in the dark hoping it will all just go away.
They didn't even bother to come and knock to let us know they'd be doing work (they are meant to either write if it's planned or knock if it's emergency work) so the shock of the sudden loud noise really knocked me hard. Plus we have no idea if this means our gas supply will be turned off (could just be the other side of the road) which means that we might not have the ability to make hot water using the boiler (and if you try when there's no gas supply you can damage the boiler). So that's kinda why they're meant to let you know. So you don't worry or get stuck without resources without a chance to prepare.

can you be like hyposensitive to one sound and then hypersensitive to another?
Yes. The same goes for other senses, and people can be hyposensitive in one sense and hypersensitive in another and ten have one sense with no noticeable sensitivity differences. They can also change from day to day.

Help!!! #Soft Brush Asks I had just eat lunch at a fancy place with my mom and then when we arrived, a friend of mine was coming to my home and my mother started telling me everything I had to do with her very clear voice tone and I just. Couldn't. I don't know why. I hate that way of talking and idk why it was hard to follow what she said. I ended up in the floor, screaming every time she said something. Help???
Have you tried telling her that specific tone of voice is painful for you and hard to follow?
I know quite a few people get offended when I try to explain that I can’t listen to them at the moment because I suck at it when I’m semi-verbal and suffering overload and extreme migraine induced hypersensitivity, but if I go back and explain a bit later in better terms, I often get a better reaction. (When I told people at work that the sound of my own voice is a sensory no and made me want to scream at myself to shut up,that was when they really seemed to get it.)

It can be part of sensory sensitivities, and SPD which is a part of autism, so yes.
