Left 4 Dead - Special Infected Sound Mods
Note: I made this a long time ago and do not have the mods anymore (do a search may find similar ones, but they won't be as good as mine). This is a re-upload from my old channel - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F0RN2dmT5EY
Also note this is an old video. left4help.webs is no longer working. I hope you guys enjoy my mods! Let me know which one was your favorite.
ANYBODY KNOW HOW TO GET SOUND MODS WORKING IN STEAMPIPE FOR TF2?
I SERIOUSLY NEED HELP GETTING THIS ON. NONE OF THE VIDEOS ARE WORKING
So I've decided to release the "Fulci finale" that I made for myself a while ago (in my never-ending quest to "horror up" my L4D2 experience). Basically, that awful music at the start and end of every finale in L4D2 that always made my nerves jitter every time I heard it is no more!
I have replaced it with something appropriate, yet beautiful. There are a couple variations that Fabio Frizzi composed for different parts of the movie. I used four different bits out of them to replace the four files of music used in the game finales.
Just listen to it - isn't it just so hauntingly beautiful? And yet, still epic enough to fit the usage.
So, on the off chance that anyone else hates the default finale music as much as I do, feel free to nab the download here, and "Fulci up" your game!
Working on creating a horror movie soundscape for L4D2...
...and I'm working on the songs in the jukebox right now. So far, I'm already putting in "Party Time" by 45 Grave (from the "Return of the Living Dead" soundtrack), and possibly "Surfin' Dead" by the Cramps (same soundtrack).
I've already replaced all the menu screen music with iconic 80's horror themes, such as the theme from "Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer" for the Dead Center menu (such an amazing, chilling theme...). I don't think I could have picked a more fitting theme to the Hard Rain campaign than the theme from "Suspiria" (what better theme for a campaign full of witches in the pouring rain, amirite?). It's just an awful shame that the menu music loops are barely over a minute, so I can't fit the entire song in it. I might change one or two themes that I'm not as sure about (the theme from "Child's Play" doesn't really fit the cajun-ness of the Parish menu).
I've messed with the "walking around" in-game music as well (you know...the music that starts when the campaign starts) - I'm using all music composed by Fabio Frizzi for various Lucio Fulci films (in particular, "Irrealta Di Suoni", "Paura" (which kicks in at about 1:02 in the link), and "Verso L'Alba", all from the "City of the Living Dead" soundtrack).
One of the first audio changes I made in the game was to replace the "finale" music (which I HATE omfg. It makes me nervous.) with the beautiful"Voci Dal Nulla" theme from Fulci's "The Beyond" (listen to it - it's gorgeous). I think I might replace the end credit music with "Apoteosi Del Mistero" (also from "City of the Living Dead").
I think sometime I'd like to work on a soundscape of all music from the "Silent Hill" games (it would certainly go wonderfully with the amazing "Silent Hill" custom campaign available on L4Dmaps.) Just a shame that this campaign, for some reason, screws with the L4D1 survivor models, so you can't play The Passing, or probably any of the L4D1 campaigns (hadn't tried). Kinda makes it an "install only when you want to play it" sorta thing.
I still need five more songs for the jukebox, though.
Anyone got any good picks for songs from horror movie soundtracks?
Btw, sorry about such a long post - I just get really excited about horror movie soundtracks.
I decided to make a soundpack to replace all the Witch music, using Jerry Goldsmith's "Ave Satani" from The Omen.
I was just getting tired of that womanly warbling every time I got near a Witch. I thought maybe ominous Latin chanting would be more enthralling.
