hey, so I have seen a lot of online How-To-Fix articles for my issue, but none are working. Just wondering if anyone else is having a similar issue
I have an ipod touch, 4th generation.
It’s not my original (which was 8yrs old when it shattered by utter accident). This one is a refurbished replacement of that one, that i’ve had maybe two years or so.
Recently, the sound’s doing something funky.
At first I’d be listening to something out loud, and the sound would just... stop.
The track/song/podcast would continue to play as if it was working, but the sound would stop.
It still works when attached to headphones, or a wireless speaker. But the ipod itself won’t make sounds.
This week, it got worse rapidly.
Instead of it just not playing music, all sounds have ceased. The unlock clicking. The ringtones (used as a test).
And most importantly, the alarm function, which is my goddamn alarm clock [so you bet I was popular at this job I can’t stand for the whole week].
I tried the following:
1)fiddling with the sound settings.
2)Checking if there was dirt/debris in the headphone jack (none, even used the compressed air spray to make sure).
3) turning it on and off again, with varying periods of time between.
4) Putting it into sleep mode.
5) Checking the external speaker for signs of damage or wear. It has not been dropped recently or anything of that nature.
6) Reset the settings.
7) Blank the whole fucking thing and reset the ipod.
To no avail. Nothing is working.
Some have mentioned it could be one of the last updates doing it, but I’m not sure.
Has anyone else had this issue?
Having to get apple to ‘fix it’ (replace it) can take like a month, and costs $140, so if that can be avoided, it’d be nice.
