Writing friend: I need help with a character coming up with a nickname for her crush that they don't know their name.

Me: ah, ok. What's the first thing they notice about their crush?

Them: their scent *sends sentence*

"He smelled like what I would have imagined my forest to be, wild and earthy with a hint of honey."

Me: ok so, that covers pine, rosemary, possibly vanilla, and of course honey notes.

Them: .....ya

Me: Mr. Yankee Candle

Them: *cracking up*

Me: Sir Mainstay, Lord Seasonal Evergreen, Count -

Them: 💀💀💀💀

I had been writing up this whole essay about the issues I'm encountering with Argynvostholt and how I'm trying to tie it into my take on the setting/narrative in a way that makes sense. I was going to ask you to help me brainstorm ideas.

But in the midst of writing out all those thoughts, I came up with a solution that should work just fine for my campaign.

So, thanks for just being out there in the world. It was really cool and helpful of you to just exist today. :)

Sometimes, your input is not needed, the other person just needs a sounding board. They are not looking for answers or solutions. They need your full presence in the moment, to hear (with your brain and your heart, not only your ears), to understand, to empathize (not sympathize), to sit with them in their emotion (joy, pain, whatever). Put the pen down. You are not here to dissect, make lists, make plans. Don’t be offended if your ideas are rebuffed. This is not about you; it’s about the person venting.

Finding Fanfic Help?

I literally have so many Levi x OC ideas that I think could translate into really good fics, but I need some help. Our president is a joke, and sent soldiers to fire tear gas on innocent women and children. There is literally a war on POC going on. Don’t even get me started on medical care, and the homeless problem. How great America claims to be, and how great it could be are on two different sides of the spectrum. Trust me, if I could leave I would. But this country doesn’t pay me enough to leave, and to make matters worst, me and my ancestors didn’t really want to be here in the first place.
